AIBU to chuckle at the thought that Epstein was nothing but a blackmailer .......

....... and that all those men that took advantage of the sex and hospitality he offered thought it was because they were so important. In reality, he was secretely filming everything and blackmailing them.

If it wasn't for the poor victims, I'd actually be enjoying this.

OP posts:
Motomum23 · 20/02/2026 09:28

I think blackmail pales in comparison personally - he was an agent of one state or another - very very powerful people pulled his strings and until we all know who and why i would chuckle about anything.

randomchap · 20/02/2026 09:32

He trafficked and abused young women and girls, and encouraged others to do the same

Nothing to chuckle about at all

CesarSoubreyon · 20/02/2026 09:33

I think you are unreasonable to chuckle about anything to do with Epstein. Nothing about this is amusing or light-hearted.

MissMoneyFairy · 20/02/2026 09:39

Of course he was a blackmailer, why anyone would agree to the photos is ridiculous, it's not remotely funny or anything to chuckle about though. I'm surprised you find it at all amusing.

EleanorReally · 20/02/2026 09:41

how are the photos all available?

That's the theory I believe, too. Epstein was merely the driver of the train that encouraged rich and influential men to get involved in hideous atrocities. They were then blackmailed, especially for information.

My friend suggests Russia is behind all of it.

rubyslippers · 20/02/2026 09:42

What an odd take
he was an serial abuser himself as well as an enabler
blackmail is the least of it
there’s absolutely nothing to find remotely lighthearted about any of this

CarbonArtist · 20/02/2026 09:43

Russia? Israel more like.

There is absolutely nothing amusing about Epstein .
I think OP you must be seriously lacking in any moral compass to even start this thread.

FaceEatingLeopard · 20/02/2026 09:46

I don't think Russia has a need for people like Epstein. They have their own tools and methods.
Israel is the more likely answer but whoever it was - if anyone - they certainly played a long game.
Lots of Kompromat involved here and lots of hurt and broken women. Not sure 'chuckle' is the look I'd be going for.

PandoraSocks · 20/02/2026 09:47

This is in very poor taste, OP.

that you could even find levity in this situation.....😩 🤦

ChrisMartinsKisskam · 20/02/2026 09:48

I get what you mean
they may have been better of not killing him then most likely none of this would have got out
they probably thought that by him being dead they were all safe

he is basically fucking all of them from beyond the grave

LycheeFizz1972 · 20/02/2026 09:49

FGS the op isn’t making light of the situation in general.

I agree with you OP.

How gratifying it is to see that these vile men who thought they were part of some elite club and could do anything ……. were actually just part of Epstein’s bigger plan.

I don’t know if these sort of people will ever feel guilt or remorse but I hope they are feeling fear right now, and embarrassment that they were so stupid as to trust Epstein.

minou123 · 20/02/2026 09:52

If I've read your post correctly, I think what you're saying is: you're chuckling about the men, like AMW, who thought they were important, brilliant men, but we're actually being hoodwinked by Epstein.
I.e. these men are, in reality, stupid, gullible idiots who were scammed

Is that what you mean?

If so, no it's not funny or something to chuckle about.
The real victims are the women and girls and what these men did to them is not funny.

Slimtoddy · 20/02/2026 09:58

I am reminded of G Greer's line - women have no idea how much men hate them.

It's like E gifted us a peak behind the curtain. Why is it those men never once stopped to think what they were doing? It's so awful! They are so awful.

I kinda get what op is getting at and it would be interesting to hear from an expert in male behaviour on what on earth was going on in their heads.

Well certainly the ones that live in the USA won't be feeling any fear at all. They can be pretty certain they will never be prosecuted and probably pretty secure that their names won't even be revealed.

Guilt and remorse doesn't feature in the lives of the super rich.

We are supposed to be focusing on the victims. But yet you and OP are deflecting this focusing on to a ridiculous debate about how the perpetrators are feeling.

EleanorReally · 20/02/2026 09:41

how are the photos all available?

The photos from the files ? Fbi and department of justice released them.

Abra1t · 20/02/2026 10:09

I think it's possible to find an irony in evil men getting their comeuppance while simultaenously being horrified at their crimes and wishing justice for their survivors.

Otherwise, why do we laugh at The Producers? Those Hitler Downfall Youtube video spoofs? The Death of Stalin?

It doesn't mean dismissing their crimes. It's humilating them, which those evil men would really hate. Crushing their egos.

My mate Paul says…

LycheeFizz1972 · 20/02/2026 10:11

I think the ridiculous debate is coming from posters saying that any comments about the men are misguided because all the focus should be on the victims.

Obviously the victims are at the heart of this.

But what on earth is wrong with speculating about how much the abusers must be panicking now, and enjoying the prospect of them finally starting to get their comeuppance?

InLoveWithAI · 20/02/2026 10:12

Can't find anything to chuckle about it i'm honest.

Whatkindoffuckeryisthiss · 20/02/2026 10:13

DuncinToffee · 20/02/2026 10:15

If it was just blackmail, then why are the files mostly redacted and not released in full?

Horrible take this thread.
