Didn't Harry complain about some details in Lownie's book?

You could easily imagine a good lawyer getting him off sex charges by presenting him as an arrogant albeit unsavoury moron who genuinely believed every young woman wanted him because he was a prince, and that these very very clever bad men made up stories about him to set him up as a patsy/smokescreen/fall guy in case of need.

I should say that I don’t believe that, or only partially, but it’s a POV I’ve heard a few times.

So an average solicitor and your average jury in the UK then.

I not only read it, but offered to lend it to my very pro-Royal MIL. She didn't want to read it, she said she thought it would be just a load of unfounded muck-raking.

I'm slightly tempted to give her a ring and see if she's still of the same opinion.

I love this. I also have a friend who is very pro monarchy and won't read anything to the contrary but has also never and flatly refuses to watch The Crown on Netflix. She wasn't very impressed with me of an evening when she asked me what I thought of the job the new king was doing and I told her I thought he was a dickhead.

Even just looking at the relationship between Charles and Diana, it was a transactional agreement that took advantage of a very young woman who wasn't in a position to understand what she was consenting to. Perhaps it was a different time, but it doesn't change the nature of what happened.

If Andrew didn't have the moral understanding that what he was doing was wrong, that was due to his upbringing - not because as he claimed he was used to living in a house with servants, but because he was used to other people being unimportant.

I wonder if this is the first time (over whole Epstein affair, not just today) that he's been told 'no'?

Good, just a shame that it is related to misconduct in public office and not the sexual abuse of young trafficked women.

Also while you are at it, Police officers, why not ask him about the murder of Alisa Dmitrieva, the young woman who's body was found on the Sandringham estate in 2012.

She raised them all. It’s not just Andrew. The King was buddies with Jimmy Saville and they all loved Lord Mountbatten.
They are a dysfunctional family who live off benefits.

Chucklehead was also a very close friend of paedophile bishop Peter Ball, who eventually ended up in prison.

Oh and PS the Lownie book is brilliant. In hindsight it's like reading the Bible.

Apparently he was expecting a delivery from Pizza Express and was shocked to find the old bill when the butler answered the door.

I heard he thought the female police officer was a birthday strippergram.

Meanwhile Boris Johnson, Paula Vennels and other criminals who need locking up hope that we forget about them.

They are scum
you can see it how the government come down so hard on people claiming UC
but the royal family are the biggest scammers there are

LancashireButterPie · 19/02/2026 16:32

And actually Re Charlie.......He gave him £1.5million of the £12 million payout to Virginia.
He tried to bury this. Wasn't so keen for "the law to take its course then" was he.

I really hope the royals are finished now.

Surely that’s just the tip of the iceberg? It’s inevitable I would imagine that other stuff is likely to come out

HelpMeGetThrough · 19/02/2026 16:33

Wonder if he’s had his mugshot done.

Would have been fun. “We are just going to be taking your photograph Mr Mountbatten-Windsor, I’m sure I don’t need to tell you how that’s done.”

murasaki · 19/02/2026 16:36

Unfortunately I suspect he's safely ensconced in the chief constable's office with a scotch.

Bagsintheboot · 19/02/2026 16:40

nicepotoftea · 19/02/2026 15:07

Completely agree, but I think questions are now also being asked about how much was done and by whom to prevent investigation when the people involved were alive.

Yes, it's taken far too long to actually start asking the hard questions.

My personal opinion is that he's guilty as sin, as are an awful lot of his associates. We have to be realistic though - a conviction for a sex offence is, at this stage, extremely unlikely.

HaddockDiem · 19/02/2026 16:40

Sweaty Nonce has been above the law for years. He should’ve been investigated for alleged sexual misconduct years ago and he still hasn’t been investigated for that.
Royal family are cynically scrambling to distance themselves from him after years of turning a blind eye to what must’ve been plain for them to see. They all need holding to account - Royals, police protection, staff…. he has been thrown under a bus to save the rest of them.
it is not justice until they get rid of the corrupt lot of them.

He has used his privilege to do dreadful things and it’s good he is brought to justice. He must be suffering terribly as his past comes back to bite him.

I’m delighted Andrew has been arrested but the RF cost far less than 1% of the benefits bill, plus they produce revenue. They’re incomparable situations and one doesn’t negate the other.

I think it has taken a while for them to catch up to the idea that any of his behaviour was wrong.

Mountbatten was their great advisor and there are still unresolved allegations against him.

canuckup · 19/02/2026 16:46

Louis on the money as usual

Prince (not) Andrew arrested.
HaddockDiem · 19/02/2026 16:48

Yes I agree with this. For many reasons I have always thought Charles wasn't worthy of his title but even more so now. All this crap about 'I am horrified about the allegations', my backside. Of course he knew and is therefore complicit.

I keep tossing this around too!

They always seem to get them on the money - Al Capone is the example always used.

They can find the chain - get the documentary evidence.

With rape and abuse they are always able to muddy the water. That is not uncommon either - the tobacco companies muddied the science on caner links for decades and the climate crisis deniers also muddy the waters.

At this point, I will take a win. As long as the men start to pay in some way for something, I will take it.

And it needs to be more than losing a job.

Mandy should be really scared now.

Will Keir survive?

Because of lack of transparency about their finances there is no way to do a cost/beneift analysis.

They have only recently started paying income tax and the The Duchy of Cornwall for instance does not have to pay corporation tax.

The French tourist trade doesn't seem to do too badly.

There are 7m people on benefits compared to 8 Royals. We pay £135m to 8 people, two of whom are double billionnaires.
