I think we’re at 42 now. It hasn’t missed a day since the first week of January. I feel like I’m stuck in the set of Wuthering Heights despite living in the West Country. I have 2 small kids and a lively dog.

This is DIRE!!!!!!!!

We had two dry days at the weekend so I guess day 3? But it feels like the 2 millionth day... When's St Swithins day? I think that's the right one, where according to legend what ever the weather is on that day determines what the next 40 days and nights will be...

FuzzyPuffling · 18/02/2026 18:41

Devon. Wet wet wet. And yes, im feeling it in my fingers and my toes.

Hiptothisjive · 18/02/2026 18:45

8 trillion. Or everyday at least this year.

This weather is miserable, awful and depressing.

Yep - I’m in Bath- I feel your pain

Devon. Think we’re on day 40-something now.

The Saturday just gone was beautiful for the most part, with a 20% chance of light rain forecast around 11pm, so I risked it went out for the evening without my raincoat (hooray!). Ended up getting absolutely soaked walking home at 8pm! I was quite tipsy so it sobered me up a little, and my chippy warmed me up a treat.

I don’t mind a couple of cozy, dark, rainy days but it’s starting to make me feel very low now. Longing for the day I can take a long walk with the dog without (both of us!) layering up, and pop into the local on the way back for a Club sandwich and cold pint in the beer garden 😩

Pianoaholic · 18/02/2026 18:57

Southwest (Bath) here. We had a dry day Saturday and one yesterday but other than that, rain every day I think.
My cat is hardly venturing out, he's lazy anyway though!

eosmum · 18/02/2026 19:06

47 long miserable cold wet days😭

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 18/02/2026 19:12

If I was with Jacob Elordi I wouldn’t mind the rain! Sadly that’s not to be, so I’ve come to Gran Canaria with the kids for half term 😁

Sweetiedarling7 · 18/02/2026 19:13

It actually makes me glad I don’t have horses anymore.
To all those poor souls who do have horses to look after, I feel your pain.
Biblical rain here in the New Forest since christ knows when with frightening floods in Brockenhurst.

MiddleAgedDread · 18/02/2026 19:24

It’s not rained here for 2 days!! It’s not always worse up north ;)

RS1987 · 18/02/2026 19:26

It didn’t rain yesterday - that was the first and only day in 2026 so far.

Was it actually dry yesterday ? It’s been so wet here i think my brain is sodden!

muddyford · 18/02/2026 19:35

DH was in hospital from the second week in November and it rained every day I visited and every day since, bar two. Southwest here.

Hereforthecommentz · 18/02/2026 19:36

Not sure but I'm in the middle of building an ark

Yogabearmous · 18/02/2026 19:36

Had two hours no rain yesterday, hose pipe ban starts next week… 😂

LVhandbagsatdawn · 18/02/2026 19:36

At the moment just the one. It was dry yesterday, Monday, and Saturday.

There's still standing water in the garden though...

dottiedodah · 18/02/2026 19:38

A rare event happened Saturday here .I needed to pinch myself! Yup a sunny day! Went to a NT house nearby utterly rammed! Couldnt even get a drink.Back to normality today poured all Sunday and today /yesterday .Just how much can there be? Feels impossible only last Summer worried about Drought!

muddyford · 18/02/2026 19:38

And the hosepipe ban will begin two days after it stops. If it ever does.

Bitofashock · 18/02/2026 19:41

I actually bought a dry robe the other day because every other coat is now letting in water on dog walks as I don’t seem to be able to get them dry! I took a photo of the sky last week as there was some blue sky and I was so shocked to see it.

SlipperyLizard · 18/02/2026 19:43

For once, up here in Manchester, it hasn’t really rained much (apart from on Monday), or certainly not so much that it is unusual. I take the dog out twice a day and so would definitely be feeling it if it was really bad!

Our groundwater levels have on average been very low for the past few years following lots of extended hot periods and dry winters.

This is why so many hosepipe bans came into effect so quickly even after rainier periods.

Right now is the first time I've seen the local reservoir full probably since COVID.

As much as I wish this rain had been rather more spread out(!), it has at least replenished our groundwater levels which are now normal (or above normal).

maddiemookins16mum · 18/02/2026 19:51
  1. I got all my bedding out to dry yesterday (Kent).
CosyDenimShark · 18/02/2026 19:58

Also in the SW, I have spent a ridiculous amount of time looking for holidays and extreme day trips abroad. The rain is so depressing.

I think it was, unless I imagined it through wishful thinking!
Back to heavy rain today, as I'm sure you're aware!
