Are you now more likely to vote for REFORM (the party)

NC for this and apologies if Q already asked. My quick search yielded no result.

Reform plan to undo the reversal of 2 child cap benefit. Are you now likely (or more likely) to vote for them? There have been endless threads about the welfare bill.

I wouldn’t vote for them, Tory or labour genuinely think they’re all just as bad at this point.

daysfilledwithdappledlight · 18/02/2026 18:17

I will never ever vote for them. When you read their actual polices it’s terrifying the widespread damage they could do.

You could put up anyone or anything against a Reform candidate and Reform still wouldn't get my vote. Even if the alternative were a chair or a duck.

🤣

BlakeCarrington · 18/02/2026 18:21

Yes, it does make me more likely to vote for them. I’m not decided but yes more likely.

It’s a process of elimination. Definitely wouldn’t vote for this labour administration again obviously. Not voting for the insane greens and their boob hypnotist, again obviously. Interesting to see what the others have to offer. Ill
keep an open mind. I realise that makes me a minority on this thread but hey-ho.

Would you like to provide a link to show how Labour/Lib dem/Green voters are more intelligent than Reform /Conservative voters?

We don't need a link. It's blatant!

A duck would certainly have more idea how to sort out the country's bills.

What is striking on this thread is the pile on of posters saying eg Mumsnet voters aren’t thick enough to vote reform etc, just insult upon insult. Barely any analysis of policy for any of the parties. I think some posters are calling the wrong people thick!

This is a great example of such jumping on the bandwagon thickness.

Nothing would ever convince me to vote Reform.

You have to scroll down quite a bit for the level of education of voters for all the parties.

Sunshineandgrapefruit · 18/02/2026 18:32

No. They are not a serious party and are incredibly dangerous imo.

Mingspingpongball · 18/02/2026 18:33

I wonder if this voting on one issue thing, like Brexit but not identical- will be the way politics goes..
When people say they didn’t know about the Dublin Convention when considering Brexit - I think despite the public debates that discussed that (the ability to return “migrants” to a third country) did they hear “Dublin” and think it was about flights for holidays.
Because putting the cap back on 2 children benefits (Universal Credit) sounds a bit like people think that it’s stopping massive benefit amounts going to people with, let’s say, 3 children. They sometimes conflate it with Child Benefit.

And I wonder what anyone would do if they were suddenly diagnosed with cancer and free NHS care is gone - but they are millionaires or even the highest earners.. and you know those “pension pots” they’ve saved into - sensibly and planning ahead - can’t afford. Or a child is born into their family with a serious heart condition or indeed cancer.. never mind disability (that everyone thinks is a million miles away from them until it isn’t).

Imagine coming out of hospital after a stroke - no OT support, no free medication or aids and adaptations to one’s house provided by councils…

But yep, those families that didn’t save for more than 2 children- that’ll show them. When you can’t call an ambulance because you don’t have the requisite insurance but you’ve got an open fracture… Or you do and get charged £10,000 after the event .. but you can’t go back to work for 6 months and there aren’t any benefits you can claim and you can’t pay your employees…

JLou08 · 18/02/2026 18:37

No.
I like the Equality Act. I like having Human Rights. I like being seen as more than an incubator for a baby. I like living in a county that (generally) doesn't discriminate based on race, religion, gender or disability. I like having workers rights. I like social mobility so that children born in to poverty have a chance of a better future. I like a free health care system that (mostly) prevents avoidable deaths regardless of their income or their parents income.
The thought of what this country would be like under Reform absolutely terrifies me.

I think they are hoping people won’t read the policies just listen to the soundbites designed to play into the hands of their target voters.

Yes I will vote for reform and my friends tell
me they will as well. This Labour govt is incompetent and was trying to cancel elections until they discovered it was illegal .... and two tier kier is a lawyer.

Anyone using the phrase two tier Kier is basically just parroting propaganda. Well done you

nearlylovemyusername · 18/02/2026 18:40

Whatafustercluck · 18/02/2026 16:10

Never have, never was, never will. I detest that gurning frog-faced flob goblet and everything he is and stands for. Honestly, I have never experienced such a visceral dislike for a politician, ever.

every word of this, 100%.

But - with far right Tory joining Reform I'm holding on hope that Kemi can pull it and move Tory party to the Centre/Centre Right as it was at its best.

I hate Labour deeply, but if it's the only safe option to keep Reform out then I'll vote for them.

And yes, I hope the cap will be reinstated at some stage. But not by Reform

AccidentallyWesAnderson · 18/02/2026 18:41

TheCriticalThinker · 18/02/2026 16:46

Labour - totally incompetent and embarrassing

Tories - quite like Kemi but can't forgive for the past

Reform - don't like Nigel or the Tory defectors

Green / Lib Dems / SNP / Plaid / Your Party - They all say that men can become women

I'm politically homeless and kind of hate all the parties these days

Exactly my position too.

Their plan is to move to a German social insurance model, not scrap health care. The German model has better outcomes, the care is superior and the ROI is massively better. It’s disappointing when people don’t do basic research before dismissing ideas.

FanFckingTastic · 18/02/2026 18:46

Whilst you may have asked this question in good faith OP, you are unlikely to actually get an answer or any helpful debate. What you are likely to get are pages and pages of people confirming that they would never, ever EVER vote Reform along with lots of name calling of anyone that dare suggest that they might. Unfortunately this means that you probably won't find out whether reinstating the two child cap would encourage voters their way or not.

My view is that reinstating the cap will probably be seen as a good thing amongst more right-leaning voters - particularly the demographic that are more likely to vote Reform (people who are older and therefore unaffected by the change)

Hummingbird88 · 18/02/2026 18:49

No. Never would have done and never will.

Or younger people with less than three children shouldering the tax burden to pay for it, to the detriment of their own children.

WilfredsPies · 18/02/2026 18:50

Christ no. Although, to be clear, this doesn’t impact me in the slightest, so it has made no actual difference to my opinion.

I do think that people would be very unwise to take threads like these as any indication that he’s not a threat though. I don’t think your average MNetter is his target group and it’s going to come a a horrible shock to some of you when he does get in. And unless Labour appoints a popular leader, it’s pretty likely that he will if he wants to.

Do you like tens of thousands of white girls being raped and no (mainly Labour) council will do a thing about it because of ‘racist’??
Don’t forget to put that on your list.
