Are you now more likely to vote for REFORM (the party)

NC for this and apologies if Q already asked. My quick search yielded no result.

Reform plan to undo the reversal of 2 child cap benefit. Are you now likely (or more likely) to vote for them? There have been endless threads about the welfare bill.

If I had to choose between Reform and Restore, then maybe I'd vote Reform.

Their new shadow cabinet is all Tory, fairly awful Tory granted, but I think Reform's moment in the sun is over now.

I was thinking more along tha lines of those who lose multiple benefits and can't afford to house themselves. Step up and support your self? Or leave?

Are they cutting benefits? Which ones?

I doubt people who can't afford housing at home, can afford to migrate. Especially since Brexit ended Freedom of Movement for many British people. Where would they go?Confused

Selenassunsetsangria · 18/02/2026 16:09

Somewhere cheap?

TheCountessofLocksley · 18/02/2026 16:10

No still wouldn’t vote for them. They could be the only party standing and I still wouldn’t vote for them. Self-serving bunch of bigots whose only “policy” is to make themselves and their business owing pals richer.

Anyone who agrees that the “working class have it too good” needs to check their privilege and ask themselves why they are so scared of others wanting a decent wage/employment protections.

Whatafustercluck · 18/02/2026 16:10

Never have, never was, never will. I detest that gurning frog-faced flob goblet and everything he is and stands for. Honestly, I have never experienced such a visceral dislike for a politician, ever.

BabooshkaHaHa · 18/02/2026 16:12

No, never, I’m not lobotomised.

Do you think it's only people on benefits who support the existence of benefits?

I wouldn't mind leaving if Reform get in - where do you think we should all go?

Lauralou19 · 18/02/2026 16:14

Agree with reinstating the cap however still won’t vote for Reform. Voting for Kemi next election and like everything she has said so far.

And those of us with poor health/disabilities will be stuck as it will be prohibitively expensive, if even possible, to get health insurance abroad...

PensionMention · 18/02/2026 16:16

I do not agree with the 2 child cap being lifted but I will never vote for reform.

Portakalkedi · 18/02/2026 16:18

MN isn't the place to ask this, OP, as anyone expressing anything other than negativity about Reform will be shouted down, called racist, thick, bigoted etc. Bit like the Brexit issues on here.

1dayatatime · 18/02/2026 16:19

I would never vote for Reform because quite simply their numbers don't add up and I genuinely believe that they would end up increasing borrowing creating further economic decline and crisis. In short they are economically not credible.

That said the Green Party are even less credible economically with Zac Polanski have no idea of the size of and the difference between Government debt and Government debt interest payments. If the Greens ever got close to power then they would create a financial crisis far worse than any other party and any other financial crisis in history.

So it surprises me that so many posters are vehemently against voting Reform (myself included) but do not display the same or even higher levels of disapproval towards voting for the Greens.

Of course @Decisiondecisions should ask this on Mumsnet. Stop trying to silence posters.Hmm

Sesma · 18/02/2026 16:21

I can remember after one election on here that Labour lost, everyone was going berserk and saying it was a fix because everyone was going to vote Labour because MN posters were all voting Labour

Nevermind17 · 18/02/2026 16:21

Reform had talked of scrapping the cap previously. Now it has been scrapped, they’ve done a U-turn.

They’ll be shooting themselves in the foot as it will disproportionately affect their voters. And that’s a big positive in my book.

I would never vote for them.

youlied · 18/02/2026 16:22

When Labour got in, people went to such places as Dubai. If Reform get in where will people go?

I don't have the answer hence the question. Wondering what the outcome would be.

At the moment, I don’t feel like voting for anyone. 🙄

All hopeless liars. 🤷‍♀️

I dont think anyone needs to ‘check their privilege’ when it comes to the two child benefit which was the original question.

You have the amount of kids you can afford to give them the best possible life. We are on a high middle income (we fall into the top 16% but by no means feel ‘well off’). There is no way I feel we could have more than two and give them the quality of life they deserve. All bills paid, not living in debt except the mortgage, comfortable home, days out, clothing, school trips, birthday and christmas presents, decent food, time to help with homework and the list goes on and on.

If you can do all that and pay for more kids yourself, crack on and have 10 but the taxpayer isn’t funding it.

Children are a privilege to bring up, not to be churned out because someone else is paying.

Its either Reform or the Tories at the next election (personally hope it’s Kemi as agree with everything she does), so the two child cap is gone anyway in a few years. Both of those parties will be reinstating it.

Decisiondecisions · 18/02/2026 16:32

Sassiskt · 18/02/2026 14:54

As with 65% of the electorate I agree that there ought to be a 2 child benefit cap, but it won’t make me desperate enough to vote for them, no.

Well presented.

No wonder people think we're obsessed with Reform. Every third thread seems to be about the grifting shithouses, at the moment.

Indeed! Hence my surprise there was no Reform thread on this. Next we will see is a like chat on MN with Reform economic spokesperson.

looks like the Q should have been: Reform are now set to win the next general election aren’t they?

OP posts:
MandingoAteMyBaby · 18/02/2026 16:38

I would rather shove fistfuls of wasps up my arse.

Reform is a party of millionaires representing billionaires, which seeks to further entrench inequality and rip off everyone for their own benefit.

Decisiondecisions · 18/02/2026 16:38

GeneralPeter · 18/02/2026 15:06

I’m still very far from it, but Jenrick’s economic platform was a pleasant surprise. So, yes, “more” likely to I guess.

Fiscal conservatism combined with supply-side reform.

Simplify and reform the tax code to remove disincentives and cliff edges, but with overall tax levels to fall only once the deficit is eliminated. A sensible, technocratic move that can unlock some growth without additional spend.

Welfare reform, in particular targeted at rolling back the recent and large increase in anxiety-and-related benefit bill. Surprising echos of Gordon Brown.

Adjusting BoE remit: I could take it or leave it, but good to see recommitment to the OBR process. Discussion of superforecasters very interesting.

Energy policy: a major win. We have the highest industrial energy prices in the Western world, going into an economic revolution that will be very energy heavy. We can either be AI-makers or AI-takers. Makers is best. I like net zero, but think how we have done it (through domestic policies) has been absurdly inefficient and politically, not ecologically, motivated.

Thank you for your time.
