Are you now more likely to vote for REFORM (the party)

NC for this and apologies if Q already asked. My quick search yielded no result.

Reform plan to undo the reversal of 2 child cap benefit. Are you now likely (or more likely) to vote for them? There have been endless threads about the welfare bill.

Absolutely fucking not

I think the most prolific sexual abuse in my lifetime was carried out by a white man named Jimmy Saville, who was protected by many other wealthy white men. Lets not forget the white Catholic priests either.
Do you really believe Reform care about girls? What policies do they propose to protect girls? Reform have recently took over the council I work for as a social worker. All they are interested in is cutting the spending. I'm yet to see them implement or even suggest anything to protect children or vulnerable adults.

That’s factually incorrect, It was 34 rape victims with Jimmy Saville versus over 1400 grooming gang victims.

No. I have no party I can vote for. They are either right wing grifters or don’t know what a woman is (not a man) so I’m politically homeless. I have been a Lib Dem voter all my life (except the last 6/7 years) and I’m heartbroken that I can’t vote now.

In that situation, I’d still utilise my right to vote by spoiling my ballot paper. Not a nice predicament to be in, though!

LunaDeBallona · 18/02/2026 15:24

You won’t get anything but hate for Reform on here OP.
It’s the same as the ‘leave the EU’ referendum- everyone who said they were going to vote leave were piled on.
The left wing are very very vocal and shout louder than any other group - you are not allowed to have a different view and if you do you risk being cancelled.
Then, the election comes along - and the very vocal group are amazed when the other side wins.
The last election was indicative of this -Labour didn’t win by a landslide ( Jeremy Corbyn got more votes than Starmer when he ran against Teresa May), The Tories lost because of the appauling mess they had made of things.
They are all as bad as each other IMHO.

Don’t worry. Just interested to read the well reasoned posts regardless of what they support..

Thanks, I appreciate it.

How do you think Jenrick’s other policies will play, beyond the benefits cap?

How did it compare to what you expected from them?

It was less populist than I expected, which is good.

I still doubt they can deliver competent government. I dislike a lot of their social stuff.

But at least they have an economic policy that, if implemented, has a chance of reviving growth and lightening the fiscal burden we are bequeathing future generations.

Edited

Sorry, been busy working. I had only just picked up the 2 child cap from the radio. Will wait to hear debates on LBC on the rest of his policies.

at this moment, whoever is likely to help me keep more of my hard earned money will likely get my vote! Still undecided.

I was asking if you are happy with that applying to fee paying schools or do you think they will be exempt?

Get rid of VAT but only half the students get to go to Oxbridge?

What is striking on this thread is the pile on of posters saying eg Mumsnet voters aren’t thick enough to vote reform etc, just insult upon insult. Barely any analysis of policy for any of the parties. I think some posters are calling the wrong people thick!

I am the OP. I agree. Name calling has no place on this thread.

What's factually incorrect? Jimmy Savile was the most prolific abuser. Can you name me a perpetrator who has had over 450 reports of sexual abuse made against them? An individual, not a whole demographic.
It's not a competition anyway, there are men of all ethnic groups who sexually abuse children, but Reform and their supporters only care if the perpetrator is Asian. Why is that?

They have vote!

Was that meant to be "they have my vote" ?

Just goes to show they appeal to people who can't string a sentence together!🤣

When their candidates think they know what women should be doing; having babies, and if you dont you pay more taxes 🤔

Taxing childfree people more... beggars belief that people can openly voice this never mind think it should be policy. If this doesnt put people off; dystopian.

Decisiondecisions · 18/02/2026 19:57

Well, thanks to those who have been able to present a reasoned reason, either way. It was informative. Back to work to pay for those taxes!

I don’t understand what you’ve taken from that speech that has you rattled, I didn’t get any hint that you’d need an exemption to go to university? or that it was linked in anyway to rolling back the children’s education and vocational training tax.

SleeplessInWherever · 18/02/2026 20:06

No.

I’m not angry enough about immigration, or whether women choose to have children or not, or disabled people.

Would you like to provide a link to show how Labour/Lib dem/Green voters are more intelligent than Reform /Conservative voters?

  • Education divides attitudes on race and immigration more strongly in the UK than it does in the US – people with lower levels of educational qualification hold more socially conservative views in both countries, but the gap between degree‑holders and non‑degree‑holders is wider in the UK, especially on diversity and immigration.

  • In the UK, people with qualifications below A level have more than double the likelihood of supporting the Conservatives or Reform UK compared to those with higher levels of education.

I can’t find the main article I read with graphs in but these back it up.

What I quoted in my reply ‘I think the most prolific sexual abuse in my lifetime was carried out by a white man named Jimmy Saville’ is factually incorrect, it was carried out by grooming gangs over 1400 rapes to 35.

I see you have slightly changed your wording now, but your original quote is still there. I do completely agree with you that there was no ethnic demographic element to Jimmy Saville, but there was with the grooming gangs, their victims and the attitude of the authorities who turned a blind eye. I believe that’s why Reform are interested in it, they also don’t appear to be reliant on that particular sectarian voting block as other parties are and are therefore in a better position to stop this happening going forward.

ForWittyTealOP · 18/02/2026 20:10

Anyone who agrees with the two child benefit cap lacks both empathy and critical thinking skills. I'd give up my vote forever before I'd give it to Reform or any other hard/far right party.
