Get the bottom sheets on beds completely taught?

Hairdryers with a diffuser attachment would be an added bonus

Ginmonkeyagain · 17/02/2026 10:26

@KimberleyClark So much that. Mr Monkey and I have self assigned jobs whenever we get to a new hotel. His is to find out the code for the front door, check out time and when and where breakfasr is. Mins is to work out how the shower works and find the hair dryer.

MrsScrubbingbrush · 17/02/2026 10:30

Hairdryers with all the power of an asthmatic ant where you have to keep one finger pressing down the ‘on’ button otherwise it cuts out

Provide what I consider the basic necessities for a room...full length mirror, decent lighting, towels for hands, body AND hair (and ones that are big enough to actually cover your body), sockets by the bed and the mirror. Most rooms will be missing at least one of these things.

They’ll be missing all those and a large shelf in the bathroom for your toiletry bag.
However there will be 2 large chairs and a very small low table provided 😀

oncemoreuntothebeachdearfriends · 17/02/2026 12:14

They want you to save them money the planet by re-using towels, but don't provide anywhere to dry them.

Oldraver · 17/02/2026 12:27

Yes, ask you to think of the environment and reuse towels (which I'm happy to do) but don't have anywhere to dry them

Oldraver · 17/02/2026 12:28

Bloody typical when you're so impatient to post you don't read down to the bottom 😅

Oldraver · 17/02/2026 12:31

No where to put shampoo etc in the shower. I actually am surprised when there is a little shelf

I've now got some of the silicone bottles on a lanyard that ce wrap around the showere fitting

FairKoala · 17/02/2026 12:38

To have enough light near the only mirror in the room you can get up close to. And have a shelf to put stuff on. Either you have to lean over a wide cabinet or stand in front of a mirror which is in the area of the room with no light (natural or otherwise)

FairKoala · 17/02/2026 12:39

No fresh air

outdooryone · 17/02/2026 13:17

Install fire door closers that are 'soft close' for the last cm or so, to save doors banging...

twilightcafe · 17/02/2026 13:20

Make the light switch closest to the bed the one for side lamps; and the one furthest from the bed switches on the main light.

grumpygrape · 17/02/2026 13:48

Some way to dry towels, happy to make my own bed and not make a mess, so we don't need the room serviced but need dry towels (and enough of them, at least one hand and one bath towel for each person)
A bathroom basin plug that works and doesn't let all the water out.
As a CPAP user, a table and 3 pin (not usb) plug beside the head of the bed.
A clean TV remote control 🤢
A mini fridge. The cheapest US motel and most European hotels will have one. No need for an American double with ice making, just big enough for meds a a couple of bottles of water.
Enough for now 😉

Murfmeister · 17/02/2026 14:16

Have a simple way of turning the lights off without it turning into the equivalent of a New Years Eve light show!!

StarlightLady · 17/02/2026 14:42

2 chairs in a room for 2 people and a headboard that doesn’t bang against the wall.

Imlyingandthatsthetruth · 17/02/2026 14:44

Talking duvets why do they tuck the flippin' thing in so tight that you need the strength of Hercules to pull it out. If you try to get in the bed without releasing it you run the risk of turning two dimensional they're so tight!

Imlyingandthatsthetruth · 17/02/2026 14:46

Also bathrooms that have more than four square inches of shelf space would be nice.

Provide proper decaf coffee instead of shitty pouches of instant crap.

bizarrely I like instant crap and can’t bear the pod machines. I had to buy a jar of coffee from M&S in a city centre recently so I could have a coffee in my hotel room because although the hotel could supply tea, sugar, milk and hot chocolate in sachets coffee was beyond them!

StarlightLady · 17/02/2026 14:49

Showers with uncontrollable temperatures, a choice of constant fluctuation or freezing or boiling.

Slow check in and check out.

Bonkers1966 · 17/02/2026 14:51

Understand that pet friendly means pet hair.

yorkshiretoffee · 17/02/2026 14:59

Provide showers that don't require a degree in engineering to get a simple warm/hot flow.
All ten light switches near the bed instead of 9, the tenth being that one that you don't know where it is until you go to bed, discover an overhead light and then find the switch secretly hidden behind the TV.
Otherwise I love the excitement of staying in a hotel.

Fizbosshoes · 17/02/2026 15:02

Have a normal kettle?
Hotel kettles hold about an egg cup full of water , take 25 minutes to boil and sound like a jumbo jet taking off....

Get the bottom sheets on beds completely taught?

Because they’re thick?😆

HelenaWaiting · 17/02/2026 15:17

Allseeingallknowing · 17/02/2026 15:07

Because they’re thick?😆

I think they have to be taught to be taut.

Allseeingallknowing · 17/02/2026 15:21

Hooks on the back of bathroom doors
