Lied to get a jab now friend is angry

Cantkeepaname · 13/02/2026 20:59

I don’t understand why my friend is annoyed at me as it doesn’t effect anyone else.. part of me thinks it’s jealousy but she’s not speaking to me because I told her how I managed to lose 1.5stone.
backstory- I lied to get an online prescription by saying I was about 1.5stone heavier than I was then when I needed to send photos I just made my scales say more to match the weight I submitted. Not exactly a difficult lie but it worked and I’ve had 2pens of mounjaro 2.5 and I’m now 8.5stone. I feel great, the size I want to be and no side effects so yes I feel smug that my lie worked and I lost the weight easy.
well my friend who has been trying to lose weight too but not via jabs is furious saying I should be ashamed of myself.
surely it doesn’t effect anyone else? I paid full price so can’t be blamed for stealing from the nhs

How did you make the scales heavier????

Old fashioned ones you could pull the dial forwards so it's on a stone above zero. Then stand on it and it looks a stone more. Dk how you can do it with digital ones.

You can make yourself look like you weigh less if you place the scale on a soft surface like a fluffy carpet/rug. 😂

You don’t think all the global health authorities know that. You don’t think much of the data for one thing can be used for another.

oh my sweet summer child.

No. It doesn't work like that. But didn't you confidently state this load of absolute bollocks?

"glps were first tested in the 90s, with over 15 years of trials. Then in use for over 2o years for different things, when you say 5 years you’re refering to the brand of medication, not the active ingredient and the trial for that."

That’s an accurate statement, honestly spend some time reading how trials work, what’s tested, how it is tested on all body functions etc.

Grammarnut · 14/02/2026 11:48

Ok. But that doesn't detract from the fact it is pretty stupid to lie about your condition in a medical situation. It's also unethical in OP's case.

I didn't say it did, I was just giving you the correct information

That is not an accurate statement. I am not a historian of WLI or GLP1s, but even a cursory reading of a wikipedia page will tell you a very different story. You are confusing decades of research and development with decades of trials.

LeafyMcLeafFace · 14/02/2026 12:23

I think she’s probably angry because she thinks you’re a tool for risking your physical health and that lying, regardless of how many people do it, is morally wrong. But that would just be my guess.

I don’t think you are much of a friend in the first place TBH. Do you not have the courage to be open and honest with people?

So the OP should have told her friend she was using WLI? Why? What business is it of her friends? Do your friends have to share every detail of their lives to you?

HeadLake · 14/02/2026 12:28

BigButtons · 13/02/2026 22:28

They really do!’

I have been thin all my life
and don’t look older than my friends, quite the opposite! (Am genetically slim, Asian). I am 55, hardly any grey hair and look young for my age, I’ll have you know! Don’t perpetuate stereotypes.

BlimeyOReillyO · 14/02/2026 03:28

Same as stoppping any diet I suppose? You eat calories enough for maintenance?

do you ask the same question for people going to WW? what are you going to do once you stop going?

Difference is with SW and probably WW it costs about £5 a week and once you get to goal you get free membership as long as you remain within i think 4lb in either direction. Maintenance on the wli is £100's a month forever - thats a hell of a commitment that for most will be unsustainable

Price will drop, but slimming world has 97 percent failure rate. I’ve a friend who did it for decades, gaining and losing rhe same few stone, she’s now more obese than ever.

Giwingpat · 14/02/2026 12:31

To all the folk still replying, I'm willing to bet my stash of tirz, that it's a big fat porky, just like the one she was chowing on when writing the post, wishing she was the 8.5 stone that she dreamed up in her pissed up fantasy post 😂

Diamondsareforever72 · 14/02/2026 12:32

daisychain01 · 14/02/2026 11:26

I think that's the point, the OP didn't need to mention WLI to her friend, so why did she?

all it did was run the friend's nose in it about how they lost 1.5 st and how they got the WLI, when they could have saved the friendship and all that bad feeling by not boasting and causing needless bad feeling. There is far too much oversharing nowadays, people don't know when to keep their mouth shut.

the OP could have just enjoyed the feeling of not being overweight, instead of giving a blow by blow account about how she lied to get the jabs.

If you’ve read the OP’s comments, you’ll see that the friend was rummaging in her fridge and found her pen and asked her.
The OP did not volunteer the information.
I don’t know about you but I’m not in the habit of going looking in people’s fridges and asking about items therein.

HeadLake · 14/02/2026 12:32

OonaStubbs · 13/02/2026 23:59

People should just exercise more and eat more fruits and veggies if they want to lose weight. Far better than having to shoot up drugs every day.

There were some threads around when the price of these injections went up. People were panicking and trying to get hold of a stock pile. They were frantically discussing contacts and sources and who could get the best deal. It really reminded me of when I worked with methadone users many years ago. Some of the behaviours were quite similar. I guess people are psychologically addicted to these injections now. I can understand why.

Ginor · 14/02/2026 12:35

Frenchfrychic · 14/02/2026 11:55

It’s not a lie. She simply hasn’t chosen to give this friend detail, I’m fairly sure there are other elements she doesn’t share with her friend, from how often she shits to how often she masturbates. This doesn’t make her a liar.

It’s got nothing to do with telling the friend though. as I said, OP herself described the lie in her opening post.

Avantiagain · 14/02/2026 12:35

Everyone I know doing jabs had to send photos of themselves not the scales.

Hmm....

As you also perpetuate a stereotype in your post!

I think it is about what your natural build etc is and how your genetics work and I think the difference between slim and thin.

and I do think there is a difference semantically between the two and about recognising what a healthy weight and build are

and we have over time lost sight of what an actual healthy figure should be in western culture at both ends of the scale

My awful MIL does, and then makes comments about what’s in the fridge or how there’s too much food in there (for a family of 4). But that’s another thread… and she’s a twat.

Diamondsareforever72 · 14/02/2026 12:38

OonaStubbs · 13/02/2026 23:02

People like the OP are why the NHS are in the sorry state it is.

Why is that, exactly?
I’d say it’s more likely in a mess for a myriad of reasons e.g. people getting repeat prescriptions that they don’t need, people not turning up for appointments, overpaid managers and not enough boots on the ground, not enough staff in general, bed blocking because there is nowhere else for the patient to go etc.

A person pays for a prescription privately. Big deal.

Or maybe the op is very lazy and makes her friend get her own milk/whatever 🤣

HeadLake · 14/02/2026 12:44

Overweight people paying privately for injections are probably saving the NHS lots of money if they are significantly overweight. Even with some extra gallbladder ops thrown. Obesity costs the nhs thousands and thousands. We should be grateful for people injecting themselves to slimness really.

This thread has really brought horrible, judgmental and bitchy people. It's really sad tbh!
