Fussy eating 5 year old....at my wits end.

My 5yo is extremely fussy, the things she will eat are:
Chicken nuggets
Garlic bread
Sweetcorn
Broccoli
Strawberries
Oranges
Nutella sandwiches
Plain crackers
Pom bear crisps
Biscuits
Chocolate
Ice cream
Sweets.

That's it. Obviously there is no meal there whatsoever, she will eat chicken nuggets and sweetcorn/broccoli most nights. I've tried getting her to help me make stuff so she can be involved, she still will not even touch it let alone eat it. I have tried just giving her meals and making no comment but she will just kick off massively.

Tonight we had lasagne and I put about an inch long piece on her plate along with chips and garlic bread. She ate the middle out of the garlic bread and will not touch the rest. She has spent the last hour screaming because she's hungry and wants ice cream.

I just don't know what to do, surely I can't just give her chicken nuggets every single night?? But equally it's not like she'll eat if she's hungry, she just won't. Any advice welcome.

My advice would be:
Don't make a fuss around what dc eats or doesn't eat. Keep it casual.
Capitalise on the healthy things he or she eats and provide them regularly.
Introduce new foods with things dc likes.
Dc might not like something today but tastes change and he/she might start liking something they previously hated.

We got through it by giving the foods DC would eat but always having something on the plate to try. The 'try' food wasn't forced. I believe at this age even the look of something can put them off trying - for example, DC would eat spaghetti bolognese day in, day out. Lasagne, not a chance (even though I sold it as spaghetti bolognese just with 'flat' pasta instead of 'long' pasta). I also deconstructed a lot of meals, and still do for certain foods. For example, fajitas - DC will have the wrap filled with chicken and sour cream. I give a handful of raw peppers and salad bits on the side. DC would happily eat raw veg, but would be horrified if I tried to incorporate cooked veg, with the exception of sprouts and broccoli (go figure). 🤷🏻‍♀️

DC is older than yours, but we went through some real battles at four, five and six. We've turned a corner, so for us perseverance and offering (not force) paid off.

We had the same problem so every new food that was tried they got a sticker on a chart. 10 stickers meant some kind of gift. They could choose the gift. I know how frustrating it is!!
