AIBU to find it incredibly frustrating that there are basically no resources in the UK for people like me?

I’m genuinely starting to wonder whether I’m being unreasonable or whether this is just a massive blind spot in the UK.

I’m a woman, adult, functioning perfectly well in life for the most part, but I’m very cognitively able and have always been. I’ve been properly assessed and this a known entity (I was not born nor raised in the UK for context).

The issue is I’m finding that there are only pathways if you’re struggling but not if you’re just curious. I’m not only talking about the NHS, even privately I haven’t been able to find someone who hits the spot.

I’ve looked into:
ND assessments (very binary, very impairment-focused)
talk therapy - after years of it total waste of time and money.

People in the US suggested to find a neuropsychologist but they have eye-watering costs, mostly framed around brain injury or rehab

It’s either you’re ill or you’re fine, stop asking questions.

I’m not looking for validation, labels, or coping strategies.
I’m just trying to understand how my mind works, and it feels like that’s somehow illegitimate unless I’m suffering.

So… AIBU to find this incredibly annoying?

Read most of your comments, but then got a bit bored with the repetition, so I’m highlighting that for you to take my comment in context.

It seems that what you are really asking for is someone to be able to provide you with an all-access bespoke set of insights into your brain, completely individualised to the things that you and only you find interesting (when taken as a whole). You may find some of that within tests, but the very nature of tests is standardisation. You may find some of that within therapy, but the therapist will be limited by their scope of expertise. You may find some of that in experimental scientists who have specific hypotheses they are testing and you could be a good test subject. You may find some answers within academia but again, it’s not bespoke to you. But overall, you aren’t going to find a service where a single person or organisation can have or know all the separate insights you are seeking.

In conclusion: you are one of your own special interests. And yet you’re asking a world that isn’t interested in you to be able to give you the answers that are only about you.

There’s a lot of irony in your ask.

To be honest it doesn't take much of a brain to realise that if someone keeps putting in the effort to respond then their claims that they aren't remotely bothered about responding don't stack up.

I'm not the genius you are but this is about your actions, not what I think is going on in your head.

I find it entertaining, which it still has zero relevance in my life.

Think of it like binge watching, people enjoy it but does it make a difference or means people are super into it, not necessarily it’s more of a a background noise while doing something else.

but realistically a lot of people don’t really care what’s going on with the show.

Bingo.

Think about that from the POV of anyone who isn't you, in relation to what you are asking.

Nope, for once it was on the Gifted, so we’re amongst peers.

OP, i am very similar to you, my brain does some very interesting things.. i have hyperphantasia,

i'm diagnosed ADHD, have an IQ of 138, very much ASD (my kids drs confirmed on observation during his appts when discussing me and my family history)

I have a thirst for knowledge, struggled to understand people. .most of my social circle are also disabled/AuDHD and we kinda flock together.

I mostly just do my own research on why my brain does what it does.. and why despite all that, i only managed my GCSE's! .. well i know really, my ADHD runs the ship and we don't like exams....
