Sorry not an AIBU at all, but this allows voting.
We concluded as a family that we would rather find an animal hair than a human hair. Obviously none is preferable!

DD17 and me then explored it further - nail clipping or claw (casings)? We came to the same conclusion!

So - purely for voting -

YANBU - cat/dog hair
YABU - human hair

Again apologies 🤮🤮🤮

Dog hair. Sometimes they are just in the air or fall off clothes.

Cat gets in absolutely everything here, it would be quite refreshing to eat something without cat hair in 😂

Yes, always a cat hair floating in a cuppa here

In fact I got some cheese out yesterday, I had already opened it but put it back in the packet, as I got it out again yesterday there right on top was a cat hair, must have got inside the packet.

Little minx.

Dog , not sure why though.

Myfridgeiscool · 01/02/2026 22:53

Dog hair from my own dog is ok.
Human hair from someone in the household, starting to feel a bit bleugh but ok.
Unknown dog/human - revolving.
Cat hair, yuk, no thanks.

I think it comes down to how clean the hair is. Known hair/fur I can tolerate, I know it’s not overly dirty.

Same as dropping food on my own kitchen floor: I’ll pick it up to eat.
Not doing that on any other floor.

I'm putting way too much thought into this…I think I’m happy with the germs and amount of dirt in my own home!

Definitely cat. Human worse than dog though.

SnowyRock · 01/02/2026 23:01

Human, especially for DC as 2 have a bad allergy to cats and dogs. I have a mild allergy myself.

Contrarymary30 · 01/02/2026 23:05

Cat , I've got 3 so it's quite likely

Hmm, I'd say human probably. I presume humans are making the food so its easy to see how a hair could get in there (usually mine!!). But if there are animal hairs in there, what the hell is going on with that food prep?!

this^ 100%

Human as humans don't generally lick their own bollocks

StCuntyMcCunterson · 01/02/2026 23:09

I own the floofiest of floofs so am used to dog hair in my food with absolutely zero bother. However, if it wasn’t my dogs hair I’d vomit on the spot.

Well, half of all mammals do not do that either, and even less again if they have been spayed.

TheChosenTwo · 01/02/2026 23:12

Definitely human head hair. As a pp said, it’s easy to see how that would get into food while preparing.
Dogs and cats anywhere near food prep areas make me feel a bit grim in general, at least humans wash their hair! Cats and dogs lick themselves and their bum holes, don’t fancy that in my food 😫
It’s also why I’m choosy about which homemade treats I eat in the office!

Humans eat animals' insides without flinching.
