To ask you to help me find the perfect travel coffee cup?

(Shamelessly here for traffic)

i’m looking for a travel coffee cup with quite specific criteria… please help!

no handle
Dishwasher safe
Actually keeps coffee hot
totally leakproof
Fits a regular sort of size latte from a coffee shop – not too massive
Here’s the tricky one – I want the mouthpiece to be covered so that I can check it in my bag without it getting all dirty and germy where I then put my mouth

any ideas please? I ordered a Contigo but it’s just arrived and I hadn’t realised that the clippy bit isn’t actually where you put your mouth and that part is actually exposed!

I love my Sho one - says don't put it in the dishwasher but I do. It fulfils the other criteria

I have tried every travel mug under the sun. Stanley aerolight wins on every count!

Contigo

Hot botty sounds great!

my Yeti isn't leakproof.

Which one do you have? Check the rubber seal. The screw lids are 100% leakproof. I regularly chuck them in my handbag sideways and it never leaks.

freudenschaude · 29/01/2026 21:57

Keep some cheap disinfectant wipes in your bag if you’re that scared of germs and keep the contiguous?

freudenschaude · 29/01/2026 21:57

contigo damn you autocorrect

JoyeuxNarwhal · 29/01/2026 22:16

I love the fact that Thermos one says 'leakproof when closed' - you just know someone has made that complaint Grin

My Bodum one has been great for yonks but has recently been less reliable unless fully upright at all times so thanks for the thread op!

This is the best - the bit you drink out of is totally covered as you unscrew the top and it keeps drinks hot for hours. The best thing as far as I'm concerned is it has no fiddly bits in the lid so it's really easy to clean.

I have a bru cup and it's so good because it doesn't leak, keeps it all hot and it has a ceramic inner so it doesn't taste of metal like all the other ones I have tried do.

purpleflowergirl · 29/01/2026 23:36

Stanley ones are brilliant! As someone who hates the design of the water cups I was surprised at how lovely the coffee cups are x

AnotherHormonalWoman · 29/01/2026 23:46

If you can get a david's tea flip top flask (ebay or whatever) they are bloody amazing. Company is in Canada, they understand flasks!

But really I'd keep your Contigo, because I love those things. They're rugged, leakproof and insulate nearly as well as David's Tea flasks. Can you not just put it in a ziplock bag while it's in your bag to keep the mouthpiece clean?

ClaudiaWrinklemum · 29/01/2026 23:55

I also have the Stanley aerolight. I love it, it’s a thing of immense beauty, the overpriced trendy little bastard.

pambeesleyhalpert · 30/01/2026 01:37

I love my bottle bottle one. I throw it in my bag full of tea and it never ever leaks

isitmytime · 30/01/2026 13:14

I hope you love it @Nopayrisei need to buy another one because InPost my bright pink one. The cheep replacement one resulted in a whole cup of coffee all over my work bag!

HorrorAndHaagenDazs · 30/01/2026 13:14

I use a yeti rambler with chug gap - keeps things hot or cold for absolutely ages, and can be completely disassembled for the dishwasher. The chug cap is brilliant as no spills and is completely covered by the lid so no germs either.

I've had one of these for 5 years. My perfect coffee travel mug 💕 The outer colour has peeled off leaving a shiny silver underneath but it's still cool on the outside to hold.

I usually hand wash it but have recently been putting it in the dishwasher and it's been fine.

Also massively rate these! Never let me down and keeps hot for ages!

neverbeenskiing · 30/01/2026 13:25

This is the only coffee mug I've owned that is actually both dishwasher safe and leak-proof, despite having spent a small fortune on many cups claiming to be both dishwasher safe and leak-proof! Can't recommend it highly enough.

Dilysthemilk · 30/01/2026 19:16

The Stanley Aerolight Travel Mug is the best I’ve found (not at all like their water cups): https://amzn.eu/d/1140m72 keeps tea hot from when I make it at 6:30am to lunchtime. No leaks, no handle and covered mouthpiece. Highly recommended!

I love this https://shoreusable.com/products/sho-calix?variant=55383928242554

It's so good at keeping drinks hot that I have to leave the lid off until it's drinkable temp and then put it on. It then stays perfect for literally hours.

It's not leak proof, you can't just throw it in your bag in case it goes upside down.
