To think judging political views is like racism

GarrySlarry · 28/01/2026 21:32

I’ve noticed when someone states their pootical views it becomes oh I bet they vote for X Y or Z and they prejudice them on that. When often they’re wrong?

It’s like a form of racism because they’re judging based on politic views?

Vote for who you want, but remember the government you get you deserve. Maybe spend five minutes looking at what’s happened in America

ChurchWindows · 28/01/2026 22:26

I know it's not orite, but I always judge people for pootical raisins.

100% agree with this.
I would never want to see such a sorry state of affairs in the UK.

I think we need a strong leadership government that we can trust to do right by all.

Yes, a pilar cyst is a benign type of skin cyst.

I do not care about Nigel so please stop pushing your views upon me. It’s funny how you all shout reform yet will never share your own views. Strange that?

You choose your political views and it is often a reflection on a combination of your personality and it's prejudice, the information environment you choose to sink yourself into and your position in society.

You don't choose your genetic makeup.

Im guessing from the dime bar starting point your political view and I'll let you know if I'm wrong.

There are indeed bigoted arseholes who simply cannot bear to have anybody have a different opinion to them. They are frothing at the mouth to tie anybody to the stake who they sniff out as experiencing wrongthink.

The radicalised far left of this site (who are utterly blind to their own massively concerning far left swing in the last few years) will scream abuse, demand silence, shout slurs, attempt any kind of vicious, venomous abuse to silence and shut down anybody they can who steps outside the cult think of far left bigotry.

So much so they will go bananas over this post, and I won't bother with their replies :)

Millions of ordinary people with whom they agreed 20 years ago (and whose views have not changed) are now labelled far right, and apparently the radicalised far left have never even heard of the Overton window 😅

However, it's not the same as racism, as race is in your DNA and can't be altered. But you can still learn to be a decent person with centrist views and not shriek abuse any time someone suggests the mass rapes of many thousands of little working class white girls by Pakistani Muslim rape gangs (for example) might not be a great thing to sweep under the rug.

Indeed, many Pakistani Muslim men manage not to indulge in mass rape and abuse of little working class white girls, and perhaps could be taught to stand up and be counted instead of assisting with the cover up or staying silent.

Behaviours can be learned, and changed, while DNA cannot.

Humans are tribal, easily led emotionally and many do not care about the facts, only pleasing their ingroup. The ingroup on mumsnet up till very recently has been excessively far left, imagining themselves to be progressive (although they have turned out to be regressive and aggressive) and their echo chambers have been cossetted by the msm.

Now they are reeling because they've realised that's not how the world at large views things at all and the far left bigotry and hatred towards anybody who dares indulge in wrongthink is oozing from their every pore as they become frantic in their efforts to stamp out thoughtcrime.

So no, although they are bigots and blind to their own prejudice on this site and many far leftists of the site and elsewhere are hateful, bigoted and vile to those who they perceive as experiencing wrongthink* people can (and have to) cover up their opinions when around these bigots and blend in.

But you can't generally can't hide your race/ethnicity so easily.

So, it's bigotry and prejudice to scream abuse at, aim slurs at, treat disparagingly and attempt to harm people who vote differently to you politically, but it's not the same as racism.

*Note - the far right are obviously also bigoted and hateful, but they have never, ever been in ascendance on this site or in the UK in the last 30 years. Indeed the UK is about as far left as it can get without becoming actually outright communist now. This simply stated fact will send the regressives of mumsnet into shrieks of rage and hateful slurs, the bigotry will emerge in the responses to this post and once again the replies will prove the post to be correct :)

This. Ditto MAGA people.

Anything vaguely benign, I agree. Overtly xenophobic, misogynist, racist parties, of course it's normal to judge.

We are all judgemental.

However political views are often about the best path forward for a country/population.

I have always found it interesting that liberals/left find it easy to judge/condemn those on the right whereas I rarely see the converse.

For instance I have seen dating profiles that start with "no tories" and never seen one that starts with "no socialists".

To that extent I think there is some mileage in the OP's question. That there is some streak of self righteousness that allows some to judge others as deficient for having a different political view, just as a majority white population can treat people of a different race as abhorrent.

It's really, really not. Political views are quite obviously not equivalent to race or ethnicity.

But you evidently agree with the most nonsensical post on this thread. So I will certainly draw conclusions about your views from that response.
