Victoria Beckham used to be so different

I like her and think Brooklyn’s recent posts are awful.

I was looking on YouTube today and a video came up of her over the years, mainly with the spice girls and when younger. She was so funny, so cheeky and seemed so strong & confident. She did full, proper smiles and laughs, so nice to see.
Totally different to now, is it just age and we were all probably more like that in our youth?

Her ‘cultivated upper middle class persona’ is not convincing - and I think pretty jarring to all ‘classes’ of people.

She needs to be authentic - confident in her unique unvarnished self - that’s much more attractive and warm - this persona I believe is inadvertently making her not just unrelatable but maybe a bit ridiculous.

Unfortunately, despite liking Victoria and believing she’s stylish, I agree. Geri H has done much the same. You do begin to absorb the habits of those you socialise with over time, that said.

In her defence the fashion world is tough & you can see why she might adopt this persona & the sense of doing just that to make it. Her ambition, tenacity and steel I greatly admire & would love to channel at work.

Those on fringes of aristocracy can be very unpleasant & especially mocking towards those that don’t fit, so a response is often to try to socially ape them. The truly confident win respect by bowling along as normal, but few can do that.

I think the fact that she's stayed with a man who cheated on her - and I 100% believe Rebecca Loos- has taken its toll on her.
She must have lost a little bit of her soul. He even cheated on Rebecca ffs.

But you're right in that we all change as we age. There is literally nothing on this earth as powerful as the optimism of youth.

Rebecca has come out of the woodwork. I thought she was living a quiet life with her husband and being a Yogi in Norway or something? Why jump on the bandwagon?

EdithBond · 29/01/2026 21:05

Who knows?

Has perhaps learned the hard way all the fame and money in the world can’t buy happiness.

Or maybe just doesn’t like smiling in public. Lots of famous people have a public ‘mask’ or persona as a defence mechanism.

Others don’t like their smile (though hers is lovely) or worry about lines, even if it makes them look miserable.

Tom skirts around DB affairs post Loos & only talks about almost a flirtation at Glasto that VB wants to nip in bud. Allusions to roving eye but no affairs cited with clarity anywhere post Loos. Think that’s right?

He makes sure he can't be sued. But anyone who read Heat 10 years ago will have seen countless articles and pictures skirting round the issue and showing David unable to be nice to Victoria even for the cameras. Tom Bower says they were barely talking to each other at that time and no one denied it. If Rebecca Loos was lying the Beckhams would have sued her - they know they can't.

But is it so different now? We don't know what's really going on. I don't think people care, they enjoy the presented fairy tale. That doesn't mean Brooklyn isn't telling the truth.

My neighbour knew someone who had a fling with him (their children were at the same school). Apparently, he sent a pair of 'heavies' around to her house and made her sign a NDA. I've no reason to suppose it wasn't true. I got the low-down fairly 'close to the horse's mouth', so to speak.

What if she'd gone to the police for harassment?

All that means - from your perspective - is that VB has been holding all these affairs a loooooong time.

When DBs first shag that was reported in the media - before even BB was born - VB said at the time “well it’s not a sending off offence”.

He’s a serial shagger - it’s ‘normal’ in his environment so VB became the ‘cool wife’ and ‘accepted’ it at huge emotional toll to her IMHO - she’s brittle and vulnerable.

Aristos similar to Manners family & Cotswold loving & some cases living toffs, etc. Amongst others.

Edited

Not sure if that kind of aristo is necessarily more 'cultured' than anyone else...

The horse's mouth? This is literally "friend of a friend".

VanityUnit66 · 29/01/2026 21:58

Any readers of Pobbitch hear? They’ve had articles about how litigious the Beckhams are.

Affairs can easily be covered up by a combo of NDA and super injunction. Plus payments to the affair partners as an incentive to keep quiet.

GarlicSound · 29/01/2026 22:12

PatchouliPrincess · 28/01/2026 20:20

Super injunctions.

Super-injunctions are easily breached using the internet. Ryan Giggs wanted to prosecute over 75,000 Twitter users for sharing the news that he had a super-injunction forbidding news outlets to name him as having had an affair. This was ridiculed in the Commons by John Hemming, who named Giggs using Parliamentary privilege.

If Nefrititi's multiple witnesses are telling the truth, any one of them could've retired on the proceeds of doing exactly that re DB.

IMO the ‘inauthentic relationships’ BB was talking about more likely refer to Romeo & Cruz’s girlfriends who are def useful to the brand.

I feel the examples re: DB were much more specific in the past.

Well that’s debatable & fair, but you get my drift but I might be able to vouch for some of above. A bit wild in youth maybe, but the Manners, lot IMO, really know their art ‘n stuff ;) NB: Belvoir.

Bunny65 · 29/01/2026 22:30

PinkPanther57 · 29/01/2026 22:17

Exactly.

It really isn't that easy. If you breach an injunction on the internet there is no guarantee you won't be the one prosecuted. And also there are the super-super-injunctions where the public isn't even allowed to know there is an injunction. Pretty corrupt in my view.

Itsmetheflamingo · 29/01/2026 22:34

PinkPanther57 · 29/01/2026 22:17

Agreed, super injunctions are very 2011

She's always been open about the fact that she's not posh, alrhough her family's business gave them a comfortable life. Even when she was Posh Spice, she said in interviews that she wasn't actually posh. None of those characters was serious.

Oh, don’t be deceived, she always wanted to be ‘posh’ & belong in the upper middle class world. The poor grammar went, the tats went quite fast, the RP accent a work in progress…

Most assumed she was actually ‘posh’ because her fam had £ compared to the others perhaps & she was classiest of the Spices. As you say, most comfortable. It’s relative. The ‘Rolls Royce’ mention in doc is taken by most to mean she was actually a bit posh, really! And that’s how it comes across & what I think VB wanted people to think. In the 90s DB prob thought she was authentically dead posh.

She’s always wanted to belong & ‘win’ & show them IMO whether as Queen Wag or Anna Wintour V2. The latter largely a persona for business I feel. Sadly I think it’s a legacy of being bullied. The best revenge & all that…She’s also great just as she is. She must be really going through it now but shows up professionally with steel.

I feel a lot for her currently is some sort of lesson in be careful what you wish for. She’ll triumph though.

Yes...this review of VB's autobiography does suggest she wanted to give that impression..

Ah right, I didn't know that. I'm probably being unfair as my impression of aristos is mostly shaped by the Royal family, who I like (aside from Andrew of course!) but don't seem especially into books, art etc But obviously there are lots of aristos and they're more varied than royal family circle etc

Are you for real with that Q - 100% female and proud of it. Just not on for slating VB to the extent she has got here. Her DIL has nothing to show for herself other than an extremely rich Daddy, a history of dating men a lot younger than her and a tendency to try an emulate whichever family she has aligned herself to at the time. I am not from the UK by birth and wonder why British females cannot even get behind one of their own, let alone understand how English Mothers can be as nasty as some of these posts towards her.

I'm sorry, to be clear, I wasn't questioning your gender because of you backing up VB or criticising posts on here. It was your use of 'females' specifically. It's often used in a sexist and dehumanising way by men online.

If you're from abroad I can understand using it without that intention. But why not just say 'women'? Would you refer to men you disagree with as 'males'? I get you probably didn't mean it this way, but in English females arguably often sounds derogatory, even if not meant that way, because it tends to be used to refer to animals.
