Victoria Beckham used to be so different

I like her and think Brooklyn’s recent posts are awful.

I was looking on YouTube today and a video came up of her over the years, mainly with the spice girls and when younger. She was so funny, so cheeky and seemed so strong & confident. She did full, proper smiles and laughs, so nice to see.
Totally different to now, is it just age and we were all probably more like that in our youth?

She had a fun time at her son's wedding and look how that turned out 😉

organisedadmin · 28/01/2026 06:22

she’s incredibly affected & always thinking about her hand placement or head placement in front of cameras etc. I actually think it’s weird to still be that self conscious at her age.

It’s because she’s in the fashion business, she knows she’ll be assessed & stands to her best advantage re: posed photos.

I think you just destroyed your own argument there. She had a choice. She stayed with him. Which was the essence of MY argument-she didn't need to.
I mean, we all need a man, right,to pay our bills? God knows how I've just paid my mortgage off 12 years early all by myself, without dropping my drawers.

Just wanted to say well done you on paying off your mortgage! xx

ninjaassassin · 28/01/2026 07:09

You are right OP- I remember her interview with Ali G where she was joking and laughing about David's nickname of golden balls and she just seemed more vibrant and alive.

Now, she comes across as so brittle and actually, really unhappy inside. I do think staying with a man who has cheated on you multiple times is bound to affect your self esteem over time and it's very obvious she adores him but not so much the other way around. There is a kind of desperation to her that I never noticed before. Its a shame as she has done very well for herself and certainly has the finances to leave if she wanted to unlike many women who are financially trapped.

PatchouliPrincess · 28/01/2026 07:12

I used to work in an industry that touched on the world they live in and that man is a sexually incontinent slug.

It's sucked the life out of her staying with him. As it would any woman.

She’s cultivated an upper middle class persona. Ali G days were the girl of the tats, boob job, poor grammar & cool Britannia estuary accent. Can you imagine Anna W larking about with Ali G?

In private, with friends, likely more relaxed.

Gowlett · 28/01/2026 07:13

She’s self aware & very self conscious. Shy? No. She’s very outgoing, has loads of personality & can hold a room, no problem.

But, if you look at the Anna Wintour interview for example… You can see she’s nervous, eager to impress. That’s where persona takes over. I think she uses her Fashion Designer persona more & more, bring in that world. But you see more of her real self in her make-up videos etc…

Also, even though she’s a Spice Girl… Being married to David made her a WAG. The power dynamics in the marriage are interesting, but they’re often marketed together or as a family (which Brooklyn has blown apart). The kids don’t bring much to the table, but then not many nepo babies do.

I think now the kids are getting older, will their marriage survive? New Era Victoria would be amazing! But, I don’t know…

Agree. Her interactions with Eton John - there’s a clip where they’re both in a video shop in 90s - show a very confident & witty, fun, charismatic young woman. She can hold her own with ease & there’s no sense of being starstruck.

cupfinalchaos · 28/01/2026 07:26

I don’t know much about either of them but before Christmas I sat on the table next to them in a club at dinner. Just the two of them, on a date night very natural and into eachother. If he has ever cheated I’m in awe of her.

I’m sure she’s always had the same temperament but of course she’s going to seem a different person to whom she was at the start of her journey; it would be a bit strange if she wasn’t.

We know he cheated in earlier years but as to being a serial cheat (?) I am personally very doubtful. Who is he cheating with? Is this what BB meant by ‘unauthentic relationships’ or was he pointing towards his brothers?

Did they seem comfortable with each other?

Ihatethistimeline · 28/01/2026 07:38

I believe Brooklyns comments around ‘fake relationships’. Those leaked emails of David begging for a knighthood showed him to be a nasty person. I think he’s probably quite controlling and has dented her confidence.

At the start of their relationship she was the more famous one and she seemed confident but it switched around. She made him famous and he became arrogant. I think she stays because she’s desperate to maintain the facade. There’s no light in her eyes and she comes across as insecure.

I'm the same age as her and of course she/we are different at 51 than we were in our carefree early 20s. Time passes, looks change (I think she looks great, for the record), we become more mature, we are toughened up by life's ups and downs, we have more responsibilities, more aches and pains!

If she was still prancing around with the same haircut, giggling and pointing an imaginary gun people would think she had lost the plot.

Like Britney Spears.

OvernightBloats · 28/01/2026 08:03

We all change. Of course Victoria Beckham has changed! Maturity, time, experiences and (hopefully) wisdom changes us all.

Compare yourself to 20+ years ago. See how you have changed!

Dragonflytamer · 28/01/2026 08:12

It's hardly unusual is it? I know plenty of women who were lovely at school but miserable as shit now. I don't think money really changes it that much.

5128gap · 28/01/2026 08:13

In her youth she was performing the role required of her. Now she no longer makes her money from acting the role of a fun girl with her friends she has a new persona for sale. How close either is to her actual character only those who know her can tell.

We all change but she’s changed almost everything about herself & her evolution very unusual.

The Spice Girls were all unusually tenacious & ambitious which is why we’re talking about them now.

AuntyAngela · 28/01/2026 08:34

I’d have thought that “inauthentic relationships” was a suggestion that the relationships portrayed on social media and other media sources aren’t necessarily the same in private. Hardly an unbelievable idea.

Like everything else (including Brooklyn’s statement), it can be interpreted in any number of ways, depending on the viewer’s or reader’s feelings and life experiences.

Take the clip mentioned above of Cruz playing the guitar and Victoria singing. The poster said Victoria was “quite embarrassed” but “clearly adores Cruz”. Both of those are interpretations. No one actually knows the real feelings of anyone in the clip. Someone else could just as easily view it and decide that Victoria was loving it, thought she sounded amazing, and was deliberately drawing attention to herself rather than Cruz.

Victoria has changed from how she was in her 20s. Both physically and in personality. This could be a purposeful change or one driven by her relationship with David.

RosePetalsRose · 28/01/2026 08:37

As MelB said she should remember her.

The fake accent and contrived movements make her come across unnatural and uncomfortable.

I watched the Netflix thing and thought how inspiring her love for fashion was. I also loved as a mum how much she was all about family, she was the first of the group to have kids, remember the rest of the spice girls said at the time she sat with her family instead of them at some awards thing? That must have been so hard for your friends to act like you are ditching them because you choose to sit with your kids!!

No she wasn't, Mel B was the first one to have kids, although she and Victoria were pregnant at the same time MBs daughter is a tiny bit older than Brooklyn. So it's not like she was the only parent in the group trying to do both.

I remember her bringing the family to the Viva Forever show and only seemingly only hanging around with them, not really mingling with the group. I think it was an open secret she didn't want to be part of it, and by all accounts she was right because it got dire reviews and closed early.

ThejoyofNC · 28/01/2026 08:40

Are you the same person you were in the 90s?

She doesn’t have the best smile, I can see why she avoids it for photos.

How can a genuine smile ever be anything but nice?

Yes to the inauthentic relationships but surely same for family Peltz to some degree. Or any billionaire family in public eye, especially if they have anything to promote.

As an aside, I read today Nicola gets a million dollars a month from her father & allegedly seeds of the family beef & fallout were that the Beckhams, whilst very generous , not THAT generous. With the amount of money behind him BB will surely succeed in his endeavours. His cooking videos 6 figures plus to shoot & style apparently.

Ioweyounothingnothingatall · 28/01/2026 08:49

Don’t we all change when we get older? Also, unless you know her, I’m not sure how you can make that assessment.

Agree that David has robbed her of her contentment and happiness with his cheating and open contempt of her. (Although he seemed uncharacteristically attentive to her in Paris today).

She's not forced to stay. She has the money and resources to live a very nice life single, but that's not good for the "brand".
