Victoria Beckham used to be so different

I like her and think Brooklyn’s recent posts are awful.

I was looking on YouTube today and a video came up of her over the years, mainly with the spice girls and when younger. She was so funny, so cheeky and seemed so strong & confident. She did full, proper smiles and laughs, so nice to see.
Totally different to now, is it just age and we were all probably more like that in our youth?

I couldn't care less.

Why on this thread then?

I'm the same age as her and of course she/we are different at 51 than we were in our carefree early 20s. Time passes, looks change (I think she looks great, for the record), we become more mature, we are toughened up by life's ups and downs, we have more responsibilities, more aches and pains!

If she was still prancing around with the same haircut, giggling and pointing an imaginary gun people would think she had lost the plot.

Exactly. And no doubt she'd get loads of criticism for that aswell.

Shes had various surgeries on her nose, lips and dental work.Still can’t walk in those ridiculous heels. Still is a couple of stone underweight. She needs help and a quiet life with a loyal husband and to stop trying to prove herself. Her self esteem must be so low. I always want to shout at her to RELAX! Such stiff posing for someone who has been in the public eye so long. None of the other Spice Girls are like this.

Meant to add back in the day yes, they directly made mine from the kids- Brooklyns baby photos were sold to ok for a fortune- they haven’t done it for decades and the revenue stream no longer exists.

Rubbish. It’s just a more indirect monetisation now by growing the Beckham brand.

It’s a family brand image - that is curated to look wholesome, connected, stylish, groomed etc - these SM posts and media appearances allow DB to attract more and more brands for endorsements/collaborations and on every opportunity VB a has herself and young teenage daughter tripping over wearing her hideous nighty dresses.

Every single public manoeuvre is planned and choreographed to build their brand to make more cash.

Yep. The latest family group they made sure the other boys had their girlfriends with them. All to show how accepting they are of girlfriends. Don’t fall for it!

landlordhell · 30/01/2026 10:09

And how old is Harper? 14!!!! Dressed like a woman and she’s been dressing her like that for a few years. That tells you everything you need to know.

His feelings are absolutely valid. It was a private event & no doubt close friends sympathetic. Now it’s a public event. IMHO unwise to make a relatively small, private spectacle into a viral, public one, deal with lawyers, especially if suffering from serious anxiety.

But his parents keep poking him by releasing stories to the press when he just wants to be left alone by them.

Can you not see that he obviously felt he had no other option but to make a statement and gave an example of why he wants them to leave him alone, as much as even he can legally say without being shut down, and all he's got is ridicule.

Even the way his family handled it last weekend was a disgrace. DB looking smug and all the family in attendance as a big fuck you.

To their son.

Fizbosshoes · 30/01/2026 10:24

At the beginning and the height of their fame, (him as high profile premiership footballer, her from spice girls) I guess in a way they potentially did have to do a deal with the press because they would have paps and attention around them all the time. But id imagine the last 10 years + has been them driving how much they put out, how they are portrayed etc.
Even if she pursues her ambition as a fashion designer, its really not compulsory for all the family to be at every show. In fact when the kids were little, ive always thought what a boring experience it must be for them.

And as others have said lots of other celebrities are very private about their children. Until all the memes after an Instagram post last year, I had no idea what Gary Barlows children looked like for example. Ive seen papped pics of Keira knightley but her kids faces were pixelated out (presumably at her request)

Agree. Narc DB will seek quiet revenge of his son’s action but only in a hands off way - getting others to do his dirty work directly so he thinks he’s keeping his hands clean.

He has to ‘win’ and preserve his £££ for his brand company - in 2022 he sold off 55% to a corporate (probs to keep VBs fake fantasy vanity ‘company’ afloat) - so he now has a major corporate shareholder to answer to re his family public appearances.

DB is the quiet wrong ‘un here - greedy, arrogant, entitled and dismissive.

He went NC with his own father for 10 years, has subjugated VB throughout with his slagging around and it will take zero effort for him to turn the cold shoulder on BB - and the misogynist narrative of VB and N PB fighting like two cats in a sack suits him perfectly as a distraction from his dark antics.

You never see the Clooney twins, you never saw Tom Cruise's children with Nicole Kidman until they were old enough to decide for themselves.

I think Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta Jones have done a good job at keeping their two children out of the media.

The Beckham's have actively courted the press, with help from Simon Fuller, from the start. They could have kept their children out of the media so many other more famous parents have but they chose to chase the money and fame.

landlordhell · 30/01/2026 10:51

I can understand back in the 2000s when organised press shoots were a thing but by the time Harper came along, it was well established that celeb’s chn were not fair game

Wouldn’t surprise me if they encouraged one of the younger sons to reproduce, pipping BB and NPB to the post so they could hijack and monetise another generation of babies. Can see it now D&V - the coolest sexiest grandparents on the globe trotting out their 3 generations of ‘family’ at every opportunity. If not they must be itching to stage a retaliatory wedding for one of the boys - I expect NA the creepy 30 year old who started dating Cruz as a teenager would be up for that career enhancing manoeuvre!

Edited

100%. And yet still people defend him (probably because they fancy him).

They don't seem to see the vanity of the man with his cosmetic surgery and hair transplants (and ignore how much money he spent paying Awards Intelligence to clear him for a Knighthood year after year.)

It took the Queen dying for him to get a Knighthood and that's because she couldn't stand his tax avoidance and cheating so blocked it for years.
KC however isn't any better than him and needs all the allies he can get so he actioned it.

He's happy to hang VB out to dry.

He was 19 when the started dating.

In the words of the fabulous Mrs Merton:

”Tell me unknown, struggling musician, what first attracted you to the teenager with the multi-millionaire parents who have a global SM reach second to none that you could latch on to?”

She’s quite accomplished & has contacts, the usefulness works both ways perhaps? I think this might be one of the inauthentic relationships BB is talking about.

I can't stand DB, think he is just awful. The way he creeps around the royal family. The pretend country folk clothes with his stick, he looks ridiculous. His phoney shows of "I'm just normal, queuing up to see the Queen lying in state" all a massive PR exercise to boost his credibility, and it worked.

Him being given a knighthood is an insult and makes a mockery of it all. He wouldn't do any charity work if there wasn't anything in it for him.

He's no Kevin Sinfield, who you can see did and does his charity work because his good friend, and many of his fellow sportsmen, suffered with MND. The picture of him carry Rob Burrow over the finish line is one of the most poignant photos I've seen in a long time.

When was the last time you saw DB do anything for charity that didn't involve getting his mug next to a royal?

The only time I have any respect for him and think he's okay is when he takes his mother to Wimbledon as she seems to really enjoy it.

All the charity stuff they do is tax deductible. They don't do it out of the goodness of their hearts sadly. That's why Harry and Megs do it. And donate to their own (tax deductible) foundation.

One also has to ask why VB fashion business is allowed to keep trading when it runs at such a huge loss. And maybe look at why it's running at a huge loss..

Yes his coffin chasing showing what a lovely man he was so it put him in a good light is disgraceful.
He didn't become a footballer nor did he have his career for the good of the people of the UK, he did it all for himself so quite why the smug slimeball should be 'Knighted' is beyond me.
That said I never understand why these pop stars and actors and footballers get the gongs for feathering their own nests when there are amazing 'normal' citizens of the UK who (don't apply and pay thousands and thousands to apply to Awards Intell.) are ignored.

This was one of the problems VB had with Nicola. She was the very confident daughter of a billionaire and didn’t want to fall in line, turning up for every family brand photoshoot in matching nightie.

His knighthood is baffling. He was a crap captain for England and really let us down with that petulant kick.

I understand why people think this. Yes charity donations are tax deductible. But…. You still have to actually pay them to qualify for that 😂 so it’s not an overall benefit, you just avoid paying tax on the donation.

re the knighthood tom bower was clear on this- his knighthood had been blocked for many years by lord kerslake, on the basis of his dodgy tax affairs (which wasn’t charity donation related, it’s because they use complex business structures to reduce tax, in a way that’s aggressive for such a small business)

bob kerslake passed away mid 2023. Then look how quickly it was rushed through. Beckham had more supporters than mortal checks

This is your idea. That’s not how wealth or income generation is measured. Of course you aren’t able to directly link their income to their “brand” so can’t know what impact it does or doesn’t have.

a normal brand would measure sales growth after their campaign. I’m sure the Beckhams do that, but we don’t have access to it.

I think that they think that the family walkabouts are important for the brand but whether they are? They thought exposing Brooklyn was ok too- they’re not actually that smart.

Beckhams money was made a long time ago in a different time when there was lots of money in image, and he had a desirable image. That money is invested, growing more and more and more money. The amounts they’ve earned and the longevity of it is astonishing.
But they were of their time and they are nowhere near as valuable now. Now is not their money making period.

landlordhell · 30/01/2026 13:47

In the Victoria Beckham Netflix show ahe said when she was 7 she told her mum to make a snowman outfit so that she could get the part in the school play by saying she had the costume already. Steely ambition and her mum was complicit. The apple doesn’t fall far…
