Victoria Beckham used to be so different

I like her and think Brooklyn’s recent posts are awful.

I was looking on YouTube today and a video came up of her over the years, mainly with the spice girls and when younger. She was so funny, so cheeky and seemed so strong & confident. She did full, proper smiles and laughs, so nice to see.
Totally different to now, is it just age and we were all probably more like that in our youth?

This is your idea. That’s not how wealth or income generation is measured. Of course you aren’t able to directly link their income to their “brand” so can’t know what impact it does or doesn’t have.

a normal brand would measure sales growth after their campaign. I’m sure the Beckhams do that, but we don’t have access to it.

I think that they think that the family walkabouts are important for the brand but whether they are? They thought exposing Brooklyn was ok too- they’re not actually that smart.

Beckhams money was made a long time ago in a different time when there was lots of money in image, and he had a desirable image. That money is invested, growing more and more and more money. The amounts they’ve earned and the longevity of it is astonishing.
But they were of their time and they are nowhere near as valuable now. Now is not their money making period.

DB has broken up his companies to avoid tax and sold a lot off to raise cash. Probably to bail VB out.

landlordhell · 30/01/2026 13:54

She was such an Essex girl, her accent is unrecognisable. As well as her nose! At least DB still sounds authentic. This is why she is so awkward and unnatural because she is always putting on an act.

Are you suggesting he doesn’t have as much money?

Because avoiding tax and raising cash just indicates more wealth, not less 😂

landlordhell · 30/01/2026 13:57

No of course im not. This is David Beckham!😂

His knighthood is baffling. He was a crap captain for England and really let us down with that petulant kick.

Apparently it was for all his charity work, which could be seen as a means to an end, if you’re cynical!

Butchyrestingface · 30/01/2026 14:08

I was about to start first year of university when the Spice Girls took off. She doesn't seem radically different now to how she seemed then, imo. She was always quite guarded.

Allseeingallknowing · 30/01/2026 14:09

Brooklyn has the weirdest eyes!

You listen to her voice in the first episode of her doc. Look at her face .
If ahe wanted to be a designer why didnt she go and study it? She didn’t seem to recognise her own pieces in the doc . It’s her team.

Her team, unfortunately, would likely be nowhere without her. A symbiotic relationship between those behind the scenes with excellent practical skills & her as spokesperson & brand ambassador.

Someone upthread said industry professionals, who know more than we do say she has truly earned her seat at fashion table & has excellent own brand nous.

She wouldn't be anywhere without Roland Mouret in fairness. He was the one behind her first few seasons, and mentored her, and you can tell.

She had some really nice pieces that had a definite Roland Mouret vibe to them. Her collections now are nothing like (or as good) as those first few collections.

The satin nighties she so loves look like they would go up in flames and cause so much static. The overly long trousers look stupid.

landlordhell · 30/01/2026 14:48

The leather jacket in the doc that she didn’t even realise was hers!!😂😂 Then zipped it up so we couldn’t see her face. I thought she was joking but no.
Im a similar age to her and I would just love her to be herself and stop trying to be someone else. They’ve made millions, relax!

I understand why people think this. Yes charity donations are tax deductible. But…. You still have to actually pay them to qualify for that 😂 so it’s not an overall benefit, you just avoid paying tax on the donation.

re the knighthood tom bower was clear on this- his knighthood had been blocked for many years by lord kerslake, on the basis of his dodgy tax affairs (which wasn’t charity donation related, it’s because they use complex business structures to reduce tax, in a way that’s aggressive for such a small business)

bob kerslake passed away mid 2023. Then look how quickly it was rushed through. Beckham had more supporters than mortal checks

Apologies I confused the UK tax system with the US one (where it's written off - hence celebs often donating to their own charities or foundations) and if you're an ordained minister etc in the US you don't pay tax at all. I used to work as a talent agent and looked after a musician who became a minister for exactly this reason.

I read that the Queen really disliked DB for his cheating and tax avoidance and had a hand in blocking him.
Either way he exposed himself with the emails when he had his paddy about it. Revolting, vain little man.

That’s interesting on Roland Mouret. The dresses were so flattering especially if you had size 12 type curves. Her £ can buy her the collab NB too Augustinus Bader & VB skincare.

I predict success for Brooklyn in same way. If you can buy in the expertise & infrastructure you’ll succeed eventually if you’re personally invested.

Please stop using the word “paddy” to refer to a petulant temper tantrum. It is an anti Irish slur.

It's also bad form to say "had/threw a fit". Objections are valid, but I feel a bit sad about this. There's probably some reason we shouldn't say "tantrum" unless talking about an actual toddler, too. "Strop" is considered slang.

I like colourful language. Seems a bit dull to say "expressed disproportionate anger".

Don’t know why you’d say that’s “ridiculous”. Seems casual anti Irish prejudice truly is the last acceptable prejudice among the Brits.

Piglet89 · 30/01/2026 15:49

@GarlicSoundall of the examples you have given don’t involve the implication that Irish people are uncontrolled louts who can’t control their temper. It is a racist slur - but one of the very last to fall. The protests against my challenge of it speak VOLUMES.

He is someone who lived a life VERY unlike a minister of any faith should live 😁 but he told me that's why he had himself ordained and didn't pay taxes.
He earned so much money as well, and other than the occasional thing he'd post online about Jesus I didn't see anything minister like about his life.

I watched a documentary about TV evangelist Kenneth Copeland who had so much wealth from his religion through his followers tithing that nobody knew how much money he had.
He has jet planes and a massive mansion and because he pays no taxes nobody knows how much money he has. He is easily a billionaire.

And there is nothing God-like about that man either.

It's very lucrative to run a religion in the US.

Jellybelly66 · 30/01/2026 16:01

Wake up people it's just an image🙄 We have no idea what her or her family are really like we are just sold a brand. Personally I think it's hilarious that the family is just like everyone else's and proves that money doesn't buy you perfection or happiness. It's all just fake but if they were their true selves no-one would probably be interested in them.
Just my opinion!! Meanwhile real important things are happening in the world....

Written off against what? In the uk if you donated £100 your tax liability would be reduced by £100, and say you pay 50% tax you had avoided paying £50 tax. But that cost you £100, so you’re not “up”

the advantage is if that £100 was spent on materials, services or publicity, you got £100 of value and saved tax.

how do Americans make donations and somehow benefit by more than the value of the donation?
