Kanye’s comeback - will you forgive him? Do you care?

he apologises for his anti semitism and for his harm to the black community

i think he’s unwell but I think he’s a symbol of the terrifying rise of the far right and their ‘family values’

his music will always be legendary but I separate the art from the artist 😬🤷‍♀️

That said, I was expecting a comeback so I am not surprised. It was on my 2026 bingo card

Kanye West apologizes for ‘reckless’ antisemitism in full-page Wall Street Journal ad: ‘I am not a Nazi’

“I regret and am deeply mortified by my actions in that state, and am committed to accountability, treatment, and meaningful change,” the rapper wrote.

I don’t like his music, but if I did, I’d still listen. I’m not really interested in the views of musicians I like.

I do know someone with bipolar and when it’s not under control, their actions and behaviours are really shocking, have been dangerous and a million miles from who they are when it’s controlled. It’s an awful illness.

He’s an appalling human being. He just wanted to get on the alt-right grift and came out with the most disgusting things imaginable to win him over the MAGA/redpill/ethnonationalist crowd. Songs praising Hitler, merchandise with swastikas on, wearing KKK hoodies and memorabilia, racist slurs and lyrics, stating he wanted to kill all Jews and black people etc, appalling treatment, oversexualisation and exploitation of his children, ex, current partner, friends and others in the industry.

He’s psychotic, a degenerate and disgusting. It’s not a case that he “went to far” and an apology can redeem himself. It’s not like he said a stupid comment and can go on an apology tour, he tried to both initiate and capitalise on a race war. He revelled in the fact that he was committing abhorrent racism as part of the grift.

The article highlights how many awful things he’s done and this isn’t even half of it.

I don’t doubt he has some sort of mental illness but to blame it on that is ridiculous and pathetic. He knew exactly what he was doing and initiating over the last half a decade or so.

Your ignorance is ridiculous and pathetic.

Man exhibits very obvious signs of severe mental illness that he is known to have.

Behaviour very much in line with the symptoms of the mental illness he is known to have.

You - acknowledge he has some sort of mental illness, but think it's irrelevant and blame it on the man instead 😂

Perhaps it's not ignorance, you just think it's to judge people for behaving very unwell when they are in fact very unwell.

I think as a father, he's got a duty to take his medication and keep himself as well as he's able to. Which clearly he doesn't.

He's also an A grade arsehole, medicated or not.

Oh that it were as simple as sticking to a med list.

It’s bipolar 1. By it’s very nature it isn’t static. There needs to be constant adjustment as the mania & depression cycles. What worked before can stop having the desired effects.

For a good 15 years managing late MIL’s meds was like playing whack-a-mole set to impossibly difficult mode.

The very last adjustment took her from wholly manic, to almost catatonic from depression, to dead in less than 8 weeks. The impact last resort meds, being used at a crisis point, can have on various organs is not to be sniffed at.

No skin in the game with regards to his career/music. Frankly it might be better for him to live a much simpler life, out of the spotlight. But the idea that people with the illness on the severe end “just” need to be responsible and take the prescribed meds and all will & stay largely stabilised is an absolute myth

Taking accountability is always a good thing.
But actions speak louder than words.
It's Kanye. So, I'm not really buying what he's selling.

Me either. Especially when the things he is selling are tshirts with Nazi symbols on them.

I don’t know, it’s very hard to know and I only say this because I have a lifelong friend who was sectioned after being diagnosed with schizophrenia who, when he was having an episode (apologies if not the correct term) used to call me up and accuse me sleeping with his boyfriend, call me a c..t and telling me he was f…ing my brother and my husband. None of which was remotely true, but at the time he really believed all of it to be so.

I do agree with other posters though who say, you can have awful mental health issues and be a wanker. I think that probably best sums up Kanye.

MeinKraft · 31/01/2026 23:39

I care as much about Kanye as he cares about me.

And his music isn’t legendary… he’s a has been who was more well know because of the kardashians IMO.

Not really. Kanye actually has talent, the same can't be said for any of the kardashians whose only claim to fame seems to be sleeping with famous black men. Not excusing what he said, but they are def not his claim to fame, he is theirs.

You are right. It isn't static. My DP took many meds before lithium did the trick and balanced his mania and deep depressive episodes. He came off lithium after a year and had no further episodes until post Covid when he began to have them again, ten years after his lithium treatment ended. He's now on other medications which he takes religiously. It is a vile illness not only for the sufferer (who is so happy when in a manic mood, but desperate when in a depressive one) but also for carers.
