To think far-right evangelicals, so called 'Christians' forget that God is the final judge?

The Bible at least says so. I'm not religious btw.

This lot seem to be such a hateful mob. Those in the US and here in the UK.

The most judgemental, hypocritical twats of all time. A massive pull back on women's rights, murder, kidnapping... disappearances, sychophantic behaviour towards the filthy rich, powerful and corrupt, vitriolic onslaught of brown/asian/african people, disabled and LGBT. Not even the lowest of whispers from this mob about rampant domestic violence, paedophilia, rape and femicide from White men in the US and UK.

The Orange Blob and Tommy Tens/Fibbing Farage seem to worshipped as the US and UK's respective new messiahs. AIBU to think far right Christians are a disease and will be the death of Western civilisation?

Please correct me if I'm wrong. Please add any other observations you have made. I am fully aware that there are other cultures/countries were there is discord or mayhem though somewhere in their history they have imperialism and more recently the US to thank for that.

I think you’re assuming a contradictory connection between evangelicals and politics which doesn’t necessarily exist. If we’re focusing on evangelicals, the evangelical movement is incredibly disparate, and many evangelical churches also teach sola fide and sola gratia - meaning that salvation is achieved by faith alone and by God’s grace alone, and there is no act or work humans can do to be deserving of or to obtain that salvation. (That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved - Romans 10:9-11.)

In short, there’s no consistent evangelical dogma about the need to be Christ-like or to practice Biblical teachings in your day to day life in order to gain entry to heaven - though some evangelical churches do, at least in theory, encourage their congregations to use the Bible’s teachings to guide their actions and opinions (with the Bible being such a complex mishmash of oft-contradictory narratives, it’s easy to see how this allows for some varied results.)

Alot of Americans believe they are paving the way for the literal Second Coming of Christ to solve all the "problems" of the world, and believe the ends justify the means. Alot of other rich powerful people use that psychology for their own ends. It's madness.

This with bells on. This radicalism will be the downfall of the USA.

I’m confused. What’s making you think I don’t know this?

Sorry, what I mean is, in reference to lack of support from UK churches, these extremists will use Christianity as a stick to beat others with to maintain their privileges.
Some churches may publically denounce the political far right, but in closed spaces, discuss their white supremist ideology and favour towards the UK becoming a theocracy, the support of still legalised conversion therapy and abolishing women's reproductive rights. I know it happens, I have come across it, in person and in the wider media.

I saw an instagram post that made the best point

political right wing ‘Christian’s’ are big on the Ten Commandments but ignore the beatitudes

the beatitudes are actually the codes for being a good Christian- no salvation without observing them.

I am agnostic but raised in the Christian faith - my mum is a radical lefty and Christian- she sees socialism and the Christian message as fairly interwoven

These people are not Christians. God can tell the difference you know 🤷‍♀️

I fear that the UK is not that far behind with this madness.

Gay conversion therapy is still legal in the UK. Farage has already spoken on reproductive rights and views on women, universal healthcare, the disabled, etc. He's already stirred up a growing mob with his daily aired conflated and false diatribes. Same with Tommy/Yaxley-Lennon.

When is this hyperbole going to end? Get a grip.

They're not Christians. They're about as far away from Christ's teachings as it's possible to get. They're not Christians and they don't represent Christianity. They're an abomination.

Correct !

From what I see Islamic extremism is a bigger problem world wide and a bigger hypocrite in that in claims to be religion my peace. Isis, al queida (however you spell it) , what the taliban are doing to can right now to women, and the iranian regime etc. Somehow this gets pass though or played down.

Trump and actions are not in the name of evangelicalism. He wasn’t and isn’t a practicing christian before his presidency and only holds loose affiliation to get elected. Neither is reform or whatever in the UK though there is a push for ‘christian values’ recently (against the growth of islam here).

In the UK, evangelical churches are full of people of colour and are definitely not a white only movement.

We don't live in those countries? Islamic extremism was never a problem until middle eastern countries were INVADED FOR OIL.
Statiscally, there are far, far more fatalities and uncovered terrorist plots in the US from far right white Christian extremists than from Islamic extremism. It is worth noting that the only country in the middle east that prohibits Christianity as a practising religion is Saudi Arabia, who the orange one is allied with.
Further, the greatest cause of infant mortality in the US is gunshot wound/mass shootings.

Check your facts

You are missing that a lot of religion is co-opted by evil. The sad thing is a lot of evangelicals believe in spiritual warfare and genuinely want to be a force for good but end up being victims to the force of evil.

There are cynical awful people co-opting religion for their own ends, then there are the misled.

I do wonder what goes through the mind of someone who genuinely wants to be the light of Christ and follow God's commandments when they end up supporting ICE killings, or saying awful racist claptrap like Charlie Kirk did.

There's a awful lot of Christian faithful who end up being part of the problem not part of the solution.

JD Vance is heavily Catholic and I don't know how he sleeps at night. He can't believe in hell. I am no one to judge unfortunately.

Ah, more Christian bashing. The only religion that's acceptable to publicly slag off, well aside from Judaism.

Basically, a large proportion of evangelicals (regardless whether black/white or which denomination) think they can do want they want and get what they want and will still go to heaven regardless because they have declared Jesus as their own true saviour and he will atone them for their sins as a result of it. Liars and hypocrits.

They are not bashing Christianity, they are pointing out the hypocritical nature of those who say they are Christian, and then behave in the most unchristian like manner.

I’m a Catholic. The Pope, who is infallible and Gods representative on Earth, is very clear about how we should welcome immigrant and refugees, and how we should only seek to spread Peace & Love - so Vance might want to check out his understanding of Catholicism

I think you are right, but also that this isn’t an exclusively right-wing thing.

You can make a good case for both left wing and right wing politics from the Bible.

I think many, many, many people put their politics first, and then read the scripture to support their view. That to me fits the description of “forgetting that God is the final judge”.

I think those few (on both sides) who think “I really might have got God wrong [on immigration, LGBTQ, any other current topic you care to name], even though it would make me a pariah in my circle” are the ones who are safest from your charge. The smug certain leftists and the smug certain rightists are the ones to bet against at judgment day.

(Am an atheist, but with a lot of Christian background, and don’t think the Bible makes easy reading for any modern political tribe).

Hang on… isn’t this the fundamental Christian message? Not that we should do as we like, but that salvation depends on personal acceptance of Christ, not good-behaviour brownie points? And that Christ washes away all sins?

I’m a bit rusty but surely I didn’t get that bit wrong?
