So upset about the killings. No investigation and victim blaming from the Trump administration. I see no hope for America. Trump will cancel the midterms possibly elections or will rig them. The most powerful western country - one we thought was our friend is dying
im so sad for the bereaved and do sad for the country

Americans have the right to bear arms as long as they are supporters of Trump. Nobody else has this right. Descending into a nation of thugs and fascists, plus their creepy indoctrinated enablers.

See also the right to freedom of speech.

The number of commentors on social media at the moment who are entirely comfortable with citizens being summarily exexcuted - gloating even - because they have "liberal" views is terrifying.

Echobelly · 25/01/2026 14:01

Yes, the implications of this are terrible. It's revolting that in these instances the regime's first reaction (and I'm calling it a regime now, it's not 'government') is to direct all its power into smearing their victims - private individuals, whose family and friends have no power and influence but the regime is so scared of people understanding the truth they feel they just have to get enough people to believe a lie.

And what's also enraging is that, as has been pointed out, this is the 'nightmare' the right-win gun-rights people have been saying they've been preparing to fight since forever - Federal agents removing an American's legally owned and carried armament. Are they going to rise up and fight? No, they're going to go 'Oh, well the government can do that if they really want, please just let our side keep our guns'. They've also been saying for years that gun deaths - like Sandy Hook and countless others - are the price you pay for having guns ready to overpower a corrupt government. So if you're kind of sick enough to believe that dead children are the price you pay for being able to fight the government - well those people have died for nothing, then, because people have guns, they have a corrupt government and they are sitting there cheering that government on.

You’re literally lying. We’ve seen the footage. We know what happened. You’re traducing the innocent dead, you’re disgusting.

Trump doesn't run elections. The states run them.

What like Trump said ‘musk did amazing things on the computer, he’s amazing like that’ he can and will rig it

Bigwelshlamb · 25/01/2026 14:11

A man was executed for exercising his 1st and 2nd amendment rights... It's a homicide and I have no idea where this is going to end but I know it isn't good.

ISIS murdered hundreds of thousands of people in the most grotesque ways.

I’m appalled by this grotesque summary execution but this stinks of ‘1 white life is worth many brown lives, hence we can compare a lesser killer of white people with the bigger mass slaughter of brown people’

youre probably right sadly. There are many things that make people more sympathetic to a victim . The more like you or your family and children the victims are the more upset you’ll be. We all need to be aware of this trick of psychology and we shouldn’t pretend it doesn’t exist. Evolutionarily it makes sense as you are protecting your own tribe / genetic stock. But we should strive to be above basic biological instincts while being aware that they are part of our makeup

Watching the footage, it’s not good. Unlike Renee Good (who did literally hit an ICE agent) it doesn’t seem like he was doing anything particularly dangerous.

ICE shouldn’t have to be concerned about protestors, they have a job to do. If the local police cannot ensure safety, then we may need to call in the National Guard. Not joking.

You are mistaken

I don't think they are from the west , I refuse to believe they are real opinions i can't be arsed to search for posting history.

I am very far from being a supporter of Trump or right wing parties in general, but he got 77 million votes in 2024, and this time people definitely knew who and what they were voting for given it was a second term.

So I don't think you can dismiss these opinions as not real.

It was an execution

Its impacting me deeply. Its like a bad dystopian novel

Same here. That's a brilliant description of what's happening.."dystopian".

Samanthajane5 · 25/01/2026 14:28

It was the same when Trump was last in power.

At the start there was a lot of noise about making America great again. Then Trump went too crazy, Americans got fed up of him and wanted something else.

It took four years for them to forget.

They voted him again. The cycle starts again.

After this, there will probably be a huge swing to vote for a sensible Democrat candidate. then after four years of a more left wing leadership, the make america great again tribe will raise their heads again.

Why doesn't America ever get out of this Republican/Democrat constnat four year cycle

Topseyt123 · 25/01/2026 14:33

I totally agree, OP. The murderous ICE needs to be disbanded but Trump is unlikely to do that. He likes this badly trained militia of gung ho thugs. They are very like him really

I think we are seeing the sad (and scarily swift) demise of American democracy, and the rise of a terrifying Trump dictatorship.

The utter fools who continue to sing the praises of Trump, both on here and elsewhere, still do not see this even though it is blindingly obvious. None so blind as those who do not want to see!

The US is no longer anyone's ally. There is no longer any form of "special relationship", except possibly between Trump and Putin and that is worrying.

I'm really hoping for free and fair mid-term elections, though not holding my breath at all. If the results go against Trump then he is likely to claim they were rigged and then there will be carnage of one form or another.

How long before Trump challenges the constitutional amendment that allows only two terms as President? I have been half expecting that and he could still try it.

He's honestly a nightmare and America needs to get rid of him. How though, and who or what replaces him? Vance is no better.

When I was a school child in the 90s, learning about fascism and the Holocaust, I didn't understand how the normal people didn't resist, and how they turned in their neighbours, how they ignored the concentration camps just outside town.

Guess we get to see how it happens in real time now.

I think we're already seeing it tbh.

And while I have been wondering for months why decent Americans haven't been doing more to resist, I'm now starting to recognise a) that many of them have been trying really hard to resist, as we have seen in Minneapolis, and b) why the summary execution of peaceful protesters in the streets might make many people too afraid to resist going forward.

Those who continue to come out on the streets in protest now are really brave. I hope that I would have the courage to do that in their situation, but I guess the reality is that none of us really know how we would react if faced with the reality that is now staring decent US citizens in the face.

It is terrifying to see just how quickly democracy, the rule of law and constitutional checks and balances can collapse. There are lessons here for us all.

I could understand how they turned in their neighbours.

If your own life is at threat, you do it. People were killed for hiding Jews.

I'm less than convinced that there will be a swing to the Democrats at the next election. I don't think the current administration will allow that to happen.

I think Vance is worse. And I suspect that he is already pulling a lot of strings behind the scenes. I imagine that Trump is pretty easy to manipulate as long as you keep flattering him and make him think that everything is his own idea.

Yep, we have to face the reality that, within a democracy, vast swathes of the population actively chose fascism.

It's difficult not to lose all faith in humanity at this point.

Dementia Don has pulled out of the World Health Organisation too. He’s evil incarnate.

Samanthajane5 · 25/01/2026 14:59

If it was happening in our country, would you go to the protest.

I would have fear of being killed, but I think the feeling of wanting to stand up to them would make me go to the protest

I'll save my sympathy for someone who doesn't have a firearm on them and a country that doesn't encourage their citizens to carry firearms.

My husband is American and has lived in the UK for over 25 years. He is very anti gun but says if he had to live there again he would definitely have a gun just because of the many many nutters who have one. People there don't always have guns because they are pro gun.

How does a gun defend against a gun though.

If the other person pulls out a gun, we wouldnt have time to pull out our own gun, before they shoot

God, that's like all the gangs in the UK carrying knives because 'everyone else has them' and it's to 'protect themselves innit'.

I'd say not carrying a loaded weapon in the US <or a knife in this country> is the sensible thing to do.

I saw a great quote that said in Nazi Germany a third of the population were happy to.see another third murdered while the remaining third watched.

So hard to believe until you.see the vile comments made by MAGA supporters rejoicing in people being murdered in cold blood.
It is impossible to comprehend the evil .
But unlike Nazi Germany this time around so many people are recording the atrocities that it is impossible to deny the truth no matter how much they try to gaslight people.

How is it hard to believe. Humans have been doing this to each other, over and over and over.

Groups of humans always seem to want to feel superior to other humans.

Do you think that immigrants are treated well in the UK?

Immigrants are not being killed in the UK, but they are definitely not treated well. I have seen a lot of white,British superiority going on.

well I find it hazard to believe that the US has so quickly degenerated into.a practically fascist regime.Sorry if that offends you !
