So upset about ICE killings in Minnesota

So upset about the killings. No investigation and victim blaming from the Trump administration. I see no hope for America. Trump will cancel the midterms possibly elections or will rig them. The most powerful western country - one we thought was our friend is dying
im so sad for the bereaved and do sad for the country

Watching the footage, it’s not good. Unlike Renee Good (who did literally hit an ICE agent) it doesn’t seem like he was doing anything particularly dangerous.

ICE shouldn’t have to be concerned about protestors, they have a job to do. If the local police cannot ensure safety, then we may need to call in the National Guard. Not joking.

Thank you for acknowledging that it is evident from the footage that this guy wasn't a threat.

What do you think of the lies being told by Kristi Noem about Pretti brandishing a gun?

StrikeForever · 25/01/2026 12:35

anotherside · 25/01/2026 10:22

Seems like this man “literally” didn’t pull a gun before being executed in broad daylight.

And Renee Good wasn’t driving over the murderer who was at the side of her vehicle when he shot her in the face as she turned to him 🤷‍♀️

I still cling to some hope that there will somehow be free and fair midterms, but I wouldn't bet anything on it.

The collapse it truly astonishing, and - sadly - Europe needs to invest heavily in defence.

I can't imagine the despair that decent/unbrainwashed Americans must be feeling.

And we should be alive to the threat in the UK, too. America got to this point because right wing news outlets have shamelessly spewed propaganda for decades.

GB News' website right now....

The threat to us is not abstract, it's real. Regarding GB news, I can only hope that Ofcom seriously takes into account the amount of exposure of extreme right ideology on that propaganda mouthpiece when they calculate speaking time across all channels during the lead up to the next GE.

Anyone who thinks staying home and keeping out of it is the smart choice, would be wise to consider this poem featured by the holocaust memorial

Maybe they do... but the important factor here that we are discussing is that they shouldn't be shot!!
Ffs no law enforcement would EVER get away with acting like this in the UK and absolutely correctly.
These people were executed without any trial at all basically. Just had their lives taken away.
I dont care what they were or weren't doing. Unless they were directly pointing a gun at someone then there was absolutely no need to shoot them.
Absolutely disgusting over use of force. Really frightening.
There's no evidence they threatened life. Where's the investigations?
Where's the concrete proof that it was the right course of action to end these human beings lives?
Do you honestly not care about that

No UK law enforcement agency would act like that - yet. Give it time if the far right gains power. It's a very scary thought and the complacency about it is astonishing.

GB news should be taken off air for broadcasting disinformation.

GB news should be taken off air for broadcasting disinformation.

That would be the ideal outcome but is it realistically going to happen?

OriginalUsername2 · 25/01/2026 12:45

What’s most scary to me is that there are multiple videos showing multiple angles yet some people will still just blatantly lie about what we can clearly see with our fucking eyes!

HostaCentral · 25/01/2026 12:49

No different from suppression of dissent in Iran. It's truly horrifying how DT can condemn Iran, even threaten military intervention, and do exactly the same to his own people, or rather the "wrong' kind of people.

It's really disturbing, isn't it? Just blatant lies about what we can clearly see, especially in this latest case. Do they think if they keep lying, that we'll eventually believe it? I don't understand the motivation as they (like the person posting lies upthread) are just making themselves look stupid/brainwashed/like deliberate liars, and surely they can see that - I can't believe they actually think people will be like "Oh right, I watched the video but some poster on Mumsnet says something completely different happened, so I'll just change my mind".

The daily mail has done an analysis saying it absolutely refutes homeland security claims . In depth video analysis says his gun was taken out his pocket before he was then pepper sprayed and hit the floor . He wasn’t ’ brandishing ‘ at the agents .

No, it won't happen, of course. But it should.

At the very least, they should not be allowed to brand themselves as a news channel.

It really shows you just how far the US has sunk when even the Daily Mail comes out against the federal agents who had been brought in to get rid of immigrants.

AD1509 · 25/01/2026 12:59

They don’t need to stay at home. They aren’t doing anything illegal. The drooling, knuckle dragging, brain dead ICE thugs going around murdering innocent civilians is the issue here. If you can’t understand that….well maybe you have a bright future as an ICE agent.

HostaCentral · 25/01/2026 13:02

It's not even murder at this point. It's state sanctioned execution. He was lying face down on the ground and they shot him seven times. Seven times..... Seven.

It was an execution

Its impacting me deeply. Its like a bad dystopian novel

ChangeIsDue · 25/01/2026 13:14

It would be appalling and horrific wherever it happened of course. But it’s desperately sad that it’s Minneapolis. We visited there for family reasons about 10 years ago and it would be the last place that I would have expected there to be any kind of violence, frankly. But I have to say that one of the immigration officers at the airport was nasty. Although we had absolutely no intention of breaching our visas, we hadn’t set a definite return date. At that point I didn’t realise I should have just played the game and given them a date regardless. I also shouldn’t have pointed out their notice on the wall saying that their immigration officers would be welcoming and respectful, because they were being the very opposite, That’s what they are like outside the main international airports. It was the most awful welcome to America I’ve ever had and I’ve been visited the USA affair few times.

Once we got outside the airport everyone we encountered in Minneapolis was just lovely. So awful for them and of course for Americans in general that it has come to this.

I've read so many sci fi novels about America sliding into a dictatorship, but it usually follows some sort of war or plague.
Never thought it would just be because, "oh we elected this guy who turned out to be worse than we thought, but noone liked the other guy so we doubled down and went with it"
And in the end noone really cared about all those constitutional rights 🤷‍♀️

Not with a bang but a whimper.
Well no bangs as yet, give it time 😬

drivinmecrazy · 25/01/2026 13:36

I’m so confused as to why this is being covered so lightly by our media.
it’s not about the death of one man (and one woman), it’s about what this will become.
There is an under trained militia on the streets of US cities that know they have the cover of POTUS should they shoot (to kill)
I heard an interesting discussion last night that asked why were ICE always recording on their phones.
Scarily the conclusion is that they can’t wear body cameras because that would record any incidents in their entirety.
By using phones they are only recording what they want.

This fact alone terrified me and told me all I need to know about the rules of engagement for these ICE militia

I've just checked the betting odds and Reform is favourite to win the next general election, with Farage as Prime Minister.

Meadowfinch · 25/01/2026 13:53

This is exactly like early stage National Socialism. In a few years, those on here making excuses for ICE and Trump, will be whining "we didn't know" and "It wasn't our fault".

Their ignorance and stupidity turns my stomach.

They're making the mistake of assuming that Trump and his cronies will always be on their side.

Figmentofmyimagination · 25/01/2026 13:55

Americans have the right to bear arms as long as they are supporters of Trump. Nobody else has this right. Descending into a nation of thugs and fascists, plus their creepy indoctrinated enablers.
