AIBU to think this is a bit nuts? Trans woman is being praised online for still working at 37 weeks into her "simulated" pregnancy

I have just read on Facebook about this transgender woman, Gabrielle Darone, aged 32, who simulated a pregnancy last year in order to address "gender dysphoria about not being able to carry a child". She wore a fake belly and simulated morning sickness, breathing difficulties, tiredness and other symptoms. She blogged about her experience and received a lot of praise online for still continuing to work at 37 weeks into her "pregnancy".

AIBU to think this is just crazy? Wearing a fake belly and pretending to have pregnancy symptoms is absolutely NOTHING like the real difficulties that women who are actually pregnant have to go through. Sometimes I think I am on a different planet.

This is a mentally unwell person and the people ‘supporting’ him are either also mentally unwell or it’s rage bait.

Its like when trolls start threads just to wind MNers up.

The best thing people could do is not pay it any attention.
But I can guarantee that there would be 100s of comment of how “I worked at 37 weeks and I was actually pregnant” type comments.
And that just gives this person more attention.

Some people will literally do anything for attention.
Clout is one hell of a drug.

It's 'The Handmaid's Tale' meets 'Psycho' - not going to lie I would totally watch that horror film!

gruit · 21/01/2026 12:42

and this isn’t classified as mental illness. Batshit.

I Googled this and the only link was to a Facebook post claiming this happened and mocking it.

Is it even a true story?

It’s always good to check but yes, if you google his name there are several accounts and it was live on Facebook at the time.

With considerable horror, I found that a search on his name also revealed a young girl in the public eye, with that exact, very unusual name. She is a Princess.

Disordered men like this often pick a name of a woman or girl they find on the internet. A terrible example of this was the paedophile in Wales convicted of sexually abusing his daughter over most of her childhood. He was convicted and then decided to identify as a woman in prison. He chose the name Claire Fox - the name of a very brilliant Baroness who works tirelessly for women and girls in the House of Lords. Apart from the obvious offence caused to her, it also has the advantage (to him) of forever besmirching her name by linking it on internet searches with a convicted paedophile.

He was released from prison after serving his sentence and the prison service were not intending to tell his daughter, the victim of his name change or release. They deemed his rights to privacy more important than her right to know if her paedophile father was back living in her local area and what band he was using.

There’s a thread on MN about it somewhere.

I googled too - " transwoman simulated pregnancy" and there were Reddit discussions of men wanting to do this and discussing how, but I couldn't find any sources that looked trustworthy for this particular story.

Brefugee · 21/01/2026 12:45

Frankly? at this stage i want more of it. I want it on the news, in the headlines. All over the internet.

More and more and more of it.

Because from where I'm sitting a) most people have no idea of the batshittery 2) sunlight is always good and iii) the "tru trans" might finally speak up and tell the pretenders to butt right out

(are we sure this isn't parody?)

Im sorry but i just laughed out loud at this. The world is mad.

The question is is this man mentally unwell or a pervert.

Why not both?

SlayBelle · 21/01/2026 11:56

It was even worse than that.

He simulated a still birth and then went on breastfeeding sites asking to breastfeed someone else's baby because it would help him with his grief.

It's all on Reddit if you google.

I need a baby to suck my nipples...
🤢🤢🤮🤮🤮🤮

It's not a "bit" nuts.

I'm confused, is this a 'transgender woman' as in a woman who is transgender, a biological woman, who identifies as a man, who still wants the experience of pregnancy but for some reason is unable to become pregnant? Or a trans identified man who wants to play at pregnancy? The use by some people of 'she' and others of 'he' makes it very difficult to understand the situation.
If this is a biological woman, then this is extremely sad. If its a biological man then it's appalling behaviour.

This is a man.

And it is appalling behaviour.

The women in the support groups were harmed by a man who was using them as a resource for his fantasy and / or for attention.

This is why groups for support that are female only need to be able to fully exclude all male people.

RhannionKPSS · 21/01/2026 13:02

Is that the same bam who joined a pregnancy support group too?
He is an utter degenerate

I've found his blog. What a load of navel gazing rubbish. I feel so sorry for his wife and children.

But all the accounts are on social media pages (including Reddit) claiming it happened but no trustworthy sources with links to a news article on the story.

He used women to indulge his fetish, and was seeking a baby to do the same.

Why not both?

I fear that one in some way excuses the other.

OTOH if he gets proper treatment to rid him of his delusions that can only be a good thing.

For what crime?
