38 passengers stood in a stairwell for 40 minutes at Manchester airport this morning. The plane left without them and their baggage was not removed which is a massive safety breach!

Not excusing what went on but the initial witness account in the OP's Manchester Evening.News link stated:

"but were left standing in the stairwell for up to 40 minutes without any idea of what was going on."

Yes its different, in the bbc article she says that a member of staff looked at them through a window after 40 mins

the quote in the MEN can be taken perhaps to mean that at the 40 minute point they were given information about what might be going on. It doesnt say they only stayed there for 40 mins

On the other hand the 2 hour comment in the bbc might be an exaggeration
