Traitors, who do you root for?

I root for the faithfuls even if I do prefer the personality of some of the traitors.

One of my kids roots for the traitors and thinks it’s deeply weird I don’t.

So just to see if I’m actually weird…

YABU = Traitors all the way
YANBU = Go Faithfuls

I always through the point was the audience root for the Traitors. I never know people actually rooted for Faithfuls. All Faithfuls appear to be wet simps while the Traitors are Machiavellian strategists.

I’ve aways rooted for the faithful before this series. I still would have if Rachel hadn’t played such an amazing game.

I was Team Stephen and Rachel till last night, when DH, the DC and I were all 'Faraaz, where have you BEEN'? He was brilliant! The smiling sweet-natured assassin. Really hope he's not the murder victim...

PersephonePistol · 22/01/2026 12:17

Faraaz is the only remaining faithful I have any time for. His explanation of why Rachel is a Traitor was considered, succinct and based on actual observation and evidence. Of course, no one will listen because faithfuls like Roxy are just going to make stupid emotional decisions and go for James.

Although it points directly to Rachel, they really need to have murdered Faraaz last night because she is not winning it with him in the final.

Foggytree · 22/01/2026 12:18

Yes Faraaz is great, so cheerful - would be happy for an internal audit from him!

Rosealea · 22/01/2026 12:19

Love Rachel and Stephen

velvetgeranium · 22/01/2026 12:29

I am hoping for Stephen and his lovely strawberry pink mohair jumper to win.

StitchHappens · 22/01/2026 12:46

I would like Stephen to win it. He had a bit of a rough ride early on, and came through it really well.
I wouldn't mind if James or Faraaz won either. I love that James can't be anything other than himself, he would have been a hilarious traitors! And Faraaz was spot on last night, as well. I think he mentioned Rachel earlier on but said he was sitting on it for a while.
It's hard to know how much editing affects who we root for, but it does seem like most of the people with any personality get kicked out earlier on, and the blander ones are left as faithful, meaning it's easier to want the traitors to win, as they get more screen time too.

MrsPerfect12 · 22/01/2026 12:53

I’d like Faraaz to win but I think he’ll be murdered tonight. So Racheland Stephen for the win! I’d prefer Stephen and don’t trust Rachel won’t double cross him.

darkmoor · 22/01/2026 13:26

I keep wanting the Faithfuls to win through some sort of misguided moral justice.

But Rachel has been excellent. She does nearly all the strategising and leg work, and would be a worthy winner. Stephen less so, mostly makes supportive noises and is benefitting from her efforts.

SleepQuest33 · 22/01/2026 16:53

I’d like Rachel and Stephen to win it together but I think the faithfuls will win. Too many people are on to Stephen and Faraz has unfortunately put doubt in people’s minds about Rachel!

Mumteedum · 22/01/2026 16:57

I will not be happy if Roxy wins. I could live with Faraz after a late brain wave. He's ok.

But I am #TeamRachel

Odditea · 22/01/2026 21:18

I also think Faraaz has been completely underestimated by viewers and players alike. It feels like he was the only one who really knew how the play the Faithful game all along - main goal just not to get murdered. Best way to do that is by playing dumb while working out who the traitors actually are and only voicing that until the time is right. Faraaz might have slipped up though by coming out with his views now because of risk of murder (or maybe his thinking is it would be too obvious to murder him now?).

It does seem like a massive flaw in the game that there’s no real benefit in actually rooting out the traitors until the very end.

I’m rooting for him or for Stephen.

I'm late to this thread, but I guess it works across every iteration of the franchise, so a timeless thread.
I'm always team faithful, no matter whether they're good at finding traitors or not. Simply because they're the underdogs, who have to work way harder to win, or to stay in the game even. Getting the balance right between finding traitors, getting on side enough so they they keep in the game, playing a great social game so other faithfuls don't vote you out. It's exceptionally challenging to be a successful faithful.
I guess if the castle had a class system, the traitors are the ruling class, and the poor downtrodden faithful are the humble workers. So, I've got to be team faithful.
Also, I think the public are often very unfair to faithfuls who are getting it wrong. But, in actual fact, the hopeless faithfuls are most of us! If any of us were playing the game (I wouldn't want to) chances are most would be faithfuls (I definitely would) and chances are we'd be pretty hopeless at finding traitors, as it's extremely hard to do. The game is so heavily weighted in favour of the traitors.
I feel huge empathy towards the 'strong and wrong' players like Roxy, James etc. I think they usually are lovely people. I get upset when people are unkind to them online. James was probably my favourite player in UK series 4. Oh and Jessie, who obviously was a great faithful.
Team faithful always.

Having said all this, I was very happy about the Rachel and Stephen win this year. Rachel was phenomenal, and actually I think she'd have been an amazing faithful too (I'm Northern Irish, so biased!🤭) Stephen was an ethical traitor, and almost felt more like a faithful. His goodness shone through, and I was so happy for him. He, in interview had the grace to admit who couldn't have won as a faithful, as he wasn't good at detective work. I still felt sorry for the poor faithful who missed out at the end though too. Bless them.

I know most people support the traitors, and I don't really understand why, as they're so advantaged. I'll always support the underdogs.
