To ask for Netflix/Amazon movie’s recommendations

I’m stuck in Coronary Care with unstable angina, waiting for a slot for an angiogram. Not allowed home until it’s done (I’ve had it before and after a week had a heart attack so they don’t trust me!).

I have Netflix and Prime. I like sci-if, decent horror (not just gore, more disturbing) and dramas. I don’t mind a cheap rental, but not up for £7-8 for a film.

Help me MN, shamelessly posting for sympathy and suggestions!

i would recommend the traitors on bbc iplayer. I love this and you can go back and watch the previous series (you don’t need to do it in order!)
Also just finished watching runaway n Netflix which was great!

lovethepuppies · 12/01/2026 19:09

Have you watched the series Dexter? Absolutely perfect for your hospital situation!
I have unstable angina too so understand how you feel

Wholetthatgoatin · 12/01/2026 19:10

@twinklelake thank you. I’m not a huge Traitors fan but will have a look at Runaway

Midnight Mass on Netflix - a bit of a supernatural one

Wholetthatgoatin · 12/01/2026 19:11

Hope you are out soon!!

Def give Dexter a go it's fab! Runaway is good. Actually any of the Harlen Coban (spelling might be wrong) collection on Netflix.

How about something light, Abbott Elementary series on Disney. Best of luck

BIossomtoes · 12/01/2026 19:18

Malice on Amazon Prime is fabulous.

Thingamebobwotsit · 12/01/2026 19:19

Mr Mercedes

Have you tried the Knives out films? Not in your preferred genre but quirky.

Resident Alien

Wednesday (surprisngly good!)

The Boys (Prime)

Umbrella Academy

Three brothers Sun

Everything Everywhere All At Once

BangFlash · 12/01/2026 19:23

I watched The Ones Below on Prime the other day, an easy watch with few characters, Hand that rocks the cradle vibes

BangFlash · 12/01/2026 19:25

My fave scifi is The Martian if you haven't watched recently.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 12/01/2026 19:27

Recently on Netflix we’ve enjoyed Jay Kelly, the new Knives Out film (better than the 2nd one) and The Beast In Me. Runaway was ok too.

We’ve also recently watched the first series of The Night Manager in iplayer, having completely missed it last time around.

Specialagentblond · 12/01/2026 19:28

Star Trek discovery is very good

Wholetthatgoatin · 12/01/2026 19:38

Lots to keep me entertained, thanks MN

I ended up watching the Jodie Cromer ,Starts where it ends’ or it might be the other way!

Had angiogram this morning where they found a nasty narrowing so it’s now stented and I’m waiting for discharge. Averted a full blown heart attack, thanks NHS. Xx

I watched "Joy" on Netflix at the weekend. About the work done developing IVF. Really enjoyed it

Watched "The maid" as a series and now watching " the runaway" with James nesbit.

RedRiverShore6 · 13/01/2026 17:28

The Man in the High Castle on Prime is dystopian with a bit of Science fiction.

Glad your OP went well

XelaM · 13/01/2026 17:32

The Invisible Guest (Netflix) - Spanish film but dubbed into English. Honestly one of the best films I have ever seen in my life. Cannot recommend it enough. It's a crime drama.

Wholetthatgoatin · 13/01/2026 21:03

Keep em coming!, I now have nearly 2w off to recuperate
