The more tenuous the better.

I don’t want any of your “My mum used to clean for a famous pop star” because that turns into pages of tiresome questions and “Oh go on tell us who it is/give us a clue/no I can’t sorry”

I want such tenuous connections that nobody will bother asking follow up questions.

I’ll start.

My dog was Mr Tumble’s dog’s mum.

Whilst living and working on the Channel Island of Herm, a good few years ago, I was over in Guernsey, on my day off, and was asked for directions to a local conference centre by Denise Nurse.
We often had 'celebrity' visitors staying on the island as it is a real get away from it all destination where they could blend in to relative obscurity away from the spotlight.

We also received a royal visit and all islanders had to line up on the harbour to greet and shake hands with Prince Edward & Sophie when they stepped off the ferry- they were charming actually and Sophie asked me where the nearest toilet was!

I was on TV in 1986 as part of the opening ceremony of the commonwealth games in Edinburgh. I was a dancer but we ran from the park to the stadium right at the start of the ceremony.

Also - and this will only make sense to those who listen to Forth One in Edinburgh and the surrounding areas - I won the Big I am a few months ago.

I attended a Christmas service at my DN's church in London several years ago. On the way home she told me there were 3 famous people in the congregation - a musician, an actress and an author. I didn't recognise any of the names and can't remember them but, apparently, I shared the peace with the author who was sat in front of me!

I sold my car to the pop star Daniel Bedingfield. It was quite a few years ago now. I wasn't there and neither was he- his agent came to see the car and met my brother.

One for the older MN’s, many years ago I served drinks to Russ Abbot in a disco he gave me a big tip. He then commandeered the DJ’s microphone to sing his hit Atmosphere and got me to join in, he was lovely and very funny.

He wasn't lovely if he was subjecting you to that song.

I once had a drink in a café where the Crankies came in and ordered soup. I'm taller than Janet Cranky, I'm not used to being taller than anyone.

My kids went to school with the kids of Dervla Kirwin and Rupert Penry Jones, Marcus Brigstocke and Gillian Anderson - amongst others. I was on the PTA with [now ex-] partner of one. They were very normal in the playground at pickup and on school fete days. DD was BFs with daughter of a film director, so often had a cuppa when collecting her from playdates while Al Pacino was face-timing/zooming them in the kitchen. All of them were, well, just ordinary folk doing ordinary things and seemed pleasant enough. Did narrowly miss colliding with Gillian’s monster range rover in the car park, though. She was ignoring the one way system…
