Do people actually like it or force themselves to have it?

I find it disgusting but drink it like medicine. The flavoured ones aren't too horrible but still not great.

PassportPanicFuuuck · 10/01/2026 14:21

I like it, but I don't like other fermented things like kombucha or kimchi (why do they all begin with K?).

IceStationZebra · 10/01/2026 14:22

I like it, it tastes like plain yoghurt to me. The flavoured ones are lovely too.

FartyAnimal · 10/01/2026 14:23

I like it!

Catza · 10/01/2026 14:27

I hated it as a kid but love it now. I find the taste quite creamy and since developing lactose intolerance about 10 years ago it hits the spot for dairy craving without any unpleasant side-effects.

Justputsomeyoghurtonit · 10/01/2026 14:27

It's delicuous. I add a tablespoon to my Greek yoghurt each day. I like to eat it at room temperature.

Never had the drink though. I only eat natural kefir, not with sweeteners or sugar and flavourings.

I have my Greek yog/kefir with fllax seed, hemp, some oats and chia and then banana and blueberries mixed in. Sometimes also add extract of vanilla and dessicated coconut.

JDM625 · 10/01/2026 14:29

The only one I don't mind is the Biotiful one. The flavoured versions are very high in sugar, so I just get the plain one. I only have about 1/2 cup as read you should start with a small amount and build up. I did try several brands, and some of the others were very fizzy- like drinking rancid milk 🤢

Love kombucha, but I bought Kimchi and have managed two pieces and it was like eating cow poo. So I reckon I'm OK with my kefir and kombucha 😂

Crikeyalmighty · 10/01/2026 14:29

I only like my yoghurt Greek, thick and creamy - like Fage 5% - I thought kefir was revolting, but then I don’t like sauerkraut or kimchi either

Jugendstiel · 10/01/2026 14:30

I've had a couple of commercial brand fruit ones and it tasted very like yoghurt to me. I was expecting it to be disgisting.

Kimchi on the other hand. Ew. I love pickles, I love sour tastes, I love chilli. It should be fine. I wanted to run from the room and throw up when I oipened it. The house reeked of it for weeks, after I'd done nothing more than open the jar and close it again.

UnaOfStormhold · 10/01/2026 14:35

Yeo valley yoghurt style is delicious, just a bit tangier than normal yoghurt. But I quite like the drinking ones too.

I love kombucha too, I make my own as the bought stuff is exorbitant and tastes too sweet for my taste.

LaurieFairyCake · 10/01/2026 14:39

It’s horrendous, I still force myself to drink it

Id better live to 200 fucking years old

ThatWasMyLastFatFreeFrush · 10/01/2026 14:41

I love it.

ThatWasMyLastFatFreeFrush · 10/01/2026 14:42

Ooh I also love kimchi. I had a kimchi and hummus sandwich for lunch.

Pabbel · 10/01/2026 14:45

Yuk🤮

curiouscat1987 · 10/01/2026 14:54

I love kefir, it just tastes like natural yogurt. But looking at the responses on this thread i wonder if maybe some people have a genetic variant that makes it taste different, like how for some people fresh coriander tastes soapy?

oocooloo · 10/01/2026 15:06

I don't understand the willingness of some to force a product they don't like much down their necks just because x y and z.

If one is that worried about the gut, take a probiotic capsule. Tasteless.

I like kimchi but not kombucha, I like kefir too.

dizzydizzydizzy · 10/01/2026 15:12

I use it to make chia seed pudding which I absolutely love.

I like plain yogurt as well. It tastes much the same as plain yogurt but it often much more liquid. That is of course if you buy the plain one. I do have some vanilla kefir on my fridge which I am looking forward to trying.

I also got some Yeo Valley rhubarb kefir which was pretty much the same as yogurt.

paddleboardingmum · 10/01/2026 15:22

Two thirds said YABU so more who like it than don't. I'm giving up on it. Might try kombucha but I can tell I wouldn't like kimchi, that even looks horrible.

How about sourdough bread or miso paste? I often use miso paste instead of a stock cube.

Xiaoxiong · 10/01/2026 15:34

I like the plain Yeo Valley kefir mixed with chia seeds and inulin for breakfast topped with berries, nuts and seeds. It’s quite sour but that offsets the sweetness of the berries perfectly for me. I love all ferments though, like kimchi and pickles.

Branleuse · 10/01/2026 15:34

The flavoured ones are OK.

Brooklyn70 · 10/01/2026 15:36

i used to blend it with some strawberries and drink it without breathing…

HeadyLamarr · 10/01/2026 15:40

I thought I'd lik it but I found it utterly revolting!
