Young girls, un-consenting women and now this

@eliothiggins.bsky.social‬
Just seen Grok putting the body of the victim of the ICE shooting in Minneapolis into a bikini. Digital corpse desecration now available to the public.

I don’t use X but it is insane that women are being told not to use a platform because men create pornography on it rather than men being told not to create pornography 🤷🏻‍♀️

Yep. As bloody ever having a go at women on mumsnet is easy pickings.

Oh bore off. The last thing we need is more censorship. I am on Twitter/X and I think it's great and it is the only place I see reporting certain news which I'd otherwise have no idea about, which is completely absent from places like drippy Bluesky (milquetoast echo-chamber which censors any view that is not left/liberal). I think censorship is much more dangerous a tool than Grok. I don't want Starmer or anyone else telling me what information I can and can't access. And as another poster has said, this isn't really about Grok, it's about trying to shut-down Twitter/X because it is owned by someone the left doesn't approve of - Musk. There's just as much disgusting and misogynistic, dangerous stuff on places like BlueSky and Reddit but no calls to ban them or to shame people who use them because they are seen as holding the correct and acceptable views.

Sums it up for me.
I don't want to hear just one opinion. I like it for news, gender critical stuff and mainly for the funny people. I've never seen nudes or porn on there unlike another more "acceptable" site where my eyes have never recovered from what I saw. You really have to click on the wrong things to get stuff like that on X.

I think they tweaked the algorithm recently and it's much easier to direct your interests. Click on fluffy bunnies and your timeline will be filled with them. Click on Iran and you'll get views and opinions on what's afoot that you wouldn't easily find elsewhere. I did make the mistake of clicking on a trad wife post and had a couple of weeks of the smuggest McSmugfaced parenting posts I've ever seen.

So yes, grok is a bad thing but I'm staying.

Well the solution to the Yorkshire Ripper was police advice that women (not men) should stay at home.

XDownwiththissortofthingX · 09/01/2026 17:24

Liz Kendall chuntering about the Online Safety Act, as if an utterly pointless piece of legislation rendered moot by two extra mouse clicks is going to make the blindest bit of difference. 😂

TooBigForMyBoots · 09/01/2026 17:33

It made a difference to Pornhub. They removed loads of images and UK traffick to the site is well down.

Just because something is difficult, it shouldnt mean we don't bother. Also, its not just UK lefties that are tackling this. It's international and backed by people across the political spectrum.

Pornhub reported a drop of 70% in traffic from the UK.

All this actually suggests is that only 30% of UK visitors bothered to go through the Age Check rigmarole, 70% chose to use a VPN.

If you think this ineffectual rubbish actually hindered anyone accessing the supposedly "blocked" sites, you are extremely naive.

Yes. Always the way. Women expected to change their behaviour, not men.

So why argue for similar here?

Because it generates clicks ?

Given the only way we could protect ourselves from being pornified before we get off the bus is to wear full body and face coverings, I'm glad our government is doing the right thing right now.

Brefugee · 09/01/2026 18:55

TooBigForMyBoots · 09/01/2026 17:15

No one has painted you a porn addled fuckwit. You are taking criticism of Musk's porn programme and his progression to pornographer very personally.

We know men are the problem. We need not add fuel to the raging fire that is misogyny on the internet. Grok's sexualisation programming needs to go. And sexualised images of unsuspecting women and children should be removed when asked. Not used to generate income.

Edited

no but the constant "you're ok with pornography" is utter bullshit.

It’s probably too soon to say but downloads of VPNs may have increased instead. Are all sites complying with the law? Has the government gone after any foreign sites flouting the requirement?

Removal of images is obviously a good thing but there’s a million other places to get porn so I’m hoping that it’s not just one site.

Talkinpeace · 09/01/2026 19:51

At the moment on Xtwitter I am following

  • Iran
  • the EHRC
  • Minnesota
  • women's rights
  • Sudan
  • Venezuela
  • Devolution in England
I know of no better site to watch them all at once

They were sending legal threats to 4chan, who understandably replied stating that as they are not a UK based entity, the UK government has no jurisdiction over them and therefore they would be ignoring the UK government's threats.

They also took the opportunity to suggest that if the UK government persisted, they would be instructing their own lawyers to start action against the UK government for harassment.

You could be forgiven for suggesting this was entirely foreseeable, but apparently things like facts and reality are not considerations when it comes to politicians attempting to wield the ban-hammer on the bad old interweb.

Why reply then

I felt like it. Why did you quote me? Because you wanted to.

TooBigForMyBoots · 09/01/2026 21:18

Do any active users know if there's a campaign on X to remove the porn programme from Grok?

bombastix · 09/01/2026 21:59

It seems that what happens on Grok is then taken to the dark web and turned into CSAM. Pretty grim.

Facebook and Instagram and Bluesky and Reddit and all the other sites neve did.

You are so right, porn creators always use the bikini shots on Xtwitter rather than going straight to the dark web

or at least they did until a few weeks ago when Grok got image rights

SerendipityJane · 10/01/2026 09:56

Seems Lord Musk will now push the narrative that nasty little women whinging about fair use porn are really secret agents of the Starmer State who are dedicated to erasing (his) free speech by banning X. Aided and abetted by the usual suspects.

Anyone care to disagree ?

Brefugee · 10/01/2026 11:35

Geoblocking is a thing. Turkey, China and Russia do it very effectively, so the UK and other countries could join in.

Yes, VPNs are a thing but the really good ones are expensive, and as the BBC shows very effectively, if you have a team of devs working on it, you can usually stop VPN access quickly.

The will needs to be there (and VPNs need to stay because not all use of VPNs is nefarious)

So how do you tell between "nefarious" VPNs and fluffy bunny wabbit VPNs ?

Isn't grok ai and are people doing it ? As in are you saying OP grok has done this without being asked by someone to do this? Wouldn't a person have had to ask grok to do what you are saying ? If so it isn't grok that is the problem. It is people.

Yes it’s people (let’s face it, men). But apparently the answer to the problem is that women change their behaviour by boycotting X.
