To wonder what US Trump voters think now

Their country's reputation trashed. The man they voted for heavily implicated in the Epstein scandal. Contempt shown to them abroad.
About to completely shift Ukraine. Enabling Netanyahu to commit mass murder of children with their tax dollars. No roaring economy. The environment fucked probbaky beyond saving due to their inaction.
What, in all honesty, do the 75 million who have caused this catastrophe think?

Venezuelans are ecstatic
Oil. Im sorry Russia and China were there for 1 reason only
Its about preserving the dollar and bolstering the US economy.
It was incredible what the US military did. He was in a fortress .one of the most protected men in latin america if not the world. It waw unbelievably audacious and " took out a vicious dictator '
Trump is unpredictable for sure. Unscripted. Accessible to the public as talks ad hoc to the media
He is reassuringly ad hoc. No scripts ( air force 1 )
What a change.
I know one thing the ioc would still have men in womens sports only for him pushing this sea change. I bet Aberdeen and the laid off workers of the North Sea are praying for change in strategy here.
The world narrative is changing because of him. Gender reassignment of kids etc etc which He is totally against. Climate emergency etc etc etc.
Trump has brought a lot of good to the entire world and what it us is common sense as opposed to the emporers new clothes from Biden et al

Well we agree about the oil....
The irony of you mentioning mentioning in women's sports. I happen to agree over the issue but it is just so irrelevant in the greater scheme of things and the utter devastating mess they've caused. Then you mention climate change, being the most important issue. My word you really are brainwashed

Brits should really be more concerned what's happening to the UK. It's what's happening in Europe and the UK, is why I support Trump.

BTW; the BBC has been telling a lot fibs.

Care to give more detail? Uk has some issues ( mini trump farage being one of them) but I suspect you believe all the bs about knife crime, sharia law etc. You should improve your news sources

Oh please do illuminate us on how we reverse our parlous slide and open our hearts and minds to entry-level decency?

@SuperbMum1 Also some may think Kamala Harris is a very capable woman, but can you honestly picture her negotiating on the telephone with Putin?

Well she's not going to cave in to Putin's every demand, is she? Witkoff didn't even bring an interpreter along, he relied on the one provided by the Kremlin.

It's so interesting how some people seem to believe that a charlatan who had a fictional tv persona created four him while declaring bankruptcy six times (including the near impossible feat of bankrupting a casino), who inherited money and accomplished almost nothing with it until he became president through a glitch (electoral college) and turned it into the biggest grift going and who is actively furthering his own business interests is going to be a better negotiator than a black woman from a single parent family who managed to become a DA, the attorney general of one of the largest states in the country, a senator and then VP. I do wonder why that might be?

Starmer having no jury trials...... very fair as per our Keir

You're deliberately misleading here. Or you've just got it wrong. Juries will continue in most cases.

They voted for Trump because it's what Putin wanted and they're too thick to realise they've been played.

Some have, floating voters have, as well as minorities, but I think it may be too late now. America is being destroyed.

Trump informed the oil companies about VZ before Congress and NATO

RingoJuice · 05/01/2026 11:25

Haven’t rtft but I’m very happy with my vote.

Over 2 million illegals have gone home. Gas is much cheaper. Food prices are somewhat cheaper (according to my family anyway) Immigration from some of the worst countries on the planet has been halted. Crime is down (lefties changing course have been the root of some of this, not just the new admin).

I guess I think he’s not gone far enough in some aspects—I want a complete ban on H1B labor (this is a category of temp workers) and to defund the refugee NGOs. No public funds or public schooling for children of illegals. Get rid of federal judges. Much remains to be seen.

ThatCyanCat · 05/01/2026 11:26

Surely nobody, however pro Trump they might be for whatever reason, thinks it's about anything but oil?

DdraigGoch · 05/01/2026 11:31

GeneralPeter · 05/01/2026 06:10

Your list is unlikely to be one they recognise as either true or as the most important things.

Possible exception of the economy (but remember the US markets are going great and the US has much higher rates of share ownership than we do), and Epstein amongst a portion (but how many really chose their vote on that issue).

This feels like a mirror of those US right wingers who think the UK must be on the brink of civil war becuase London is a shithole, Muslims are taking over the country, and people get arrested for posting on X. People who voted for Starmer are highly unlikely to either agree with the premises or see these as the defining questions. Asking “what do Starmer voters think now” just misses the mark.

Edited

The US markets aren't doing great. There is a small handful of tech companies whose value has risen dramatically due to AI speculation, the rest of the stock market is limping along. The AI bubble is likely to burst at some point, just as the DotCom bubble did.

Oil companies have been burned before, having assets seized in third countries - including in Venezuela.

I don’t think any of them are champing at the bit to put themselves at risk of this happening again.

S&P 500 is up 17% during 2025, third consecutive year of double-digit growth. I agree it's highly AI-driven and we might see a correction. But 40% of US stock investment is in broad index funds so that's a lot of people getting richer.

(Sure, the stock market isn't the only measure of an economy. My main point was that OP's list of the US's failings isn't going to be universally shared, least of all by Trump supporters).

Their shares are up today so that will be worth it.

CharlotteCChapel · 05/01/2026 11:55

I warch a few US politics podcasts and YouTube channels and a lot think that Trump should go. However there do seem to be a largish number who believe that Venezuela stole their oil. How the hell did they do that?

Isn't the main claim about 2007 expropration of US oil investments. Venezuela has ignored the international tribunal rulings and not paid the $10bn++ restitution.

A pretty Trumpian move. Chavez and Maduro aren't fluffy progressive international-law-abiding types any more than he is.

JHound · 05/01/2026 12:15

One thing I will give Trump is he is brilliant at building a cult.

There is not one thing Trump could do that would turn MAGAts off him.
Will maybe if he gave black Americans reparations. But seriously I think his voters and supporters will not care. They will support everything he does. Even if he illegally seized a third term his supporters will defend it.
