www.microsoft.com/virtualearth/

like google earth except far mor detailed.
you don't have to download anything just run it from that link.
it's cool for looking up monumens but i have just scoped out my house and the detail too much. apart from showing my car in it, the areal photo is just far too detailed.
pretty much provides a "how to burgle my house" now all a local srote with an internet access hs to do is type in my adress to find the best access points

cool, I have just discovered that my garden is about twice the size of everybody else on the streets.

2point4kids · 12/06/2008 08:18

cant see much of my house, just the roof at a slight angle!

Buda · 12/06/2008 08:29

I can see a map of our area but no photo - am I doing it wrong? What do I do?

SaintGeorge · 12/06/2008 09:57

Both are very out of date.

Google seems to be at least 5 years old (in our area at least).

Virtual Earth seems to be about 4 yrs on the aerial shots and 6 on the birds eye views.

Threadwormm · 12/06/2008 10:01

You can see our fishpond. How I know how that bastard cormorant stole our fish.

Microsoft isn't that old more than 2 months old though. I can see my new build house that I just moved into but the other half of the estate is still a building site on the map, also can see my car parked outside my old house.

misdee · 12/06/2008 22:59

that is a lot more upto date for may area than google maps. i can see everything in my garden. including i think, my 3 dd's

BibiThree · 12/06/2008 23:02

Google earth is at least 5 years out of date, it shows the previous owner's cars in the driveway

wll check out microsoft now...

smartiejake · 12/06/2008 23:04

google earth is not out of date for my house. I had an extension finished in january and it's on there with the tree in our garden in full leaf so it's an image from the past 6 weeks or so.

WriggleJiggle · 12/06/2008 23:05

Google earth can't be that old around here. We've only lived here 18 months and I can see all of the dc's toys in the garden!

endymion · 12/06/2008 23:06

It's really funny, but the bird's eye pic of my house was pre extension from the back, post extension from the rear. Satellite pre extension too.

FAQ · 12/06/2008 23:08

Definitely very old - just had a look at my house, and the the coverings they put outside the reception classrooms at the school aren't there.

Oh and just realise that the play area in the park isn't there either or the skateboard bit, or the tarmac paths - and they were there when we moved to this town 6yrs ago!

barnstaple · 12/06/2008 23:08

The pic of our house is from nearly a year ago - the garden is completely different now. I can't zoom in as far as I can with google earth.

I think I got it, but our garden is like it was before we moved in so the image I'm seeing is over 5 years old.

how do we do it????

LynetteScavo · 12/06/2008 23:14

All I could get was a very out of date picture. They have since built a house opposite ours.

SparklyGothKat · 12/06/2008 23:14

where do I put my postcode?
