I got 2 perfumes I’d been after but wouldn’t have spent that much myself but my favourite present was off DS2 (18) girlfriend. She got me a fictional cold case file to solve. It comes with cctv stills, crime scene photos, witness statements etc. You have to be detective and work out who the murderer is! I think it’s one of the best things I’ve ever been bought!

I loved the three different hats my partner bought me

Sony earbuds. A really good pair
From one of my closest male friends who I am in love with totally.

However we never seem to have the right conversation about what we are doing with our relationship!

His very thoughtful and extravagant gift meant loads - he came for Christmas and we had a great time. Which was also a lovely present in itself

I’m all for a budding romance - no pun intended. Please send updates!

I got a murder to solve as well. I saw it in the garden centre and thought it looked good so DH bought it for me.
We solved it over 2 days and it was really good fun. Really got you looking, reading everything and talking. The one I had did have further information accessed online and came with hints if you needed them.
Would definitely recommend.

A scarf. Not silk, probably not that expensive, but it has robins on it, and I lost a dear cousin called Robin a few years ago. Made me think of him.

A matching bracelet to my favourite necklace- unexpected and thoughtful

My Shark Cryoglow LED face mask. I’ve wanted one forever and have been diligently using it every day since I opened it on Christmas Day. I love it!

Same but Current Body one

An autistic student of mine is a very talented artist. He gave me a picture he did of me and him. It showed me and him sitting at a desk.
Another student gave me a book from her home country Ukraine. Even though I cannot read it, I was so touched that she gave it to me. Both presents are in my home office.

I have such lovely students. The presents are simple but I am so blessed to have been given them.

I had some lovely gifts, but I think my favourite was from my DSC. They got me a ninja blast and it makes amazing smoothies. I've been on a bit of a health kick since September and I'm eating (drinking) a lot of fruit! It's been used every day!

@Sloelydoesit maybe 2026 can be the year you have that conversation. A great gift giver is a lovely thing 💝

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 11/01/2026 08:53

My lot are fabulous gift givers, not a duff present on the day. But the best ones are the not-expensive things that showed they were listening to me - one gave me some photos (properly printed) of a day out we'd all been on and another gave me a picture that I'd seen and admired in a local shop and then forgotten all about.

Those were illustrations of it really IS the thought that counts.

Could you share the name of the cold case game? My friend and his wife will be having a baby soon. They are both into puzzles/challenges and this sounds like a great activity for the inevitable increase in evenings spent at home.

I got some lovely gifts. A beautiful pair of earrings. Hagrid's umbrella (quite random but I love it - and it works!). A voucher for a restaurant we haven't tried yet that is supposed to be fantastic.

Lego!

Mine was Lego too! DH got me a Lego Star Trek: The Next Generation shuttlecraft and I love it because I am pathologically nerdy 🤓

My dd has took up knitting this year as a hobby and to wind down with. My gran was a great knitter and I’d told dd about a beautiful blanket she had made for me when I was young. How I’d used this blanket in all my babies prams including hers and I was so upset when it was lost in a house move when dd was a toddler.

this blanket used to hang over the back of our sofa to hide a little rip lol and it’s partly showing in an old photo I have.

Christmas Day I opened a present from dd which was a blanket that she had knitted using what she could see on that photo!. It’s almost identical and it’s beautiful. I’m blessed with thoughtful loved ones

I have two favourites.
Our oldest son bought us tickets to see Richard Ashcroft in April.
Our youngest bought me a book which is made up of news articles about Oasis, from the start of their career up until the reunion tour.

Squirrelchops1 · 11/01/2026 11:40

A box of Nordic socks from MIL. In this cold weather my feet have never been so cosy

Peridot1 · 11/01/2026 11:41

@bloomchamp - how lovely!

Some lovely gifts here. And as a few have said it’s the thoughtful ones that really count.

My favourite was Lego - DH got me the Home Alone house. I’ve been looking at it off and on for a few years but it’s expensive so I kept saying no. It’s being retired this year so he decided it was now or never.

ShortColdandGrey · 11/01/2026 11:54

My new cosy dressing gown and my Lego set that I wasn't expecting.

Konstantine8364 · 11/01/2026 11:57

A red wine decanter! Ive wanted one for ages, my lovely friend bought me a gorgeous one without being asked and I love it! I feel like a real adult when Ive used it 🤣

My heated blanket/throw. The best thing ever

JemOfAWoman · 11/01/2026 12:23
