We’re having a quiet one, which is how we like it. We’ve ordered a Wingstop and will watch a favourite film.

We’ll also go out for a walk at midnight to watch the fireworks.

What about you?

Really don’t like NYE. Usually we go to the cinema but we couldn’t agree on a single film we all fancied this year

jusf had a nice family meal and about to play monopoly with dh, and 2 ds (12 and 10). I have no intention of staying up till 12. I’ll be running at parkrun at 9am tomorrow

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 31/12/2025 19:43

Right now I’m trying to get my 1yo to sleep. Meant to be doing a murder mystery with my family this evening and ordering in a curry but I haven’t even managed to get changed yet.

DarkEyedSailor · 31/12/2025 18:21

I'm in bed with a vomiting bug.

Hope you feel better soon 🌷

PeonyPatch · 31/12/2025 19:48

I’m in my PJs at home with my husband and our 2 dogs. We just had a Chinese. I’m so happy 🤗🤗🤗

Middlemarch123 · 31/12/2025 19:53

Sorry for everyone feeling poorly, hope you feel better soon. You can always celebrate when you’re better if you want too, I never celebrate new year, but appreciate that others do. I’m watching tv and drinking wine. Dry January starts tomorrow. Fireworks have started, one cat watching them from the conservatory, one hiding under the bed, and one on my lap. Should have traveled to Wales to stay with family, but they have flu, so we’re all staying home.

Didimum · 31/12/2025 19:55

Since being pregnant (so 2017) we have always stayed in and celebrated by making a new fancy meal and having some bubbles, and watching Jools.

justaddittothelist · 31/12/2025 19:58

Currently trying to get my baby to sleep, older DC are dancing in the living room and DH is cooking steaks for dinner.

Then it will be a couple of board games, some wine and snacks and bed around half 12.

Happy new year everyone

CheeseWisely · 31/12/2025 19:59

A nicer than average dinner at home with a glass of wine, in bed long before midnight probably and hoping that toddler DS who’s been feverish and lethargic today has a good nights sleep. Dismayed to find that the Taskmaster New Years treat isn’t actually on until the 2nd!

Jibbee · 31/12/2025 19:59

DH working, my DC are out had a lovely walk with my dog, in my dressing gown, eating chocolate. Have just the tree lights and candles on so really cozy

Roselily123 · 31/12/2025 20:07

Been working so now I’m pjs with Dh, waiting for the Chinese to arrive.
Happy New Year everyone!

Cat1504 · 31/12/2025 20:12

Sat in back lounge with DP and dog….in front of log burner with loads of candles going …..been the pub with friends earlier but home now as was getting loud and too busy for me! …..had a beer but only one as going out with GC tomorrow…..will put our coats on at midnight and go out and watch the fireworks….just had a normal tea ( pasta dish) …..just finished messaging friends

Coldtoesinthebed · 31/12/2025 20:12

Aw I forgot about call the midwife, what a shout! I will be watching that while trying to convince the dog that the fireworks are highly unlikely to come into the house and attack her 😂

MerelyPlaying · 31/12/2025 20:15

Got flu and feeling dreadful, had to cancel plans to visit friends. Can’t taste anything, don’t fancy alcohol or even chocolate. I’m not bothered about New Year celebrations but disappointed not to see my friends.
Heading for bed shortly and hope I can stop coughing long enough to sleep. I’m envious of all the people having nice family evenings in. Just me and the cats, who will doubtless wake me up at midnight to complain about fireworks.

Imaginary86 · 31/12/2025 20:17

Currently watching Matilda with the kids but once they’re in bed I’ll be chilling out and listening to the fireworks. Feeling off today as my mums partner is seriously unwell and they are in hospital now. Not a very nice end to the year 😔

Hesma · 31/12/2025 20:20

Chilling with a glass of Prosecco and my cat. Alternating between watching to and reading. Kids with dad for NYE so enjoying some much needed me time.

mrstjones · 31/12/2025 20:43

I've just got into bed, I'm at work tomorrow and going to start the year as I mean to go on and do some planning for the next month or so and look at some personal development stuff too. I've never really liked staying up late to celebrate, I'd rather do it in peace with a cup of tea in the morning Grin

JBJ · 31/12/2025 20:46

I made us a homemade chicken kebab for dinner (I’ve got gallstones so can’t order takeaway at the minute!) and DS and I are going to watch Stranger Things.

TrentCrimmsflowinglocks · 31/12/2025 20:48

Had a friend and her young kids around for an early doors celebration. They’ve just left and now it’s just us, a bottle of wine and some big bags of crisps.

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 31/12/2025 20:51

I’m already struggling to stay awake!

Mumofsoontobe3 · 31/12/2025 20:55

Working. 😩
Happy new year all!

HopSpringsEternal · 31/12/2025 21:13

Meant to be at a party but a very poorly dog has meant most likely a night in :(

ANiceCuppaTeaandBiscuit · 31/12/2025 21:19

We celebrated ‘midnight’ with the kids so did the UAE countdown and fireworks on TV at 8pm. Have had ‘midnight’ drinks and snacks and will be asleep myself by 10 - just the way I like it!

Procrastinatrixx · 31/12/2025 21:22

Poor DS3 has chicken pox, and DD0.5 is teething, so a quiet night in with DH, but expecting to be up hourly. Luckily we have lots of Christmas food left to fuel us…

Londonrach1 · 31/12/2025 21:27

sprigatito · 31/12/2025 19:01

Lying on a three-seater sofa all to myself with a hot water bottle and a wheat bag on my sore knee (post-surgery), eating lasagne with garlic bread and buttered green veg, drinking hot chocolate with chocolate liqueur, watching old Poirot and Marple while watching DH do the jigsaw he got for Christmas. Dad dozing off into his Guinness, adult dc out with friends. Utter bliss. I loathe NYE as a rule, but I’m enjoying this one.

Apart from the knee and the pain your nye sounds perfect... lasagna and miss marple , take it joan hickson and poirot, David suchet. Hope your knee is better soon

Doteycat · 31/12/2025 22:02

BringBackCatsEyes · 31/12/2025 19:04

DS1 gone to party in London. DS2 just been invited to party with mates. So I may watch both Call the Midwife episodes. The peace is very welcome. Normally we have a large family thing, but the kids are all getting older and traditions are evolving.

Where is call the midwife available?
