Labour Voters. Honest question

I’m not looking to start an argument on this subject. I know it’s a very heated and emotive topic.

I have strong views on political issues. What with algorithms and biased news organisations, it’s very easy to end up only seeing information that confirms what we already believe. Because of that, you don’t often hear the other side of the political divide.

I’m honestly curious whether those who voted Labour at the last General Election, for reference I did not, would vote the same way if there were an early GE in January, purely hypothetical of course.

If so, I’d really appreciate you sharing what you feel they’ve done right so far in their term. I’m asking as I genuinely want to understand different perspectives.

YABU - I would vote labour again
YANBU - I wouldn’t vote for them again (or ever have)

They are up against right wing press so the good news doesn't get out , you so have to look for it they are not as left wing as I would like but they are making good changes and getting the job done. I like having a steady hand rather than a "showman" for a pm . So far (and there are more ..
1000 more GPs
Shortened NHS waiting lists
Ended train strike
Increased minimum wage
Renationalising railways
Banned no fault eviction and gave renters rights
Planning reform
Guaranteed homes for veterans/ Care leavers & domestic abuse survivors
Introduced legislation to smash the people smugglers
6500 more teachers
30 hours free childcare
450,000 kids out of poverty
Introduced breakfast clubs
Largest pay award ever for the armed forces

Ended train strikes by giving them massive pay increases.
Minimum wage increase has had unintended consequences. Firms can't afford to employ young people.
They have shortened nhs waiting lists by taking people off the list that have languished there for ages.
The renters rights means landlords will stop letting their properties so they'll be a shortage so rents will inevitably go up.

This is closer to how the majority feel than the glowing posts.

Absolutely right. Endorse everything stated here.

Voted for them for the first time last GE and I would do so again. They represent me better then the other parties.

I don't think they have been given a fair shot by the press.

I just always feel like I'm waiting for the next tax rogering with Labour. I honestly think they'd tax children and pets if they could find a way!

Which particular tax has risen for you personally?

The concept of waiting for something usually implies it hasn't happened yet.

I found the 'working people' rhetoric highly disingenuous for starters . "Oh yeah, we did say we wouldn't tax working people didn't we? However, we've since decided that people who earn over £45k aren't working people". 😉

GaIadriel · 27/05/2026 22:59

And it just seems that people in my sector (construction) have started using cash more to avoid the increased levy on businesses.

BIossomtoes · 27/05/2026 23:18

The concept of “next” usually implies something has happened before.

Its doesn't have to be a 'particular tax' though, does it - their policies have been catastrophic for jobs, particularly for young people, general job insecurity limits opportunity, small businesses stall, employers don't invest in new staff or expansion
