I found a pregnancy test in my DSs gfs flat

My DS is 28, he has been with his girlfriend for a bit over a year. They are away to her family abroad, they asked if I would mind checking in on her flat. I went today as I was in the area for a hair appointment. Collected up parcels left by the door or at neighbours, checked all was well then nipped into the bathroom. In the bathroom when I was washing my hands I realised there was a pregnancy test, positive left by the sink.
The thing is we met up with them before their flight (but after they left home for the airport) and his girlfriend was drinking.

I don’t know what to make of this, surely they’d have known I was going to be there and possibly using the bathroom.

Im tempted to message my son and let him know I’ve seen it? But then what if she has decided to terminate, or it’s from a friend who was over or some other personal reason that’s nothing to do with me?

Do I just mind my business? Or would it be okay for me to mention it.

Stay out of it. Completely. If they have anything to tell you, they'll do so when they're ready.

rubyslippers · 29/12/2025 15:44

Do not breathe a word

CaptainMyCaptain · 29/12/2025 15:44

If they want you to know they'll tell you.

ThisWaryCrow · 29/12/2025 15:45

Mind your business.

Coffeeishot · 29/12/2025 15:45

Just say nothing, if they have anything to tell you they will.

SweeetFannyAdams · 29/12/2025 15:45

Of course you mind your own business.

I'm surprised you need to ask.

DramaAlpaca · 29/12/2025 15:45

Say nothing.

Highlandgal · 29/12/2025 15:45

Stay out of it. If they want you to know

Fargo79 · 29/12/2025 15:46

Come on. You cannot seriously need other people to tell you the right thing to do here!

Comedycook · 29/12/2025 15:46

Don't say a word...by the way I've heard that negative pregnancy tests can eventually turn positive, buts its then a false reading as it's just that it's been left a long time...or am I imagining that? I'm sure I read that somewhere? Apologies if I'm wrong.

Anyway...they're adults, mind your own business

Dulcie6 · 29/12/2025 15:46

I wouldn’t say anything. There’s a chance she’s having a termination if she was drinking.

I was going to say that. That's why you have to look at them within the specified time frame.

Either way, it's none of your business, so forget about it.

And as to why it was left out - people often leave things out by accident when they're rushing to get somewhere. I wouldn't take this as a sign they want you go know.

Endofyear · 29/12/2025 15:49

Say nothing - they'll tell you if they want to but otherwise it's their business.

HollyhockDays · 29/12/2025 15:51

Could be a friends. Could be having a termination. None of your business.

For gods sake it's none of your business.
Dont you want to fall.out become estranged because you will if you meddle. You certainly wont be trusted anymore to have a key why break that.
Im amazed that people have to ask others and dont know to mind their own business and realise the dangers and pitfalls of interfering themselves.

waterrat · 29/12/2025 15:57

oh my gosh op this is a big fat none of your business.

put it out of your mind

Flickaflock · 29/12/2025 15:59

Say nothing. If it is theirs, and they decide to keep it, you’ll be told in a few months’ time anyway. If it’s not theirs and/or they’ve decided to get rid of it, it’s none of your business.

AlwaysTheRenegade · 29/12/2025 16:00

It's natural you want to know what the test means OP, but I agree, don't say anything. It sounds like you have a good relationship if they trust you with her key.
Seems unlikely it would be a friends though.
Did you buy her drink or did she/ your ds? Could have been alcohol free?

toomuchfaff · 29/12/2025 16:01

Dont be so bloody stupid. Dont say a word. Its the poison chalice, say nothing about it, it never happened, it didnt happen until you're told it happened.

For all you know, an amazon delivery driver could have stopped to use the toilet (unlikely, I know - but think ridiculous).

Its absolutely sod all to do with you.

BillieWiper · 29/12/2025 16:02

It's none of your business. She might not want the kid or even for anyone to know. It might not be hers. Either way do not say or do anything.

You're in someone's house. They trusted you. Snooping around looking at medical devices then spreading rumours about it is absolutely unacceptable.

Shitmonger · 29/12/2025 16:04

I’m pretty sure many tests turn positive if left for too long and that’s why you have to read it within a certain timeframe. I’m guessing it was negative and that’s why she was drinking.

TheOneWithTheGoat · 29/12/2025 16:04

Could literally be anything:

A friends. An evap line. Could be having a termination. Could have recently had a miscarriage (I tested positive for 6 weeks after mine even though I was only 8 weeks). Could have been drinking none alcoholic drinks discreetly. Could be an ovulation test as some do look very much like pregnancy tests.

I would stay well out of it.

BonnieWeeLass99 · 29/12/2025 16:04

Say nothing!!! Separately could it be an ovulation test?

Wisperley · 29/12/2025 16:07

Might not be a pregnancy test. If it is, and it's been left out, it will have dried out and looks positive when it's not

Either way, it's not your business.

WallaceinAnderland · 29/12/2025 16:07

Good grief, I can't believe you would even consider speaking to him about it. None of your business. Jeez
