2 soap and glory gift sets. My skin is sensitive, so I can’t use anything like that.
Baylis and Harding hand set - same deal.
A candle - never use them.
Pink gin - don’t like and never drink it.

It’s always the same people, no thought put into it. I think they just grab random bits from the 3 for 2 at Boots. I’d never say anything, of course, but it’s the same stuff every year and it gets a bit disappointing as I always make an effort to buy gifts that people actually enjoy or will use. Honestly, I’d prefer if they just saved their money.

What has everyone else had?

Just a flavoured gin that will sit there until one of the DC wants a bottle to take to a party! Why do people think people who like the occasional G&T think those people want some sweet Rhubarb and Raspberries or whatever concoction?

My Dh got 3 flavoured vodkas that he will never drink, we re gifted 1 from last year,

Coffeeishot · 26/12/2025 08:13

I have chocolates that i don't like, I can't even charity shop those,

Rosti1981 · 26/12/2025 08:13

I love all my gifts this year though I may regift the Pukka herbal teas. I like them but don't drink them very often, and still have some from last year- it's a nice gift as I do use and enjoy them, just very slowly!

Newsenmum · 26/12/2025 08:14

I understand you are unable to use these so feel for you.

But I would love these! Can stock up my bathroom cupboards with nice things to wash with and I always want new socks!

Cel77 · 26/12/2025 08:14

I love a paper diary!

An ornament shaped like a bird and some fake flowers (from different people). I hate fake flowers!

Fake flowers is an odd one!

Everything from family was perfect. We keep things minimal and our DC are very thoughtful gift givers. We long ago stopped presents with wider family or friends.

I have two boxes of chocolates and a tin of biscuits ready to go to the food bank. They are from clients who have no idea that I am vegan as I have no reason to tell them. I am very grateful and they can easily be passed on. DH consumes some of my gifts but there is a limit.

SendTheNextOneIn · 26/12/2025 08:21

A very ugly set of four or five LED ‘flame less’ candles from the in-laws, plus enough AA batteries to power them into the next decade. I’ll keep the batteries though 🤣

VintageKnittingPattern · 26/12/2025 08:28

A glittery scarf with bees on it - not my thing at all.

As a charity shop volunteer - please no food. Many are not allowed to sell food, even if packaged. Stick it in a food bank donation place instead. Same with alcohol - you need a licence.

malificent7 · 26/12/2025 08:29

I got given more cheese than I can eat %and a whole Vhristmas cake. All very lovely but I watch what I eat and im on a dier come new year. Suspect dsm wants to fatten us up!

EchoedSilence · 26/12/2025 08:30

Nothing, I love any bath and shower gel sets. They go in the bathroom and all get used.

Do you think none of your oh so thoughtful gifts don't end up in the Charity shop?

I have chocolates that i don't like, I can't even charity shop those,

If they are still sealed they can go in a Food Bank drop off point.

The food bank collections will appreciate them

Thanks I will do that i wasn't sure if they would take them.

ThirdStorm · 26/12/2025 08:48

Slightly smug in saying this, nothing! I do want to ditch some mint chocolates I’ve been given as I just wouldn’t eat them but otherwise it’s all been very good.

HopSpringsEternal · 26/12/2025 08:51

Nothing! We ditched getting and giving presents to everyone years ago outside the immediate peolle we live with.

ArwenUndomniel · 26/12/2025 08:55

My brother bought me this bizarre figurine thing of a cat wearing a witch's hat and cloak. I couldn't even do a suitable "grateful" face when I opened it because I was so confused. I can't imagine anyone wanting to buy it even for a couple of quid, so that'll go in a drawer rather than the charity shop, but I will be donating a polyester scarf that I have no use for. I have loads of scarves already, none of which I've bought for myself because I have a friend who's seemingly obsessed with them and gets me one pretty much every year

malificent7 · 26/12/2025 09:10

Sorry for dreadful typos...hopefully you can all decode my mess!

Chiaseedling · 26/12/2025 09:15

3 lots of cheap ‘smellies’ - TK Maxx dross. I wouldnt Even regift.

PhilosophicalCheeseSandwich · 26/12/2025 09:16

Do you think none of your oh so thoughtful gifts don't end up in the Charity shop?

Undoubtedly. Nobody gets it right every time, I hope when I get it wrong the presents are passed on accordingly.

Chiaseedling · 26/12/2025 09:17

Also passed on some food gifts from work I/DH received to our hosts as we wouldn’t really eat them.

DarkEyedSailor · 26/12/2025 09:21

Nothing- I like them all.

PhantomOfAllKnowledge · 26/12/2025 09:25

I only got one gift - from my husband, jewellery which I liked - so nothing to donate or regift. I got some money from my lovely MIL which might get spent in a charity shop, as I love charity shopping, if that counts!

Zippidydoodah · 26/12/2025 09:27

AllStarBySmashMouth · 25/12/2025 23:14

Not the charity shop but I am going to have to fob the pack of Ferrero Rocher I got off on someone who does not have coeliac disease

Hope it wasn’t someone close to you who got you these! 💐

SterlingsGold · 26/12/2025 09:31

3 for 2 sets from Boots and random cheap make up brush set. The giver means well and I’m not ungrateful but I’d so much rather they just save their money (or got me a voucher or even even the cash ha).
