What would you do with 2k?

A gift. Not sure what to do for the best. Any ideas v v appreciated!

What are your priorities?
Do you have credit card debt or have you not had a holiday for 3 years?
or can you afford to fritter it away on a nice little YSL bag?

If I didn't need it to cover debt or household needs, I would use it for an experience - a holiday or some tickets to a show and a weekend away.

You could buy an 18ct Gold "Paperclip" Money Clip

High-end fashion houses like Prada or Tiffany & Co. occasionally release sterling silver or 18ct gold "paperclips" intended to be used as money clips. A solid gold version can easily retail for £1,500–£2,000.

It is a literal paperclip. The thing is, you are spending £2,000 on a device to hold your money, which, ironically, you no longer have because you spent it on the paperclip.

First things that come to mind

If you don't need it to repay anything, I'd personally spend it on a holiday and maybe one thing for myself, like a PS5 game!

A holiday - if everything else was in order - flights to somewhere lovely and far flung

DD - "a deposit on living somewhere else"....DH has just offered it to her. WW3 is breaking out.

DH - 3D printer, he can't think of anything else.

Me - nice bag, nice shoes.

pay for food and rent tbh but that just reflects my shitty situation…DD home from uni but have no money until next year to top up the food 🤦🏻‍♀️

My garden needs sorting or I’d get jobs done on the house.

I'd be boring and invest most of it - I'd stick it in my S&S ISA! Might keep a couple of hundred quid out for a little treat.

I need new carpets or really need some dental work and can’t get an NHS dentist. Bit boring 😁

What a wonderful gift.
I'd either save it and put it toward a bathroom renovation (not done for over 40 years in this house according to neighbours who knew previous owners), or spend it on visiting my family overseas (this summer, it'll be 5 years since I last went back).

Depends on what you have/need! My priority for next year is a car, so towards that. Otherwise a holiday.

I’d spend half and save half, unless I had any debt or no savings in which case save it all/pay off debts.

I’d buy a couple of Maine Coon kittens. I always rescue my pets but if someone were to gift me a grand or two I’d feel very tempted as I’m totally in love with the breed.

Give it to our adult kids.

I would love a holiday but realistically I need new joists, floorboards and floor covering for my dining room (old house), so that is what it would probably spent on 😏

A holiday for me on my own or two or three spa breaks on my own.
