To drink wine out of a mug?

Why do you feel the need to hide it?

Cold drinks out of a mug is my ‘nails on a blackboard’. Just the thought of it turns my stomach.

Absolutely not acceptable. Wine should only be drunk in small amounts at a time in a fine quality wine glass with very thin glass.

That was my alcoholic friend’s favourite deceit. We miss him.

It’s a hangover from when my dad was alive. He was completely against drinking, thought it was immoral.

So I’d drink lager or wine out of a mug. He never knew. He used to boast about his tee total daughter (he died when I was 44).

Just so that the kids don’t break my glass (has happened before) and so that my sister who is here doesn’t know.

I once had Prosecco from a mug during a zoom meeting (WFH) with a client who was just unbearable. It got me through the meeting.

I've been drinking mulled wine out of a mug today. It's only me drinking it so I'm warming it in the mug in the microwave and it seems daft to then decant it to a mug. Cozy!

I can recall drinking vodka and tonic from a pint measuring jug, because the host had just moved house and she couldn't find the glasses so no judgement here...😁🤣

I have a special mug I use for evening zoom meetings for boring but necessary things like charity AGM's / organisation committees I'm involved in.

If it’s shit wine, fine. If it’s good wine it’s a NO! Only fine crystal and a very thin wine glass will do. The thinnest of the thinnest crystal.

No my granny used to drink vodka out of a mug. She thought we couldn't see her drinking booze. Hiding alcohol consumption is the start of a dangerous spiral.

I thought of my alcoholic friend who hid her wine in a water bottle. So, I think it's not a good idea, but I have bad associations.

If OPs anything like my dad was, she won’t stop banging on about drinking.

Some people are so fucking sanctimonious about it, it’s best just to hide it from them.

Red or white wine. Depends on my mood. It's for things where it would feel odd to be sipping away out of a wine glass but I need something to get me through it.

Why hide it then? Its a fluorescent question as I really dont understand the need to hide it.
