Just the turkey out. Waitrose crown in tin. Instructions said remove packing except tin but just discovered a foil pad under the turkey. Is this ok to eat?

Palaminoponyclub · 25/12/2025 13:00

Ofcourse

FieldInWhichFucksAreGrownIsBarren · 25/12/2025 13:00

The turkey, yes. The foil pad, no 🤣

Kneeslikethese · 25/12/2025 13:00

It'll be fine. I'm always forgetting to remove bits of packaging off meat.

Theonlyfatmiddleagedwomannotonmonjaro · 25/12/2025 13:01

I do this all the time with chickens. Im 53 and alive. Just don't eat the pad.

ChronicallyMum · 25/12/2025 13:02

I did the same thing OP, didn’t even know it was there until I took the turkey out of the oven tray to carve it.

It’ll be absolutely fine, just bin it (the foil pad, not the turkey - eat the turkey)

Joeninety · 25/12/2025 13:05

Doesn't the metal tin clash with the microwave ? Thought you could only use ceramic plates/bowls ?

MiddleAgedDread · 25/12/2025 13:08

There’s only one way to find out……

Why do you think she cooked it in a microwave?

We do. Doesn't everyone ?

CalzoneOnLegs · 25/12/2025 13:14

@Joeninety have you been on the shots Joe ? 🥃🥃

CalzoneOnLegs · 25/12/2025 13:15

@Socrossrightnow its a bit of foil. Not plastic, same as when you cook a pastry pie or quiche in its foil dish. It’s a Non issue and dont worry

Socrossrightnow · 25/12/2025 13:18

Thanks all- hope everyone is able to have a peaceful and happy Christmas x

sesquipedalian · 25/12/2025 13:32

OP, I’ve dine this endless times with chicken. Still here to tell the tale!

Is yours a pre cooked turkey @Joeninety? Most people roast their turkey in the oven.

Combi microwaves often have metal grills in them.

After half a bottle of sherry and a couple of G&Ts I'd give the foil pad a go to be honest (especially if I hadn't had breakfast). Bit chewy and metallic, but I reckon I'd probably make it to Boxing Day.

We cooked our chicken in the air fryer. DS and I don’t like turkey, and it is ridiculous cooking that much for just two of us.

Unforgettablefire · 25/12/2025 13:39

My dog managed to get hold of the pad and he ate it!
I had to ring the vet they said contact Morrisons. So I did and they contacted their suppliers.
The pad is safe there’s nothing in it that can harm man or beast, dog was absolutely fine.
