to be upset about anti-wrinkle cream for Christmas?

EverydayHeartBreak · 25/12/2025 12:23

I know I look knackered but I didn’t really need the reminder on Christmas morning?
DP very pleased with my gift of collagen cream.
I’m 33. I really, really wanted Lego. I can’t tell if I’m being majorly ungrateful.

Did he like the weight-loss diet book you got him?

BusterGonad · 25/12/2025 12:26

Are you into skincare and beauty? If yes then he was obviously trying to get something you'd like.

Overtheatlantic · 25/12/2025 12:27

Did you ask for Lego? Did he only get you one gift? I would be very annoyed.

JudgeBread · 25/12/2025 12:29

This reminds me of when my uncle very proudly bought my aunt a Fitbit for Christmas and she hit the roof lmao, thought she was going to make him eat it.

He probably meant well, skincare is all the rage at the moment. I'd be a bit sad too if I was expecting Lego though.

Clefable · 25/12/2025 12:29

He’s probably been Algorithim’d with all the collagen stuff there is around. I swear so many of my friends talk about collagen, it’s the emperor’s new clothes (I’m sure it does actually do something, it’s just the thing of the moment).

Gymnopedie · 25/12/2025 12:32

I'm always agog at the displays of anti aging (supposedly) face creams in Boots/Superdrug etc with signs saying 'Ideal Christmas present'. And thinking if anyone buys those thinking it's a good idea they deserve everything they get.

pineapplebun82 · 25/12/2025 12:36

I’m a bit older than you but I would really have appreciated it. I asked for a nice one last Christmas. In fact I wish I started being serious about skincare sooner. However if it’s not your thing and you wanted Lego you are not being unreasonable.

EverydayHeartBreak · 25/12/2025 12:45

I’m not into skincare or beauty at all. I wouldn’t have minded so much if it was nice bath stuff, this feels like an insult in a pot.
I’ll try it and try to channel some gratefulness.

DappledThings · 25/12/2025 12:47

Less likely to be intended as an insult and just carelessly buying some generic woman gift he's seen online.

Did you say you wanted Lego or was he meant to guess that?

YYYDlilah · 25/12/2025 12:49

Buy yourself some Lego. Regift the face cream.

SnowDaysAndBadLays · 25/12/2025 12:51

Buy yourself lego, sell the cream on Vinted.

BusterGonad · 25/12/2025 12:51

Out of curiosity, is it a good brand?

Itiswhysofew · 25/12/2025 12:56

It wouldn't be so bad if it's something you requested or actually use. Maybe he thought it was a popular thing that women like?

Zeroninethirty · 25/12/2025 13:07

If its elemis pro collagen then just use and enjoy. Its lovely.

Or return it and buy yourself lego -

Or use it and buy yourself lego

Did u have a list saying this is all i want and all I want is lego?

EverydayHeartBreak · 25/12/2025 13:49

I did say that I would like Lego yes, but to be honest I’m pretty easy to buy for; I love coffee, books and cocktails- all very generic things of which there are no shortages at Christmas, as well as having several very particular hobbies, and I’m not normally too fussy.
Maybe he thought he was doing a nice thing coming up with a new idea, who knows.

I don’t know if it’s meant to be a good brand or not, absolute collagen? It’s a tiny pot of cream.

I can’t afford to buy myself Lego for at least a few months now, having just funded December events and Christmas presents and food for everyone, but I shall have some Lego eventually.

Do you live together? If so why are you paying for everything?

alloutofcareunits · 25/12/2025 13:54

My brother bought his (now ex) partner a slimming world membership, he made it worse by writing on the card “because you’re a fatty” which he thought was a funny play on the L’Oréal “because you’re worth it” slogan…. They’re not together anymore

RacingDriver · 25/12/2025 13:55

It is a good brand for collagen creams and not cheap so may well be a great present for many. Only you know what his intentions were, but my husband would have done this with all the right ones even if not my cup of tea.

Blueuggboots · 25/12/2025 16:17

Did you tell him you wanted Lego?

This! Sell the cream on Vinted and put the money towards the Lego you wanted.

They do Lego sets for adults

Dreamerinme · 25/12/2025 16:32

If you feel strongly enough see if he can take if back for a refund if it’s still sealed and buy Lego instead.

I got four bars of soap from two people and a trio of cleaning scrubbing sponges, so I wonder if people are trying to tell me that I smell and my home is grubby 😳
