to be upset about anti-wrinkle cream for Christmas?

I know I look knackered but I didn’t really need the reminder on Christmas morning?
DP very pleased with my gift of collagen cream.
I’m 33. I really, really wanted Lego. I can’t tell if I’m being majorly ungrateful.

Sell the cream and buy a penis pump for him.

Octavia64 · 25/12/2025 20:14

Sell it.

my adult dd loves Lego.

Everley · 25/12/2025 20:16

You’re not being ungrateful if it’s something he knows you don’t like. I’m sorry you are disappointed. It’s a rubbish feeling, isn’t it.

My DH didn’t get me anything, he did mention he was going to give me money so I could buy what I wanted (I would have been very happy with that) but it didn’t materialise. I am more upset that he didn’t get me just a little token something from our daughter who is too little to organise presents herself. I asked her what she wanted to buy daddy for Christmas and she said chocolate so I bought him some, from her. I know it’s trivial but it just makes you feel under appreciated doesn’t it.

FromageTime · 25/12/2025 20:16

My youngest gave me a pile of absolute shite. A shitty candle with a crackly wick, a crappy bowl - a cheap and nasty version of Emma Bridgwater (he actually had the temerity to say ‘you like your EB artichoke bowl’ 😭. But the one thing that has offended me beyond measure - a Bayliss and Harding gift set. I am going to hang myself in the garage before daybreak.

I’m not into skincare or beauty at all. I wouldn’t have minded so much if it was nice bath stuff, this feels like an insult in a pot.
I’ll try it and try to channel some gratefulness.

I think you’re taking it the wrong way. Men aren’t the best gift buyers but I don’t think he’s saying you look old, whack some face cream on unless there is some massive back story here ! I personally would be happy with it, I’m 36 and have really upped my skin care game the last year and you can tell

You’re 33 and you wanted Lego? 😳😳

I'm 53 and love and got Lego. 😁

Disturbia81 · 25/12/2025 20:09

Lego is very popular with adults, have you never seen the amazing sets you can buy? Some are £100s

This. ^ Some people have the same odd kind of snobbery when it comes to videogaming. Or Disney. Awful snobbery. And judging.

@EverydayHeartBreak I would have said 'why on earth have you bought me this?' and then asked for the receipt so I could return it.

Ca55andraMortmain · 25/12/2025 20:22

oh no! i got this for dh in his stocking because I've recently started to use similar myself and i really like it. now im wondering if it hurt his feelings?! whoops. (it was not his only gift by any means, but still....)

FeelingFineNow · 25/12/2025 21:42

I got anti wrinkle creams from dh and two of my children 😂
I am obsessive about my skin care though so was very pleased.
Dh got me lots of other gifts as well though.

If its elemis pro collagen then just use and enjoy. Its lovely.

Or return it and buy yourself lego -

Or use it and buy yourself lego

Did u have a list saying this is all i want and all I want is lego?

Agree, love the stuff! It’s expensive so I ask for it for Xmas. DH got me the advent calendar for Christmas and there’s a huge pot of it in there! I’d run out ages ago and there’s some great stuff in there.

This reminds me of when my uncle very proudly bought my aunt a Fitbit for Christmas and she hit the roof lmao, thought she was going to make him eat it.

He probably meant well, skincare is all the rage at the moment. I'd be a bit sad too if I was expecting Lego though.

Dh got me a fitbit for my birthday once and at first I thought it a complete waste of money... but now I think it one of the best presents he got me! It's so handy for so much stuff, I'm lost without it.

Same got some of that shite too.

JMSA · 26/12/2025 03:23

I’d love the cream but would hate Lego!

WhoamItoday11 · 26/12/2025 03:42

Next Xmas get him some penis enlarging cream! 😆

SoftBalletShoes · 26/12/2025 03:57

Yeah, it's pretty dodgy getting skincare products for people that say anti-wrinkle or firming or claim to fix a particular problem.

It's disappointing that he didn't get you the Lego you wanted. But maybe he wanted to get you something that felt luxurious and perhaps someone advised him that this stuff is all the rage. I'd give him the benefit of the doubt on this occasion.

And, use the cream. It's a nice brand and a nice gift, and it will feel very luxurious.

I bought my partner Lego and I got Lego and I’m over 60

TheCurious0range · 26/12/2025 05:59

I got a lovely elemis cream.and cleansing balm from DH I was pleased I didn't see it as an insult at all. I get being disappointed if it's not what you wanted but I doubt very much it was designed to be an insult

Busyasabumblebee · 26/12/2025 06:40

anti wrinkle cream for a 33 year old is wild- but then so is Lego ?!

MerryAndBrightLaLaLa · 26/12/2025 06:43

alloutofcareunits · 25/12/2025 13:54

My brother bought his (now ex) partner a slimming world membership, he made it worse by writing on the card “because you’re a fatty” which he thought was a funny play on the L’Oréal “because you’re worth it” slogan…. They’re not together anymore

Wow. What an arsehole.

I think 'wild' is a bit strong. 😂
