Disney songs in the office

I’m in a grump this morning anyway but oh my god. Disney songs on all morning and I just can’t deal with it. WIBU to turn them off and tell the person playing them to grow up? We’re an office of adults!

OP posts:

Because they’re children’s films.

Actually, the original purpose of Disney was to create something for both adults and children.

And even if they "children's films", why does that mean adults can no longer enjoy them? Do you never feel nostalgic for foods, or books, or music, or movies from your childhood and want to discover them again?

Sidebeforeself · 23/12/2025 17:37

Oh OP .. we get it.. In your opinion adults should only like adult not for profit stuff.. I hope you can still enjoy Christmas even though you are seething with rage and frustration

Toy Story and Toy Story 2 mean much more as a parent than they did when young.

In Brave Merida rescues her mother and brothers, Mulan saves her country, Moana undoes a curse dooming her people, the act of true love that saves Elsa is her sister, the Sword in The Stone has sod all to do with princesses and Jungle Book is a stone cold classic.

I'm not the sort to buy a lot of merchandise or wear branded Disney gear, but I recognise classics wh n I see them.

Good stories are for everyone, not just children. Animation is for everyone. Why shut yourself off from things that still have aesthetic value?

Because it's obviously much more fun to act all superior and sneer at anyone who still enjoys things from their childhood Wink

Grown adults can't cope at work with playing Disney songs? It's tragic. Work is still work and there should be a level of respect for everyone and not the childish few who retort to childhood in the workplace as a cope.

Do you mean without?

LouiseK93 · 23/12/2025 18:58

I love Disney songs but doesnt mean everyone else has to hear it.
I would expect Christmas Songs bc of the time of year and people would have to suck that up, but not Disney I can understand why people find them irritating despite me being a fan 😅

ObsidianTree · 23/12/2025 20:32

Lol I love how 50/50 this is split. Admittedly only read first page of response.

I am team Disney songs! I would enjoy that!

DollarsSign · 23/12/2025 20:55

I have a Disney/movie playlist but this would irritate me.

I’d be cranking out my noise cancelling headphones.

Middleagedspreadisreal · 23/12/2025 21:00

Ha. Just seen this. I'm with you! How annoying! I've had to put up with the same xmas songs all day on a loop for the past 3 weeks with a colleague catawalling along to them. How I've kept my job I don't know 😫

FromageTime · 23/12/2025 21:03

I simply could not stand this. Thankfully, I work with adults.

JaquelineHide · 23/12/2025 21:27

Anything played on a loop is going to get annoying. Can you ask them to at least mix it up a bit?

Jcherry · 23/12/2025 21:30

Disney is extremely juvenile. Massive red flag for adults to listen to it.

SillyNavyTiger · 23/12/2025 21:33

You'd think music from "children's films" (which they are not but anyway)

would be the safest music to put - someone is bound to be offended by whatever lyrics/ composer from any other song 😂

It's probably safest to stick to instrumental rubbish to be on the safe side, but frankly that would drive most people insane very quickly

SillyNavyTiger · 23/12/2025 21:34

why must you have music at all? Ask for silence and problem solved. Who has time to argue about what is appropriate anyway?

Misanthropologie · 24/12/2025 05:42

Where are these offices where music is played out loud? Don't their occupants have any work to do?

Tryingatleast · 24/12/2025 05:45

Let it go let it goooo 😅

Toy Story and Brave are Pixar movies, which do skew more towards "all ages" than Disney.

I do Moana of the Disney ones you reference, though (and do have some time for Disney generally - although Jungle Book is shite).

Oh piss off.

What sort of “red flag” are you suggesting here?

KimberleyClark · 23/12/2025 17:23

Yeah me too. I’ve never read the books or seen the films - what exactly am I missing?i

This seems like a silly question.

How can you have an opinion on Harry Potter if you haven’t read the books or watched the movies?

driver067 · 24/12/2025 08:45

Some people being you and op.

General Christmas songs: I'm all for them. Exclusively Disney is a major no. Ditto for "released/successful in December". And having snow in the video does not make it a Christmas song.

My options would be: Christmas songs, general songs/radio, or nothing at all.

GroundControlToMajorTomCat · 25/12/2025 22:45

I love Disney my favourite is the Beauty and the Beast because it reminds me of me and my DH 😆😆😆

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 25/12/2025 23:30

I’d hate that! I can’t work with music on and would find it really distracting. I’m amazed that anyone is allowed to play music at all. That wouldn’t be tolerated where I work, thank goodness.
