Ordered pizza tonight. A very rare treat. Had one slice and as I was turning away to deal with ds2, ds1 (5) smothered my fucking pizza with sauce.

i don’t know wtf he was thinking either

Who are the 40% of people who think I’m being unreasonable to be fucking gutted my rare indulgence was ruined? Have you no soul? 😭🤣

The 40% that voted yabu did so because they think you should be absolutely stuffed after one slice of pizza and yabu to need more. The competitive under eaters of Mumsnet have spoken!

FuzzyWolf · 22/12/2025 20:12

I suspect this will end up being one of those things that he never hears the end of!

ThereAreOnlyShadesOfGrey · 22/12/2025 20:14

I would have gone apeshit.

And then I would have thrown the pizza in the bin in front of him to show him that he’d ruined my dinner.

“He’s just five” isn’t good enough. At five children know not to touch other people’s food.

SouthLondonMum22 · 22/12/2025 20:18

Definitely old enough to start learning not to touch anyone else's food though I'm sure he thought he was just helping.

Did he only pour it on your pizza? Not his?

Devilsmommy · 22/12/2025 20:24

Am I the only person on here who always puts ketchup on my pizza? 😳

It doesn’t matter if you are. If you love it and it rocks your world, carry on. It isn’t about ketchup on pizza. We like different stuff. I’m sure you wouldn’t thank me for deciding you couldn’t have ketchup on yours.

Just scrape it off, not a big deal.

justpassmethemouse · 22/12/2025 19:22

It’s the swearing making me think YABU. I know this is just Mumsnet but still 👀 it’s tomato sauce on a tomato pizza, I’m sure you can scrape it off

It wasn’t a bloody tomato pizza. Know it alls are the sodding worse.

That’s unkind behaviour from a five year old. Is there more to this?

What a mad response!

Mumsnet is really depressing for realising how utterly mad and spiteful some people are to children.

Duckyfondant · 22/12/2025 20:37

I bet they thought they were doing such a nice thing.

sweeneytoddsrazor · 22/12/2025 20:38

This is why condiments were kept out of reach in our house. Ketchup is vile and no you can't scrape it off without taking most of the topping with it

youalright · 22/12/2025 20:42

I remember my daughter when she was about 3 being at a restaurant and she just randomly poured a load of salt on my meal. It wasn't funny at the time but we laugh about it now it just happened out of nowhere 😂

BettysRoasties · 22/12/2025 20:42

Yeah it would be ruined for me. You can’t scrape it off either the flavor will still be there.

Tiedyeegg · 22/12/2025 20:43

I get you op, it’s exactly the kind of thing that wouldn’t bother me on a good day but if I was already stressed, tired and hungry and I’d be ready to have a good cry.

Bruisername · 22/12/2025 20:45

Yes he’s only a kid but there’s nothing wrong with op letting him know he ruined her dinner. How will he learn otherwise? I assume he was upset as OP said he didn’t know why he did it and it’s a learning moment for him

As my DC have gotten older I've learned that the little incidents that felt so stressful when they were small, all those fraught "WTF!?" moments, are now the stuff of family legend. When people tell you you'll laugh about it one day, they're right and these things will become the stories you tell when they're not small anymore

Fuck me, "apeshit" at a five year old over some ketchup. Are you alright? Is everything okay at home?

There's a world of difference though between explaining "you should only put ketchup on your own food" and going apeshit while binning the entire meal.

…A fancy carbonara pizza?

Literally 99.99% of pizzas are tomato-sauce based, it was a fair assumption.

Elmspringwater · 22/12/2025 22:42

I cant stand ketchup.
The smell makes me reach sickly yuk, hence why i cant eat at cafes,

Sahara123 · 22/12/2025 22:46

i absolutely hate ketchup, no way could I have eaten the pizza after that, I’d be so pissed off !

Really i dont have kids but i would not go apeshit at a 5 year old, you would scare the child ffs.
