When one of the Dead Ringers did an impression of Keir Starmer on the RVP tonight there was alot of booing.
ITV kept it in too.
How embarrassing for Starmer.

Says alot though about what people think of Starmer.😀

I have a lot of respect for Starmer. There are undoubtedly things that he could improve on but he’s doing some great work. People need to stop reading the dailymail.

I don’t read the DM.

I do subscribe to Bloomberg and the FT, and read the Guardian and DT.

What great work has he done, please?

Think a lot of Labour supporters have jumped in op. I don’t think it’s any secret just how unpopular Labour and Starmer currently is. The lies, the freebies, what they’ve done to the economy,

I think a lot of Tory supporters are blind to the fact that their party didn't do any better.

I'm no Starmer fan either, but the Tories tanked the economy well before Labour came into power.

Define ‘tanked the economy’, please?

Which metrics are you using?

EasternStandard · 22/12/2025 10:59

SeaAndStars · 22/12/2025 10:53

Labour currently -

banning trail hunting
banning puppy farms
banning caged hens and crated pigs
increasing funding to NHS
raising minimum wage
reinstating erasmus
setting up breakfast clubs
set up a scheme to house veterans
flood defence schemes
special measures on water firms
ended train strike
set up GB energy
4.2 million new NHS appointments since July 24

Have you looked at what’s going on with jobs? Particularly for young people.

I've looked at lots of things. I just wrote a list.

Yeh I saw that, I can see you like Labour. But why miss things that are impacting people in a big way?

Like you are ignoring all the good things Labour have done?

MrsArcher23 · 22/12/2025 11:11

Was the audience booing at Starmer because they don’t like him or at the Starmer impersonation because they don’t like him being mocked? Take your pick…

Jobs and livelihoods are pretty crucial wouldn’t you say? Not sure if you have dc who will want a job.

Making a list of things happening doesn't indicate any political preference.

An exhaustive list of 'things that impact people in a big way' isn't possible.
What is possible is a list of things that are happening that benefit many people and the environment in a big way.

As you ask -
"Almost one million young people will benefit from learning or employment opportunities as a result of a major £820 million funding package. "

No political preference, Labour will love the commitment.

However if Labour really are in a similar bubble and thinking they’re doing well I can see why support drops each week.

People don't want to hear the good things though, they just want to moan constantly.

Your insistence on political preference doesn't detract from the list of positives.

A list of actions isn't a bubble.

Well it is as you’ve missed jobs and businesses out which is pretty crucial, you won’t last long paying for stuff as they drop.

As said if Labour really do have the same blind spot on that then it’s a major issue.

In my 50 years I've never felt so much absolute loathing for a politician. Starmer makes me physically sick.

Genuinely, can I ask why? Do you know much about him or his life before politics? Fwiw, I worked with him a little some time ago, and he always struck me as a very decent person on a personal level - personality-wise, he's reserved, strategic, highly intelligent, has a dry sense of humour which I can see doesn't necessarily come across well in the media. Certainly you never heard any stories of the kind you can hear about how some politicians treat other people who work with and for them, clear he's devoted to his family and so on. He had a long career in the law mostly focussed on working with victims (Hillsborough disaster, victims of crime etc.) I mean, I get not liking Labour or this government but this kind of statement just seems such an insane overreaction to the man himself.

OK. In under a year Starmer’s govt has rejoined Erasmus, strengthened workers rights, pushed through renters protections (including ending no-fault evictions), set up Great British Energy, secured new trade deals, backed UK industry/jobs, and started planning reform to unblock housebuilding.
Not everything’s fixed overnight.

Governments don’t undo 14 years of damage in 10 minutes.

He’s also tackling issues that matter to young people, from reducing knife crime through stronger policing restrictions on buying knives online and accessing dangerous pornography and community support to keeping harmful online content out of children’s reach (knife crime is already down significantly). His government is also bringing education on consent, healthy relationships, and respect into schools to prevent violence against women and girls before it starts.

Perhaps these issues aren’t important to you

If you’re a stop the boats flag shagger then you’ll also be delighted to hear that migration is down massively too.

Terrible behaviour.
Why would an adult behave like this?
It wasn't funny.
I doubt politicians bother about idiots like this though.

He doesn’t bother with the electorate either

Mistymeg · 22/12/2025 11:40

yes Because most people there are fed up of being taxed non stop all while encouraging benefits Britain.

Finally some sense. The scary thing is I feel I often talk to people who seem to have strong opinions on the government and don't even know any of this. It's not that they don't agree with aspects or have critiques - they literally don't know any of it this. It's terrifying.

Don’t think Labour voters across the country will be dressing up in black tie, travelling up to London and paying to attend The Royal Variety Performance.

In a Time Machine.

It was filmed last month.

Labour seem to be absolutely rap at PR and getting this stuff out there.
