To say fuck it & open the Christmas wine?

Fuck Christmas, fuck Mariah Cariah, fuck gift buying. I hate this charade every year. I've been dumped on a taxi driver for my teens, my ex is going away for NY and my partner hates Christmas even more than I do. Everyone is grabby and I've run out of cash. I hate feeling inadequate and unloved over it all. Gonna go and hide with the claret. Might open the special crisps, too. Fuck off Christmas. Anyone joining me?

We’re having work done, it’s months over time and the mice have finally found their way in - it’s taken them a while, considering - so I’ve gone for it as I disinfect the kitchen.

Oh yes! It’s a selection box with mint fondants and those coin crisp things in both dark and milk chocolate. Better than the traditional squares!

I learned a long, long time ago that xmas is for 'others' and to set my sail through it, and making it as enjoyable as possible whilst keeping 'others' happy.

No matter the circumstances, it's a formula that works for me...and it doesn't offend anyone.

Because there's nothing like xmas to bring out the 'offended' spirit....

Oh yes! You’ve described the perfect coping strategy. Let everyone else get on with it and just do what it takes to survive these few days. Good strategy.

Mine buggered off three months ago without warning and for no reason.

But I've got a lot more wardrobe space now and my jumper collection has a great many more drawers available.

Oh, and I don't have to listen to him snoring anymore.........

Absolutely, fuck useless husbands, too! This reminds me of that story - “I thought I had anxiety and then I divorced your uncle”. Although Christmas is shit for mr, it was far more awful she I was married, also for the reasons you have cited. Def time to celebrate for you! Hurrah!

The selection pack is quite nice, which is why they lasted about half an hour after my OH discovered them.
