Fuck Christmas, fuck Mariah Cariah, fuck gift buying. I hate this charade every year. I've been dumped on a taxi driver for my teens, my ex is going away for NY and my partner hates Christmas even more than I do. Everyone is grabby and I've run out of cash. I hate feeling inadequate and unloved over it all. Gonna go and hide with the claret. Might open the special crisps, too. Fuck off Christmas. Anyone joining me?

For next year, I have decided to Christmas like a man and wait for some Christmas fairy to come along and plan and do everything.

Ha! Thanks, yeah it’s my favourite wine, I only buy it at Xmas and DH is out so I’m having it all to myself. The cat has had a little sniff but it’d be wasted on him.

Christmassing like a man sounds like a good plan. I divorced mine because he was too loving of Christmas but not of the workload, so it has been better in the past few years.

I opened the Christmas chocolate biscuits yesterday ( I don't drink) so go for it!

I told DH I would cook the dinner but I didn’t want to do anything else this year. He’s actually managed to sort most things! He’s spent about 10 grand in m&s, bought the most random assortment of gifts for our DC but I’m pretty impressed. Have done a stock check today of his purchases and only need to get four more things. He’ll be back out tomorrow to replenish the wine I’m making a dent in though

Having ordered my xmas booze and food for a click and collect on Tues evening...I decided to celebrate early on my way home from my last day of work until Saturday (I drew the lucky straw!) and bought a bottle of port which has been opened.

At least OP, the shops will still be open next week so you can always buy some more if you need to replace it..

Sympathy Bobishere I was diagnosed in August and am going through chemo just now, so I'm feeling crap and ignoring Christmas.

My mum and dad had the Christmas wine delivered in October (drank it) then again in November (drank it) and finally in December.

Every time only the avocaat (ghastly egg based drink) was left every month.

Mum died last month and I used that memory in the eulogy.

Your season sounds dreadful. Have that drink and try to care less for people who do not treat you better.

What does this have to do with anything? I’m not making Christmas stressful for myself - it is stressful by itself. I can’t move for hearing or smelling Christmas shit. You can still count your blessings and hate the season.

I’m interested to learn that After Eights a) still exist and b) come as a selection pack. Who knew?

I learned a long, long time ago that xmas is for 'others' and to set my sail through it, and making it as enjoyable as possible whilst keeping 'others' happy.

No matter the circumstances, it's a formula that works for me...and it doesn't offend anyone.

Because there's nothing like xmas to bring out the 'offended' spirit....

I have had 3 Christmas wine cases 😬 same as previous posters parents 😂 bought in Oct/Nov and now December. The champagne did stay in the fridge, until Friday when I opened a bottle!
