I look forward to tales of the off turkeys

Or the roasting on the outside
Still frozen in the middle.
Mmmm😋

Does anyone know what happened to the poster who was going to reveal husband's infidelity in the Christmas round robin...?

Lightandlove · 22/12/2025 11:23

I want to know what happened to the poster who's family was treating her like crap and she booked for her daughter and her to go to Disneyland/world without telling the family.

Weren't they supposed to come to hers or something and she was just not going to be there? I was routing for that poster, but can't find the thread to see the outcome!

Edit to add this was for Christmas (I think last year)

JudgeBread · 22/12/2025 11:25

I'm working Christmas day and it's usually a fairly slow day for us so I'll be perusing the gossip like a fiend no doubt.

I’m in!

I really feel the cold so I particularly enjoy the threads where ILS house is so cold you can see your own breath.

I remember one where the OP was told to come and warm herself up by the electric fire - which wasn’t actually on. Just the light under the fake coals was on. 🤣

Placebo effect?

I will have a thread on Xmas day thanks to my bigoted father in law

Guy cannot help himself make bigoted comments. His life is dictated by a football team

The comments don't affect anyone in the room but he actually doesn't know what he is saying

I actually know more than him

"I hate kaflicks"

Aye very good mate we know

He must be a real joy on an Old Firm derby day.

I feel your pain, as I once had to endure a meal on Christmas Eve with my ex's parents, listening to his mum going on about how black boxers shouldn't be allowed to fight white boxers. She believed this to be unfair because - and I quote - 'black people don't feel the punches the same, because their skin's thicker'. Except she didn't use the word 'black'.

Refrigerated gifts by any chance?

No, it's someone who claims she is struggling financially and that everyone who posts on a 'Show me your Christmas fridge' thread is greedy, obscene and a disgusting glutton who is insensitive to her plight and has upset her with their revolting greed.

Even though all the threads are clearly labelled and she has actively clicked on them and read them all of her own volition, knowing exactly what they will contain.

SoulSearchBeHonest · 22/12/2025 14:20

Are there any classics?

I've been wondering about that too!!

I honestly thought those stingy threads must be made up, until I attended a Sunday lunch hosted by a newish friend...

There were 10 adults total - our host cooked 1 medium chicken, 1 broccoli, approx 6 carrots and 6 potatoes for us all to share.

Our plates were bare. Smaller than toddler portions; I wouldn't have believed it, had it not happen to me! It was bizarre.

Was this someone who usually cooks for two failing to compute enough food for ten, or did they genuinely think that was plenty?

I really need to know this as well! Were the “hosts” embarrassed, or blissfully oblivious? Did anyone else comment? Did people sneak out later for emergency Maccies? I have an unhealthy fascination with the “underfed by PIL” threads, they’re so deliciously uncomfortable.

I've been wondering about that, I hope she's ok, assuming it wasn't a creative writing assignment.

It looks like the thread has been pulled so you may well be right.

Fully prepared for something to kick off on Christmas day. I will keep you posted 😞

AmyDuPlantier · 22/12/2025 21:42

Nah not really. My DH and I are separated but living together for another little while yet, so I’ve got all the drama I need right here tbh.

Hopefully not that can't be good waiting on tenter hooks waiting for some sort of bust up.
Hope it passes off ok.👍

Sloelydoesit · 22/12/2025 22:34

Last year my 3 year old amazing dog died on Christmas Eve. Obviously that was a fuck up Christmas.

This year, my elderly and a bit senile cat has pissed down the back vents of the cooker and shorted the electric supply downstairs. I am not testing the oven until tomorrow. If it doesn't work then I might have to BBQ the meat on Christmas Day.

Host seemed completely comfortable and unfazed.

I don't know about the other guests but DH and I were so hungry we went to a local chippy on our way home - we did leave much earlier than planned because we were so hungry!

Looking back, the first clue something was amiss was when host delivered one bowl of crisps as 'pre lunch snacks' - one small bowl, for everyone.

I couldn't, and still can't, fathom that day!

OSTMusTisNT · 23/12/2025 21:14

Can't wait for the annual rancid Turkey, obviously the supermarkets fault and not because it's been stored in the garage since 23rd Dec.

This is why I always massively overcater!

Same here.

Any Christmas drama will be on tv or down to the neighbours.

pictoosh · 24/12/2025 08:45

Certainly not anticipating any drama here but I will expect plenty on mumsnet.
