Australia terror threat

PerkyOchrePeer · 19/12/2025 15:47

I want to go on holiday to australia. I've been before but after what happened to bondi beach, my friend is saying Australia is a very dangerous country and listed as a high level risk of terrorism. I said I still want to go abd if it was that dangerous the FCO would ban people from going. I said I would ask the travel agent when I book. The travel agent said she would still go to Australia but would not go to Israel and said she wouldn't feel as safe in Israel. My friend said the travel agent is only saying this to get me to book the holiday abd spend money so of course she will say yes go.

What does anyone else think? Does what happened on bondi beach pit you off visiting Australia

I've booked my holiday now

I witnessed a fight in Perth 2 years ago. A white australian was beating up an aboriginal and people were just standing around watching. Nobody had called the police and I shouted has anyone called the police. Eventually 4 police officers came and arrested the white woman. The aboriginal was very frightened

And did you call the police ?

That's not "terrorism" though.
Happens everyday everywhere (sadly 🙁).

Hold on. If you’ve never been to Oz, how did you witness a fight there?

Or is this thread bollocks?

Off to report.

If you read the start of this thread I said I want to go to australia and said I had been before which was how I got to see the fight in perth

We never really wanted to travel round the UK and that's got nothing to do with the Manchester attack. Seeing other parts of the UK have not been of any interest. I have been to Somerset but that was only because my parents moved there and I used to visit them.

How sad.

If you've been before you must know a bit about the culture.
I believe the name "aboriginal" isn't used these days and is considered rude and offensive to use.

YorkshireGoldDrinker · 19/12/2025 19:43

We are under a high terror threat, too. I imagine the risks are about the same.

I am interested in the history of the country and how everyone should be treated fairly

Don't use a name considered offensive then.

TryingAgainAgainAgain · 19/12/2025 20:48

Oh Perky, another thread about a potential return visit to Australia? Remember how much you moaned about your experience last time?

TryingAgainAgainAgain · 19/12/2025 20:49

@Needmorelego, 'Aboriginal' is fine (capitalised), but the noun is now seen as derogatory. So 'Aboriginal person' or 'Indigenous person'.

I thought this was a satirical post at first. It's full of bizarre FB cooker "facts".

Thanks. I googled to check. It said it's generally considered offensive these days or just a bit old fashioned really.
The way the OP used the name just felt....off if that makes sense.

We say 'First Nations' now, actually.

Thecows · 19/12/2025 21:08

Terrorism is literally in every country, just go on the holidays

But my point is you weren't afraid to despite the isolated terrorist attack that cost many lives, so why be afraid of Australia

Humdingerydoo · 19/12/2025 21:12

Nearly50omg · 19/12/2025 17:48

Are they hell!!🤣🤣🤣🤣 they are doing lip service and making it look like they are but everyone who lives here knows they are doing fuck all as usual

Fair enough 😂 But they did at least stop those 7 men in NSW the other day! I took that to mean they were actually doing something, but I take it from your comment that it was very much a one off 🙈

Christmash · 19/12/2025 21:17

I associate England with terrorism much more than Australia.
**
I think that is the first attack I've ever heardnof over there. I can name many in England.

Thepossibility · 19/12/2025 21:17

I'm in Australia, noone I know is fearful at all. It was one hateful father and son duo and they are both regarded as pathetic scum by the whole country and everyone who stepped up on the day as heros so I doubt a repeat situation is very tempting to future hateful dickheads.

My thought too. It's been quite a while since we had an Australia-bashing thread so we're overdue.

I do not recognize the country described in her comment. I don't think anyone sane or informed would.

seafoamhair · 19/12/2025 21:21

I mean, taking just one "fact", where are these places?

in every single city there are massive areas where even the army won’t go let alone the police as they are running it under sharia law
