I feel wildly out of control this year. I still need to:

Shop for some last minute gifts although most of the main ones are sorted now.

Post cards to relatives (hoping they will get there by early next week if I post Thursday at latest).

Arrange postal gift for friends dc who is 3 on Christmas Day.

Post local cards through letterboxes.

The full food shop! Only got nibbles, turkey and ham so far.

About 50% of wrapping still left to do.

A big Christmas clean and tidy before people arrive on Christmas Day.

All of this while working (up until 23rd), usual chores and dealing with the kids numerous christmas plans.

God it looks worse now I’ve written it down.

OP posts:
hyggetyggedotorg · 17/12/2025 16:55

Most of the wrapping up.

Alcohol shop - will go to Asda with DH after work tomorrow.

Last few fresh food bits - Friday evening or Saturday hopefully.

Still remember to turn up to work every day up to and including Christmas Eve 😂.

Not too bad this year TBH. More organised than usual!

HansHolbein · 17/12/2025 16:57

Few presents to wrap
1 voucher to get
Fresh food shop on Tuesday
Baking

Setting up the dining room - my favourite bit!

That’s it, really. Already prepped and frozen all the food.

MonsterBookOfTyson · 18/12/2025 11:12

Some last minute presents.

Wrapping about 50% of the gifts.

Food shop

Treats too as I ate them, im nearly 38 weeks pg so forgiven. Grin

Get paid Monday so waiting for then.

BradPittsLeftArmpit · 18/12/2025 11:24

Everything. Just everything

Bufftailed · 18/12/2025 11:28

Buy 2 big presents (and wrap) and 2 stockings. Wrap and post presents. Collect one present from locker. Plan and get food (have a slot on 23rd). Clean house. Seems ok to me

elliesmummy19 · 18/12/2025 12:04

Not much really.

Husband’s parents are hosting this year so we’re going to get some treats, snacks and drinks to take so I need to buy them.

A food shop for us. Nothing overboard just some treats, drinks and everyday stuff we need.

Need to wrap my daughter’s presents which I’m doing this afternoon.

Piratejenny99 · 18/12/2025 12:13

One present still to collect and then wrap
Going to M&S in my lunch hour today to get cheese and small gift for hosts
Christmas cards for neighbours to write and deliver
Pick up M&S order on Christmas eve
Clean house

madaboutpurple · 18/12/2025 12:49

We are not doing presents this year with my family so only have the food shop to do. This has made Christmas much easier as no decisions on presents. Instead we are baking things to eat.

NancyJoan · 18/12/2025 12:52

So, so much. All food, all cleaning, 50% of presents still to buy, all wrapping. Posted last few cards this morning.

Hedjwitch · 18/12/2025 12:56

Buy fizz for Christmas Eve. Ice the cake. Buy fresh veg.

Iknowdino · 18/12/2025 13:00

Got a good delivery last night so only fresh bits to get. Cleaning to do for Christmas get together at the weekend and then recleaning after that.
Make mince pies and decorate the Christmas cake.
Apart from that, I'm all set to go!

Bikergran · 18/12/2025 13:02

Deep-clean kitchen - would have done this before now but we just had some plastering done and plaster dust goes everywhere.

A few "stocking-filler" type gifts to buy.

Hoping also to find a nice dress for Christmas day, as all my party frocks seem to have mysteriously shrunk.........

All gifts to wrap, local cards to write and deliver.

Shopping for fresh veg and croissants/bread at last minute.

Make up bed in spare room (stripped and washed bedding and deep-cleaned room as I was in there for a week with flu, which is why presents aren't wrapped etc!)

Make trifle.

Christmas Eve will be a quick dust and vac through the house, thoroughly clean family bathroom, set table for Christmas dinner, prepare all veg and put in fridge in plastic bags.
Put bowls with unopened bags of nuts/crisps out ready to decant next morning.

Easy meal Christmas Eve, possibly pizza, then relax with a large cup of tea and have a quiet evening before the Christmas busyness starts, guests arrive etc.

blobby10 · 18/12/2025 13:14

Still waiting for 3 x important gifts to be delivered but I'm not hopeful Didn't realise they would come from China when I ordered them on 2nd Dec to be delivered to work via Yodel and we finish Monday evening.
Still have half a dozen less important things to buy
Not written any cards
Not done any wrapping
Not planned any food although its mainly Boxing Day I need to think about as we are all in different places on Christmas Day (not enjoying this "having adult children with partners" bit) then its just normal food.
Haven't done any cleaning or tidying
Haven't made any beds up or found any airbeds.

In my defense I'm at the end of a two week long really horrible cold which sapped the little energy I had!

troppibambini6 · 18/12/2025 13:15

Buy a couple of presents (tomorrow)
wrap everything
find and iron table clothes
food shop
touch up paint in sitting room
A lot of social stuff!
make granola
go to cook and pick up vegan dessert for bil
clean upstairs

Think that’s about it.

troppibambini6 · 18/12/2025 13:17

I’ve had Covid. Dd then came down with what I presumed was Covid but now actually think it was another lurgy which I’ve now caught so feeling crap again.

Hoolahoophop · 18/12/2025 13:35

christmassaurus · 18/12/2025 13:40

Buy a tree. Maybe. May not be arsed.

ReignOfError · 18/12/2025 13:55

Present for 1 grandchild
Clean a bit
Find out if the pub (we are going to for lunch with friends next week) allows dogs
Finish shopping order (coming on the 23rd)
Wrap presents
Cards and money for milkman, postman, dustmen.

Wowthatwasabigstep · 18/12/2025 21:32

Buy presents, buy food, wrap said presents, wave builders off on their break and get ready for enormous amounts of building work in the New Year….mind is not really on Christmas more bags of thistle, acrows and RSJ’s 😁

Dapplesun · 18/12/2025 21:38

*visit mum for gift swapping, drinks and cake
*shop for last few fresh food bits

Thats it, but I have been buying, wrapping and doing since mid nov!

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 18/12/2025 22:08

We’re going away for a few nights, and I’m taking a lot of food. So on the 21st and 22nd, make a load of cheese straws and about 3 dozen mince pies, and cook two big pieces of gammon - one to take, one to leave here for us when we get back. And brandy butter to go with the 🎄pud I’m also taking.

Just about everything else done, except that I’ve got a few things to wash.

Pinkroom · 18/12/2025 22:17

Christmas (as well as normal!) food shop
Clean and tidy entire house
Wrap all presents
Deliver some presents
Shopping and lunch out with my dad
Make gingerbread house with son
Bake mince pies and xmas day pudding
Bath dog
Find extra table and chairs for xmas day
Dress dinner table
I feel so unorganised this year!

Lavenderosemary · 18/12/2025 22:27

All of it. Literally every single thing. Not even put decorations up. Staffing shortage in social care in the run up to Christmas has left me either at work or falling into bed to sleep. When I started my job 20 years ago, a colleague told me to say goodbye to having a life. She was right!

Elsvieta · 19/12/2025 20:16

I'm supposed to buy "lemon tonic" (for gin). Four supermarkets and no joy. Is there such a thing?
