I feel wildly out of control this year. I still need to:

Shop for some last minute gifts although most of the main ones are sorted now.

Post cards to relatives (hoping they will get there by early next week if I post Thursday at latest).

Arrange postal gift for friends dc who is 3 on Christmas Day.

Post local cards through letterboxes.

The full food shop! Only got nibbles, turkey and ham so far.

About 50% of wrapping still left to do.

A big Christmas clean and tidy before people arrive on Christmas Day.

All of this while working (up until 23rd), usual chores and dealing with the kids numerous christmas plans.

God it looks worse now I’ve written it down.

I have everything to do this year, I’ve been having work done on the house and am so disorganised. I’ll do all the shopping in one fell swoop and get stuff wrapped on Saturday while the kids are with their dad. Food shopping will be an early expedition next week. I’m more worried about getting the house sorted out because that’s a one job needs done before the next type thing and workmen aren’t being cooperative.

It’ll all be fine, it’s just stressful knowing it all needs done.

IndigoIsMyFavouriteColour · 17/12/2025 13:21

Husband doesn’t get paid til the 19th so we are doing everything after that. Big food shop coming on the 19th, need to go to warhammer shop for son 2’s Christmas gift. Need to order a bunch of stuff from Amazon on the 19th

need to wrap everything but we will do that on the 24th as normal

PrincessHoneysuckle · 17/12/2025 13:49

RandomUsernameHere · 17/12/2025 13:59

Wrapping
Finalise food order

notnorman · 17/12/2025 14:04

Everything!
lm sure it will get done. And if it doesn’t, it’s only one day.

MiddleAgedDread · 17/12/2025 14:07

4 days of work
about half the present shopping
all the wrapping
clean house (not hosting but hate coming home to a mess)
pack
Travel

might see if I’ve got a couple of cards left to send to elderly relatives today, thank you @AlexaBeQuiet
decorations are staying in the loft!

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 17/12/2025 14:11

Decorations are up, tree is up, most food is bought

Still to get the last bits of food, clean the house (I'm hosting), sort out two last presents, wrap ALL the presents, make up the spare beds, make a 'to do' list for Christmas Eve food prep. There's probably more but I've blanked it out and will only remember at three o clock tomorrow morning...

Lifeofthepartay · 17/12/2025 14:30

Got all the nieces and nephews presents wrapped, and we are using fabric bags for ours so no wrapping required. Need to buy the stocking fillers, all the food and snacks, and write a few cards, we used to do cards for everyone but this year I am only writing for the people that reciprocated last year. So I am like 40% done and 60% to go. Do t finish work til the 23rd so all the shopping will be done on Christmas eve morning.

SparklyGlitterballs · 17/12/2025 14:37

I'm quite organised this year as I had to do lots early due to me having a knee replacement at end of November. I knew I wouldn't be able to drive for 6 weeks. All that I have left to do is pick up Christmas joints from M&S on Christmas Eve, buy last minute vegetables, and have a good clean of the house as my DM is coming for Christmas Day. Usually I'm rushing round like an idiot right up to the last minute.

Monvelo · 17/12/2025 14:38

I haven't got anything for my dad and his wife who live in New Zealand 🤦🏻‍♀️ If anyone has any ingenious suggestions!!!!

tobee · 17/12/2025 15:23

I've not even written my list yet. 😬

deathbyprocrastination · 17/12/2025 15:24

Oh my gosh, so so much including finalising presents for DC, pretty much all the wrapping, meal planning and updating xmas shop that's arriving this weekend etc. Presents still to be sent for people abroad etc. Not at all on it.

XWKD · 17/12/2025 15:24

1/ Everything.
2/ Everything else.

luckylavender · 17/12/2025 15:25

tequilam0ckingbird · 16/12/2025 22:52

So, people still send Christmas cards?!

Confused
Laserwho · 17/12/2025 15:25

Buy chocolate cake. Job done

ToffeePennie · 17/12/2025 15:59

In fairness I still have wrapping to do, but I’m thinking it will probably be easier when we are already on holiday and I can send the children off to the clubs and then get sorted with some peace and quiet.

GovernmentFundedSteak · 17/12/2025 16:02

Sort the lounge and move things to make space for the tree.
Put up the tree.
Finish buying presents.
Wrap presents.
Buy cheese and nibbles.

Basically everything.

newrubylane · 17/12/2025 16:19

Wrap presents - after checking I have everything!
Write and post Christmas cards
Mountain of washing to sort
Pack, as we are away for Christmas
Couple of admin bits that have to be sorted before.

So not that much. Trouble is this all has to be done by Saturday (when we travel) and I'm out tonight and tomorrow night... 🤦

avignon1234 · 16/12/2025 23:11

Things done. Nothing, other than counting up who wants what for dinner. Things to do. Everything other than counting up who wants what for dinner. Not the best of starting places at this late date. X

Same here

CandyCaneKisses · 17/12/2025 16:24

I have a few presents left to buy and the fresh food shop to do next week.

Hollowvoice · 17/12/2025 16:33

Wrapping
Finalise the shopping order
Panic search Amazon for something to send to uncles

Lesina · 17/12/2025 16:36

Bar putting up the Christmas Tree; all of it. I have done nothing. Its the same every year. It will all get done in the next few days but we don't host & buy only a handful of presents. Never stress about it.

rickyrickygrimes · 17/12/2025 16:38

Everything! Working right up to 5pm on Friday, flying to the UK on Saturday, haven’t bought or packed a thing. Fucking hate this time of year.

JBJ · 17/12/2025 16:41

Food shop, although the bulk is being delivered from Morrisons on Christmas Eve (I hope anyway!) and the meat is reserved to collect from M&S.

Have general cleaning and tidying up to do, but I had a blitz in the conservatory where we’ll be eating, and a good sort out in the kitchen, so just need to have a quick last minute run through.

More organised than usual this year, as I’m waiting on an op, so got stuff done early just in case I was called in before Christmas.

Cupofteaforyou · 17/12/2025 16:41
  • Three presents to wrap for DH.
  • Card for DH to write.
  • Bag up presents into respective families' we are visiting.
  • Pack up clothes for 2 night stay away
  • Arrange for neighbour to feed cats
  • Get coal (not Xmas specific 😂 )
  • Make mince pie puffs for SF
  • Iceland shop for various people visiting us Fri, Sun, Tues and Weds
  • Lighting advent candle Sunday
  • Carol concert Sunday
  • Christingle Weds

That'll do!
