Will estate agents tell us no chance of this

We are thinking of moving but haven’t got our house on the market currently.

There are some houses we’ve seen which have been for sale for a week weeks or longer and may have also had a price reduced.

If we were to ask to view, would you expect EA’s to say no as we aren’t currently proceed-able?

I’m sitting in a house we viewed when ours wasn’t on the market. We viewed it, loved it, offered full asking, got our house on the market and had a sale agreed within ten days. There was another house we liked locally that we couldn’t view - the estate agent didn’t refuse but never got back to us with a viewing appointment. That sale went through about 18 months after ours.

It can’t have been a house that garnered much interest. Or the sellers were desperate for anyone through the door. Or the EA was crap.

Because basic EA due diligence is to enquire about property on market (and they will check listing!) or proof of funds if no sale needed UNLESS the seller has said “I’m happy with any and all through the door”
